Objective : Investigation of the anti-stress effects of Sihosogansan Methods : Passive avoidance test(PAT) was performed after applying immobilization stress in water to rats. Also, forced swimming test(FST) was performed to another rats and after FST, the degree of Tyrosine Hydroxylase(TH) expression was measured with immunohistochemical method in the regions of locus coeruleus(LC) and ventral tegmental area (VTA). Results : In the PAT after immobilization stress in water, response latency was significantly increased in the Sihosogansan(400mg/kg) group in comparison with the control group. In the FST, immobility was significantly decreased in the Sihosogansan groups (100mg/kg, 400mg/kg), comparing with the control group. Stress-induced TH increases were suppressed in the Sihosogansan groups (100mg/kg, 400mg/kg) at the LC and the VTA region respectively. Conclusion : Sihosogansan can improve memory ability of rats, reduce behavior of depression in rats, decrease TH-immunoreactive cells at the LC and VTA region in rat, and it may be concluded that Sihosogansan has significant effect in reducing stress.

Purpose: The purpose of this case study is to report the effect of just oriental treatments to the breast cancer. Methods: A 37-year-old woman had breast cancer of stage II according AJCC staging system, but she dosen't want be operated for a tumor. So, she was treated with herbal medicine, acuputure, moxa, patch made from herb medicine and depletion for four weeks. In herbal theraphy sihosogansan and saengmaksan. The patch made from herb medicine is put on the skin of the cancer. Depletion is done on the breast cancer, too. In acuputure theraphy, Sojangjeonggyeok(小腸正格) was used. In Moxa theraphy Chungwan, Kwanwon were used. Results: After oriental medicine for 27 days, she was on the mend about the size, complexion, solidity and pain of the breast cancer. Conclusion: This study shows that breast cancer is improved if only oriental treatments. But after this, further approach and studys on the breast cancer.

Studying documents & papers on the cure of male sterility led to conclusion as follows. 1. The methodes of cure were applied Onbosinyang, Jaeumbosin, Soganheul, Joseubhwadam, Boickgihyul, Hwalhyeolhwaua, Boickbisin, etc. And the causes of disease were applied Sinyanghue, Sineumhue, Ganulgiche, Damseubneon, Gihwelyanghue, Gichehyeolul, Bisinyanghue, etc. 2. Prescription were applied Chanyukdan Ojayuenjonghwan on Sinyanghue, Yukmi.iihwanghwan Jibekjihwanghwan on Sinuemhue, Sihosogansan Soyosan on Ganulgiche, Changchuldodamtang Bihebunchungeum on Damseubneon, Sibjyundaebotang Paljintang on Gihyeolyanghue, Sobokchukuatang Gueasengjungtang on Gichehyeolul, Sibjayukguntang Bisinssangbohwan on Bisinyanghue, etc, and Ojayunjonghwan being added on the base to cure another causes of disease as well as Sinhue. 3. The causes of disease were presented to be Sin hue mostly ; Sinyanghue particularly. And there were usually 25~42years old, married lives of 3~8years, cure periods of 2~5months, general effectiveness(approximately 76%), pregnancies(approximately 47%). 4. The methodes of cure in oriental medical prepared with the causes of disease in western one are showed in below ; The cause of semen formation disorder is considered the methodes of cure in Onbosinyang, Jaeumbosin, Boickbisin and the cause of functional ejaculation disorder in mind is considered the method of cure in Sogangegwu on the base in Bosin.

In the literatual study on the NAM-SUNG-BUL-YOUK, the results were obtained. 1. NAM-SUNG-BUL-YOUK is mainly caused by deficiency of kidney jung, and is subsiderly caused by deficiency of kidney yang, deficiency of vital energy and blood, depression of vital energy, stagnation of wetness and phlegm, wetness and heat, trauma, and so on. 2. Increasing kidney jung is the main method of the treatment of NAM-SUNG-BUL-YOUK. Warmming kidney and strengthening kidney yang, increasing both vital energy and blood, solving of liver energy, promotion of blood circuation to get rid of blood stasis, drying wetness and removing phlegm, cooling wetness and heat, use the fragrance of smelling hot and wram, etc. are also used to treat it. 3. NAM-SUNG-BUL-YOUK is prescripted as follows : Chanyukdan and Yukmigiwhangtang are used for the deficiency of Sin jung(賢精); Jangchunkwangsadan, Oujayeonjongwhan, Youguiyeum, and Palmigiwhangtang are used for the deficiency of Sin yang(賢陽); Daebowonjeon and Palmultang are used for the deficiency of energy and blood; Sihosogansan is used for the depression of liver energy; Dodamtang and Yijintang and Singitang are used for the stagnation of phlegm; and finally, Yongdamsagantang and Bihaebunchungyeum are used for wetness and heat. Above literatual study shows that NAM-SUNG-BUL-YOUK can be cured with highly ratio. It is accomplished by the conduction of appropriate herbs, acupunctures and moxibustions through method of oriental medicine.

Essential oils and aromatherapy have traditionally been used for the treatment of anxiety and depression with few side effects. This study aimed to investigate the effects of essential oils from six herbal prescriptions known to be effective in treating anxiety and depression in Korean medicine. The neuroprotective and anti-neuroinflammatory effects of six essential oils, including Gamisachil-tang (GMSCT), Guibi-tang (GBT), Sihogayonggolmoryeo-tang (SYM), Danchisoyosan (DCSYS), Sihosogansan (SHSGS), and Soyosan (SYS), were examined in PC12 and BV2 cells. In corticosterone (CORT)-stimulated PC12 cells, all six essential oils ameliorated the CORT-induced decrease in cell viability at a concentration of 10 ㎍/ml. GMSCT, GBT, and SHSGS recovered CORT-induced cytotoxicity at concentrations of 1 ㎍/ml and 10 ㎍/ml. In lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated BV2 cells, GBT (10 ㎍/ml) decreased interleukin (IL)-1β production, whereas SHSGS (1 ㎍/ml) inhibited tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α production. In the MK-801-induced anxiety in zebrafish, electroencephalogram (EEG) assessment indicated that GMSCT and SHSGS induced recovery in the delta and beta power densities and reduced theta/beta and delta/beta ratios. DCSYS and SYS decreased theta power density and theta/beta ratio, whereas GBT and SYM showed no effects on EEG signals. In the tail suspension test (TST) in mice, GBT, DCSYS, SHSGS, and SYS exhibited antidepressant-like effects by decreasing immobility time. These results suggest that the essential oils from the six herbal prescriptions, except SYM, may have beneficial effects on anxiety and/or depression. Further studies should be conducted to investigate the molecular signaling pathways that mediate the effects of these essential oils on anxiety and depression.
