캐릭터 복싱 과제에서 GAN 기반 접근법과 강화학습의 효과성 탐구 (Exploring the Effectiveness of GAN-based Approach and Reinforcement Learning in Character Boxing Task)

  • 캐릭터 애니메이션 분야에서 목표 지향적 이동을 위해 원하는 궤적을 재현하는 것은 항상 어려운 과제이다. 생성 모델을 사용하는 데이터 기반 방법은 명시적인 조건 없이 긴 동작 시퀀스를 예측하는 효율적인 방법 중 하나이다. 이러한 방법은 고품질의 결과물을 생성해내지만, 멀리 있는 목표물을 무작위로 타격하는 것처럼 더 어려운 상황의 모션을 합성(synthesis)에 있어서는 제한될 수 있다. 하지만 이는 모션 데이터 클립을 모방하는 GAN Discriminator 를 사용하고 강화학습을 통해 해결할 수 있다. 본 연구는 캐릭터들이 GAN 기반 접근법과 리워드 설계를 통해 복싱을 구현하는 것을 목표로 한다. 논문에서 사용된 두 가지의 최신 연구인 Adversarial Motion Prior 와 Adversarial Skill Embedding 에 대해 비교실험하며, 또한 복싱을 경쟁 스포츠에 적용하기 위하여 멀티 에이전트 강화 학습을 위한 대규모 self-play 프레임워크인 TimeChamber 를 활용한다.

친환경 에너지 절약을 위한 열차운전 최적화 연구 (A Study on the Train Operation Optimization for Energy Saving)

  • In line with the expansion of electric railway, reducing carbon emission and optimal train operation are required by economical, eco-friendly and efficient management. Most of the energy consumption in electric railway is consumed by train operation. So it is important that minimize the energy consumption in train operation. An analysis of the operation performance of the new model vehicle which in South Korea, Korail introduced shows that the energy consumption is different in line with the skill level of the engine driver. In this study, the know-how of train operation of a skilled engine driver is systematized by using artificial intelligence, and the technique which supports engine drivers with train operation was offered. As a result of applying in South Korea, the Gyeongbu line by using simulation, it confirmed that the maximum 20% can reduce the energy consumption in comparison with unskilled engine drivers in case of applying the Expert System.

  • This paper is to describe the development of nesting software for the materials cutting plan of footwear manufacturing processes. In shoes cutting process, almost of the materials cutting plan is dependent upon worker's experience. Thus, the pattern nesting by worker's experience for materials cutting is different from the real cutting results and also different from the error size of yield in degree of worker's skill. Recently, a few of domestic shoes' makers make use of oversee's nesting software. But the nesting software unfits for the domestic actual circumstances, and is complex to use, and is expensive, and is not to be interfaced with the auto cutting machine. Therefore, we have developed the economic nesting systems that are easier for novice to use and fit for the domestic circumstances, which can syncronize with the development of the auto cutting machine. The system comprises interrelated modules for materials information, nesting simulation, utility. The architecture of system, the functions of each module, and the information processing procedures of each function are discussed.

  • Motorcycle industry, for its competitive position, depends on part design technology. This part design has a bulky amount of data and asks the accumulation of advanced technical skill and experience, and fragmentary technical application is not enough to get to the kernel of a problem. Therefore, the improvement of proper productivity - the starting point of engineering design - and useful Design Methodology for products manufacturing are needed. Thus this paper is aimed to create a program that outputs dynamic characteristics of a vehicle when the data from fully understanding on motorcycle's brake system and induced formula for brake design are inputted.

Predictability Experiments of Fog and Visibility in Local Airports over Korea using the WRF Model

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate and improve the capability of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model in simulating fog and visibility in local airports over Korea. The WRF model system is statistically evaluated for the 48-fog cases over Korea from 2003 to 2006. Based on the 4-yr evaluations, attempts are made to improve the simulation skill of fog and visibility over Korea by revising the statistical coefficients in the visibility algorithms of the WRF model. A comparison of four existing visibility algorithms in the WRF model shows that uncertainties in the visibility algorithms include additional degree of freedom in accuracy of numerical fog forecasts over Korea. A revised statistical algorithm using a linear-regression between the observed visibility and simulated hydrometeors and humidity near the surface exhibits overall improvement in the visibility forecasts.

  • A comprehension-based computational model of pilot action planning called ADAPT is presented to model pilot performance in a flight simulation context. Individual pilots were asked to execute a series of flight maneuvers using a flight simulator, and their eye-scanning, control movements, and flight performance were recorded in a time-synched database. Computational models of each of the 25 individual pilots were constructed, and the individual models simulated execution of the same flight maneuvers performed by human pilots. The time-synched eye-scanning, control movements, and flight performance of individual pilots and their respective models were compared to test ADAPT's predictive validity.

  • This paper presents an efficient control algorithm that removes irregular burrs using vision and force sensors. In automated robotic deburring, the reference force should be accommodated to the profile of burrs in order to prevent the tool breakage. In this paper, (1) The profile of burrs is recognized by vision sensor and followed by the calculation of reference force, (2) Deburring expert's skill is transferred to robot. Finally, the performance of robot is evaluated through simulation and experiment.
