We investigated the thermal characteristics of rotating anode X-ray tube to develop it for digital radiography by using computer simulation. The target which is the area of the anode struck by electrons is the most important component to get a long life of X-ray tube. So we analyze the thermal characteristics of the target and rotor assembly according to their emissivity by using ANSYS transient thermal simulation and then compare with the measured data of the target temperature operating in aging process of X-ray tube. Especially, keeping the lead coated layer as the role of metal lubricant on ball bearing enables to prevent the noise in rotating anode. The simulation result showed that its temperature was under the melting point of the lead in X-ray tube for digital radiography with 1.2 mm large focal spot 0.6 mm small focal spot and 150 kV tube voltage. We also investigated the relationship between the diameter of the anode shaft and the temperature of the anode and rotor assembly. It has been confirmed that the smaller anode shaft could be good for the rotor thermal characteristics.

Fuel rods using in nuclear power plants consist of uranium dioxide pellets enclosed in zirconium alloy(zircaloy) tubes. It is vitally important for the pellet surface to remain free from pits, cracks and chipping defects after it is loaded into the tubes to prevent local hot spots during reactor operation. This paper investigates the feasibility study for detecting surface flaws of pellets contained within nuclear fuel rod through X-ray tomography simulation. Reconstructed images used by parallel and fan-beam filtered back projection method were presented and confirmed the accessibility between simulation data and MPS(missing pellet surface) image data.
Agricultural tractors require frequent shifting to improve operation efficiency, and PST (Powershift Transmission) is considered as a suitable transmission. However, due to the inherent characteristics of the PST, shocks arise during shifting, which imparts a negative effect on the operator. Therefore, in order to improve the transmission performance of the tractor PST, researches on various methods including the hydraulic system circuit, the engine input speed control, and the mechanical system of the transmission are steadily being conducted. In this study, in order to reduce the impact of PST on a shift based on SimulationX software, we analyzed the characteristics of the input signal of PCV (Pressure Control Valve) through sensitivity analysis and verified the simulation model through actual vehicle test. Optimization was performed for minimizing the shift shock for some of the parameters of the input signal at constant temperature and RPM conditions.

The properties of digital X-ray detectors depend on the absorption extent of X-rays, the generated signal of each X-ray photon and the distribution of the generated signal between pixels. In digital X-ray detector with single layer, signal is generated by X-ray photon captured in photoconductor. In X-ray detector with multi structure that scintillator formed above the top of photoconductor, signal is generated both by X-ray photon captured each in scintillator and photoconductor. X-ray detector with multi structure is generated more signal than single layer detector. In this paper, we simulated absorption fraction of X-ray detector with multi-layer using Monte Carlo program. The results compared with single-layer detector to be formed scinillator or photoconductor.
The X-ray astronomy team of the Korea Astronomy Observatory(KAO) is planning to develop a multi-cell proportional counter, adopting an anti-coincidence method to reduce its internal background. We have developed a Monte Carlo code to determine the X-ray detection efficiency of the counter. As a check of our code, we successfully reproduced the detection efficiency of Ginga/LAC. In this paper, we report the simulation results for the counter being considered in KAO.

Computed tomography (CT) can completely digitize the interior and the exterior of nearly any object without any destruction. Generally, the resolution for industrial CT is below a few microns. The industrial CT scanning, however, has a limitation because it requires long measuring and processing time. Whereas, 2D X-ray imaging is fast. In this paper, we propose a novel concept of 3D non-destructive inspection technique using the advantages of both micro-CT and dual X-ray images. After registering the master object’s CT data and the sample objects’ dual X-ray images, 3D non-destructive inspection is possible by analyzing the matching results. Calculation for the registration is accelerated by parallel computing using graphics processing unit (GPU).

This work takes place in the context of the development of a transport phenomena simulation based on group III nitrides. Gallium and boron nitrides (GaN and BN) are both materials with interesting physical properties; they have a direct band gap and are relatively large compared to other semiconductors. The main objective of this paper is to study the effect of boron content on the electron transport of the ternary compound $B_xGa_{(1-x)}N$ and the effect of the temperature of this alloy at x=50% boron percentage, specifically the piezoelectric, acoustic, and polar optical scatterings as a function of the energy, and the electron energy and drift velocity versus the applied electric field for different boron compositions ($B_xGa_{(1-x)}N$), at various temperatures for $B_{0.5}Ga_{0.5}N$. Monte carlo simulation, was employed and the three valleys of the conduction band (${\Gamma}$, L, X) were considered to be non-parabolic. We focus on the interactions that do not significantly affect the behavior of the electron. Nevertheless, they are introduced to obtain a quantitative description of the electronic dynamics. We find that the form of the velocity-field characteristic changes substantially when the temperature is increased, and a remarkable effect is observed from the boron content in $B_xGa_{(1-x)}N$ alloy and the applied field on the dynamics of holders within the lattice as a result of interaction mechanisms.

Breast cancer is the most frequently appearing cancer in women, these days. To reduce mortality of breast cancer, periodic check-up is strongly recommended. X-ray mammography is one of powerful diagnostic imaging systems to detect 50~100 um micro-calcification which is the early sign of breast cancer. Although x-ray mammography has very high spatial resolution, it is not easy yet to distinguish cancerous tissue from normal tissues in mammograms and new tissue characterizing methods are required. Recently ultrasound elastography technique has been developed, which uses the phenomenon that cancerous tissue is harder than normal tissues. However its spatial resolution is not enough to detect breast cancer. In order to develop a new elastography system with high resolution we are developing x-ray elasticity imaging technique. It uses the small differences of tissue positions with and without external breast compression and requires an algorithm to detect tissue displacement. In this paper, computer simulation is done for preliminary study of x-ray elasticity imaging. First, 3D x-ray breast phantom for modeling woman's breast is created and its elastic model for FEM (finite element method) is generated. After then, FEM experiment is performed under the compression of the breast phantom. Using the obtained displacement data, 3D x-ray phantom is deformed and the final mammogram under the compression is generated. The simulation result shows the feasibility of x-ray elasticity imaging. We think that this preliminary study is helpful for developing and verifying a new algorithm of x-ray elasticity imaging.
This paper is about study how to decrese surge pressure that is occurred in excavator driving motor. We used computer simulation program SimulationX. It is also about the way finding design problem and approaching a solution through interpreting shape design sensitivity analysis. Programmes are below. First of all, finding shape fault by analyzing dynamic behavior of valves installed in hydraulic driving motor which is designed now. And drawing variable which is considered sensitive to improve dynamic efficiency among a lot of shape variables. Then, targeting that variable and examining dynamic efficiency stabilization tendency with controlling it. Finally, suggesting the most effective tuning method through variable combination as there are a lot of sensitive variables.
A Monte Carlo simulation incorporated with the genetic algorithm is presented to describe the defect known as "transition from Y-to X-type deposition" of the cadmium arachidate Langmuir-Blodgett multilayer film. Simulation is performed based on the detachment models of XY-type deposition. The transition is simulated by introducing a probability of surface molecule detachment considering interaction between neighboring molecules. The genetic algorithm is incorporated into Monte Carlo simulation to get the optimum value of the probability factors. The distribution of layers having different thickness predicted by the simulation correlates well with the measured distribution of thickness using the small-angle X-ray reflectivity. The effect of chain length and subphase temperature on the detachment probability are investigated using the simulation. Simulation results show that an increase (or a decrease) of two hydrocarbon chain is roughly equivalent to the detachment probability to a temperature decrease (or increase) of 15 K.
