Exact and complete fundamental solutions for penny-shaped crack in an infinite transversely isotropic thermoporoelastic medium: mode I problem

  • This paper examines the problem of a penny-shaped crack in a thermoporoelastic body. On the basis of the recently developed general solutions for thermoporoelasticity, appropriate potentials are suggested and the governing equations are solved in view of the similarity to those for pure elasticity. Exact and closed form fundamental solutions are expressed in terms of elementary functions. The singularity behavior is then discussed. The present solutions are compared with those in literature and an excellent agreement is achieved. Numerical calculations are performed to show the influence of the material parameters upon the distribution of the thermoporoelastic field. Due to its ideal property, the present solution is a natural benchmark to various numerical codes and simplified analyses.

Bending analysis of smart functionally graded plate using the state-space approach

  • This study uses the state-space approach to study the bending behavior of Levy-type functionally graded (FG) plates sandwiched between two piezoelectric layers. The coupled governing equations are obtained using Hamilton's principle and Maxwell's equation based on the efficient four-variable refined plate theory. The partial differential equations (PDEs) are converted using Levy's solution technique to ordinary differential equations (ODEs). In the context of the state-space method, the higher-order ODEs are simplified to a system of first-order equations and then solved. The results are compared with those reported in available references and those obtained from Abaqus FE simulations, and good agreements between results confirm the accuracy and efficiency of the approach. Also, the effect of different parameters such as power-law index, aspect ratio, type of boundary conditions, thickness-to-side ratio, and piezoelectric thickness are studied.

Simplified the Screening and In Vitro Appraisal of Antioxidant, Cytotoxic, Thrombolytic, Antimicrobial and Membrane Stabilizing Activities of Lablab Purpures at a Time

  • To simplify the different biological investigation of the methanolic extract and solvent-solvent partitioning of Lablab purpures (L. purpures) bark. In-vitro anti-oxidant study was determined using total DPPH radical scavenging assay. In vitro antimicrobial study was measured by observing zone of inhibition. The cytotoxic activity was studied using brine shrimp lethality bioassay and thrombolytic activity by clot disruption method. The antioxidant potential was evaluated by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and Folin-Ciocalteau reagents using butylated hydroxytolune (BHT) and ascorbic acid as standards. The Aqueous soluble fraction revealed the highest free radical scavenging activity ($IC_{50}=48.76{\mu}g/mL$). The antimicrobial screening of the bark of L. purpures exhibited mild to moderate activity in test microorganisms. The CSF showed the maximum relative percentage inhibition against Salmonella parathyphi (34.2%) for bacteria and C. albicans (28.8%) for fungi whereas, lowest relative percentage inhibition against Sarcina lutea (22.0%) for bacteria and Aspergillus niger (24.4%) for fungi. In the brine shrimp lethality bioassay, The $LC_{50}$ values of Carbon tetrachloride and N-Hexane soluble fraction were found $92.18{\mu}g/mL$, and $68.95{\mu}g/mL$ respectively while the $LC_{50}$ values of standard Vincristine sulphate was $1.37{\mu}g/mL$. The methanolic extract and its organic soluble fractions of Lablab purpureus at concentration 2.0 mg/mL, significantly protected the lysis of erythrocyte membrane induced by hypotonic solution and heat as compared to the standard, acetyl salicylic acid (0.10 mg/mL). The MSF and AQSF produced 61.48 % and 53.75% inhibition of hemolysis of RBC caused by hypotonic solution respectively, whereas acetyl salicylic acid (0.10 mg/mL) showed 76.42%. Ethanol extract of L. purpures and all of its different partitions exhibited moderate thrombolytic activity of 37.25%-2.40%. Very good preliminary screening and simplified experiments were able to show the different biological activity of methanolic extract and its soluble fractions of L. purpures at a time.

  • 이트리아 안정화 지르코니아(Y-TZP)에 5가 산화물$(Ta_2O_5,\;Nb_2O_5)$을 첨가하여 $1500^{\circ}C$온도에서 상압소결한 삼성분계중 quasi-binary system인 $ZrO_2-YTa(Nb)O_4$의 조성영역안에서 상 안정성을 관찰하기 위해 상태도를 작성하였으며, 결정립 크기나 annealing 온도에 상관없이 상 안정성을 유지하는 non-transformable $t-ZrO_2$ solid solution$(NT_{ss}$ )영역을 확인하고 안정화 mechanism을 조사하였다. $NT_{ss}$ 의 상 안정성은 정방정 fergusonite 구조를 갖는 $YTa(Nb)O_4$의 안정화로 상 변태를 억제하여 우수한 상 안정성을 유지하는 것으로 추정되었다. 기계적 특성을 향상시키기 위해 상 변태율이 가장 좋은 transformable-TZP $(T_{ss/})$ 를 에 첨가하여 조사한 결과 mixture의 조성이 $NT_{ss}$ 영역밖의 $NT_{ss}$영역에 위치하여도 상 안정성과 우수한 기계적 특성을 갖는다는 것이 발견되었다.

  • 포말 분리관에 단백질 용액을 일정하게 공급하여 분리 실험을 수행하며 초기 단백질 농도, 공탑 공기유속, 온도와 pH 등의 영향에 따른 포말 분리관의 단백질 분리특성을 연구한 결과, 액본체 단백질의 약 65% 이상이 약 10min이내에 제거되는 효과적인 분리특성을 나타내어 포말분리법은 양어장 순환수중의 주된 유기성분인 단백질을 분리하기 위한 매우 효과적인 방법이었다. 액본체 중의 단백질의 초기농도가 증가함에 따라 단백질 제거속도는 일정 농도 이하의 조건에서는 직선적으로 증가하다가 일정한 값을 유지하여 단백질 제거속도는 Langmuir 흡착형태를 나타내었으며, 제거속도는 공탑 공기유속에 대해서는 직선 관계를 보였다. 본 실험조건 범위 내에서는 단백질 제거에 있어 온도 및 pH의 영향은 그다지 크지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, 실험결과를 검토한 결과 이론식은 타당하였다

  • Nodal method가 소격격자 해석방법의 하나로 정립됨으로써, 계산격자가 비교적 크더라도 각 격자의 평균출력분포를 정확히 계산할 수 있게 하는 균질화변수틀 찾는 방법이 중요하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 simplified equivalence theory와 approximate node equivalence theory의 두가지 근사방법을 가압경수형 원자로 문제에 적응하여 시험하여 보았다. 균질화계산과 노심분석계산 방법으로서 analytic nodal method에 기초를 둔 ANM 코드를 개발하였다. 여러 균질화 방법외 정확성을 KTDD 코드에 의한 reference solution과 비교하여 본 결과, 균질화 계산은 핵연료영역에서는 영역별 핵연료집합체 계산으로, baffle과 reflector의 공존 격자영역은 이들을 포함하는 color set 계산으로 수행할 수 있음을 알았다. Approximate node equivalence theory에 입각해서 approximate homogenized cross-section들과 approximate discontinuity factor들의 균질화 변수를 사용하면 출력분포와 임계도가 각각 0.8%, 0,1% 오차 범위내에서 예측되었다.

선전류에 의해 발생되는 자장의 해석을 위한 유한요소법과 해석해의 결합 기법 (Analysis of Magnetic Fields Induced by Line Currents using Coupling of FEM and Analytical Solution)

  • The line current problem(2-dimensional space : point source) is not easy to analyze the magnetic field using the standard finite element method(FEM), such as overhead trolley line or transmission line. To supplement such a defect this paper is proposed the coupling scheme of analytical solution and FEM. In analysis of the magnetic field using the standard FEM. If the current region is a relatively small compared to the whole region. Therefore the current region must be finely divided using a large number of elements. And the large number of elements increase the number of unknown variables and the use of computer memories. In this paper, an analytical solution is suggested to supplement this weak points. When source is line current and the part of interest is far from line current, the analytical solution can be coupling with FEM at the boundary. Analytical solution can be described by the multiplication of two functions. One is power function of radius, the other is a trigonometric function of angle in the cylindrical coordinate system. There are integral constants of two types which can be established by fourier series expansion. Also fourier series is represented as the factor to apply the continuity of the magnetic vector potential and magnetic field intensity with tangential component at the boundary. To verify the proposed algorithm, we chose simplified model existing magnetic material in FE region. The results are compared with standard FE solution. And it is good agreed by increasing harmonic order.

저온가스 저장공동 주위암반의 온도분포 예측에 관한 연구 (The Estimation of Temperature distribution around Gas Storage Cavern)

  • 저온가스를 지하공동에 저장하는 것은 안전과 운영 측면에서 많은 장점이 있다. 그러나 저장된 극저온가스는 주변암반의 온도변화를 야기하여 공동의 안정성에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 따라서 성공적인 저장공동의 건설을 위해서는 건설 초기에 공동 주위암반의 온도분포를 정확히 예측하는 것이 필수적이다. 본 연구의 목적은 저장공동 주변의 온도분포를 예측할 수 있는 이론해의 개발과 평가이다. 이를 위해, 공동의 형상을 단순화하고 비정상 열전도 이론을 적용하여 이론해를 도출하였다. 이론해의 적용성을 평가하기 위해서 이론해와 유한 차분 해석프로그램인 FLAC을 이용한 수치해석을 이용해 저장공동 주변의 2차원$.$3차원 온도분포를 추정하여 그 결과를 비교하였다. 또한, 공동의 크기에 대한 영향도 조사되었다.

유조선 종통보강재와 횡늑골 연결부의 피로강도 평가용 자동화 시스템 개발 (Development of Evaluation System for Fatigue Strength on the Connection Between Longitudinals and Transverse Web)

  • Ship structure is composed of the welded mixture members which are plate and stiffeners. Ship structure is also influenced by variable loadings such as wave and inertia load. There have been several fatigue damage problems on the connection between longitudinal and transverse web due to wide usage of high tensile steel and adoption of wide web space to improve shipbuilding productivity. It is impossible to estimate the fatigue lives for all connection details through refined fatigue analysis. It is necessary to use the simplified approach for the fatigue life estimation of the connection details. PLUS analysis, which is suggested by the classification society, is one of the simplified approaches and is widely adopted to get fatigue lives for the connection details along whole cargo hold area. However, ship building yards still have difficulties to get fatigue lives due to large amount of calculation and time even if this approach reduce the time and amount of calculation. This paper treats the computing system developed to reduce efforts of estimating the fatigue lives. The influence factors of mean shear stress and local dynamic pressure are easily calculated and fatigue lives for all hot spots can be estimated automatically by the developed computing system. It is possible to reduce computing time and efforts to get the fatigue lives for the connection details between longitudinals and transverse webs along the ship. This system was applied to get fatigue lives on the connection details of a VLCC and verified the availability.

On the Balanced Blending of Formally Structured and Simplified Approaches for Utilizing Judgments of Experts in the Assessment of Uncertain Issues

  • Expert judgment is frequently employed in the search for the solution to various engineering and decision-making problems where relevant data is not sufficient or where there is little consensus as to the correct models to apply. When expert judgments are required to solve the underlying problem, our main concern is how to formally derive their technical expertise and their personal degree of familiarity about the related questions. Formal methods for gathering judgments from experts and assessing the effects of the judgments on the results of the analysis have been developed in a variety of ways. The most important interest of such methods is to establish the robustness of an expert's knowledge upon which the elicitation of judgments is made and an effective trace of the elicitation process as possible as one can. While the resultant expert judgments can remain to a large extent substantiated with formal elicitation methods, their applicability however is often limited due to restriction of available resources (e.g., time, budget, and number of qualified experts, etc) as well as a scope of the analysis. For this reason, many engineering and decision-making problems have not always performed with a formal/structured pattern, but rather relied on a pertinent transition of the formal process to the simplified approach. The purpose of this paper is (a) to address some insights into the balanced use of formally structured and simplified approaches for the explicit use of expert judgments under resource constraints and (b) to discuss related decision-theoretic issues.
