The rift Caves in Japan

  • In Japan, on the volcanic line from Mt.Fuji to Hachijou Isl. in Pacific, we can see the many fissure erupted craters. The fissure eruption hasn't always left the rift caves. Recently I am investigated this era and recognized the rift caves. at Mt. Fuji 4. Miyake Isl. 3, Hachijou Isl. 3. The time of fissure eruption in Miyake Isl. make the long crack and gush the lava flow. But. we can see the rift caves only in the caldera. In the rift caves, we can see the thin coated lava on the scoria wall of the cavity and not only the side ways to extend by gasic pressure, on the surface of the earth. It is tow type rift caves. 1) The gas run to the side direction and built the cavities and after blowout the ground. 2) The gas built the cavity and then blowout the earth. I think that the thick scoria layers the most important factor and indispensable condition to built the rift caves.

NUMERICAL APPROACH FOR QUANTIFICATION OF SELFWASTAGE PHENOMENA IN SODIUM-COOLED FAST REACTOR

  • Sodium-cooled fast breeder reactors use liquid sodium as a moderator and coolant to transfer heat from the reactor core. The main hazard associated with sodium is its rapid reaction with water. Sodium-water reaction (SWR) takes place when water or vapor leak into the sodium side through a crack on a heat-transfer tube in a steam generator. If the SWR continues for some time, the SWR will damage the surface of the defective area, causing it to enlarge. This self-enlargement of the crack is called "self-wastage phenomena." A stepwise numerical evaluation model of the self-wastage phenomena was devised using a computational code of multicomponent multiphase flow involving a sodium-water chemical reaction: sodiumwater reaction analysis physics of interdisciplinary multiphase flow (SERAPHIM). The temperature of gas mixture and the concentration of NaOH at the surface of the tube wall are obtained by a numerical calculation using SERAPHIM. Averaged thermophysical properties are used to assess the local wastage depth at the tube surface. By reflecting the wastage depth to the computational grid, the self-wastage phenomena are evaluated. A two-dimensional benchmark analysis of an SWAT (Sodium-Water reAction Test rig) experiment is carried out to evaluate the feasibility of the numerical model. Numerical results show that the geometry and scale of enlarged cracks show good agreement with the experimental result. Enlarged cracks appear to taper inward to a significantly smaller opening on the inside of the tube wall. The enlarged outer diameter of the crack is 4.72 mm, which shows good agreement with the experimental data (4.96 mm).

결함을 가진 증기발생기 U-튜브의 진동특성 (Vibration Characteristics of Steam Generator U-tubes with Defect)

  • This paper investigates the vibration characteristics of steam generator (SG) U-tubes with defect. The operating SG shell-side flow field conditions for determining the fluidelastic instability parameters such as added mass are obtained from three-dimensional SG flow calculation. Modal analyses are performed for the U-tubes either with axial or circumferential flaw with different sizes. Special emphases are on the effects of flaw orientation and size on the modal and instability characteristics of tubes, which are expressed in terms of the natural frequency, corresponding mode shape and stability ratio. Also, addressed is the effect of the internal pressure on the vibration characteristics of the tube.

자기광학센서를 이용한 강자성체 결함 탐상 (The Detection of Defects in Ferromagnetic Materials Using Magneto-Optical Sensor)

  • A new non-destructive inspection technique has been developed. One characteristic of the technique is that defects are visualized by laser ray. Magnetic domains and domain walls of a magneto-optical sensor(MO sensor) are varied by the magnetic flux leaked by defects, and the variations are observed by the reflected light of the laser ray. The information of defect can remotely be inspected by this technique in a real time. This paper describes the results estimated on the 2-dimensional surface defects and opposite-side defects in a ferromagnetic material and the natural surface defect in a clutch disk wheel. The light region of a visible image and the magnitude of a reflected light increases as the input current of the magnetizer increases. The natural surface defect, that has not the width of crack's open mouth, can be also visualized like as 2-dimensional artificial defects.

  • Recently, the crack of concrete induced by the heat of hydration of cement is a serious problem for more greater, special and higher strength of concrete structures. The increasing concrete's temperature is mainly caused by the heat of hydration of cement and so, to control the thermal stress of concrete structure is desirable to use low heater material of hydration. There are many methods to diminish the increasing of concrete temperature such as using of low heat cement, addition of fly-ash, application of pre-cooling, etc., and in this study, we evaluate the heating and mechanical properties of ultra low heat mass concrete using Low Heat Portland(KS Type IV) cement with 30% of limestone powder. The results of this study will be applied to side wall and bottom of No. 15 and 16 of underground LNG tank in Inchon.

  • Nowadays, as to increased the workability of the press concrete and decrease the cracking, the fiber-reinforced admixture has been widely used. As the low adhesion force between the paste and fiber-reinforced admixture, it was considered as could not be used in the structure. Even more, as the loss of flowability and the exposure of the fiber, further study is needed. In this study, as the different environment and position of the building, the dosages of the fiber-reinforced admixture has also been changed. The fundamental properties and cracking of fiber-reinforced concrete have been tested.

2급 와동의 복합레진 충전에 관한 유한요소법적 응력분석 (FINITE ELEMENT STRESS ANALYSIS OF A CLASS II COMPOSITE RESIN RESTORATION)

  • The resistance to fracture of the restored tooth may be influenced by many factors, among these are the cavity dimension and the physical properties of the restorative material. The placement of direct composite resin restorations has generally been found to have a strengthening effect on the prepared teeth. It is the purpose of this investigation to study the relationship between the cavity isthmus and the fracture resistance of a tooth in composite resin restorations. In this study, MO cavity was prepared on the maxillary left first molar and then filled with composite resin. Three dimentional model with 3049 nodes and 2450 8-node blick elements was made by the serial photographic method and isthmus (1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and 2/3 of intercusplal distance between mesiobuccal cusp tip and mesiolingual cusp tip) was varied. Two types of model(B and R model) were developed. B model was assumed perfect bonding between the restoration and cavity wall and R model was left unfilled. A load of 1500N was applied vertically on the node from the lingual slope of the mesiobuccal cusp. The results were as follows : 1. There was a significant decrease of stress resulting in increase of fracture resistance in B model when compared with R model. 2. When it comes to stress distribution, the stress was concentrated in the facio-gingival line angle and the buccal side of the distal margin of the cavity in both Band R model. 3. With the increase of the isthmus width, the stress decreased in the area of the facio-gingival line angle, and increased in the area of facio-gingival line angle as well as the buccal side of the distal margin of the cavity in B model. In R model, the stress increased both in the area of facio-gingival line angle and the buccal side of the distal margin of the cavity, therefore the possibility of crack increased. 4. As the width of cavity increased, in B model, the direction of crack moved from horizontal to vertical on the facio-gingival line angle and the facio-pulpal line angle. In R model, the direction of the crack was horizontal on the facio-gingival line angle and moved from horizontal to the $45^{\circ}$ direction on the facio-pulpal line angle.

터널 축소모형실험을 통한 이방성 암반내 록볼트의 보강효과 검토 (Evaluation of Reinforcement Effect of Rock Bolts in Anisotropic Rock Mass Using Tunnel Scaled Model Tests)

  • 본 연구에서는 터널의 축소모형실험을 통해 이방성 암반에 설치되는 록볼트의 보강효과를 검토하였다. 이를 위해 터널규격, 암석강도, 이방성 경사, 측압계수를 달리한 두 가지 터널사례를 실험하였다. 구슬달린 자수용 시침핀을 사용하여 전면접착식 D25 이형봉강 록볼트를 모델링하였고 이들을 모형터널의 천반과 측벽에 체계적으로 설치하였다. 첫 번째 사례에서, 무지보 모형은 터널 천정부에서 초기균열이 발생하였지만 록볼트 설치 모형은 록볼트가 설치되지 않은 영역인 터널 바닥부에서 초기균열이 발생하였다. 또한, 록볼트 설치 모형은 무지보 모형에 비해 균열개시압력과 최대압력이 각각 11%, 7% 더 컸고, 이방성 암반의 불연속면이 터널의 파괴거동에 미치는 영향은 작아져서 록볼트의 보강효과를 실험적으로 검증할 수 있었다. 지보패턴을 달리 적용한 두 번째 사례에서는, 록볼트의 길이와 수량이 큰 모형일수록 균열개시압력이 크고 하중에 따른 터널면적 축소비율은 작게 나타나, 록볼트의 길이와 수량을 증가시킬수록 록볼트의 성능이 향상됨을 알 수 있었다.

표층처분시설 처분고의 목업테스트를 통한 채움단계별 수직도 및 이음부 벌어짐 측정 (Measurement of Verticality and Joint Gaps of a Near-surface Disposal Facility Vault Through a Mock-up Test for Fill-up Stages)

  • 표층처분시설 처분고의 채움단계를 묘사하기 위하여 목업테스트를 진행하고 채움단계에서 발생할 수 있는 구조물의 거동을 조사한다. 가로 6600mm, 세로 6600mm, 두께 400mm의 현장타설 콘크리트 기초 위에 4개의 프리캐스트(PC) 코너벽체와 8개의 PC 사이드벽체로 구성된 가로 5600mm, 세로 5600mm, 높이 6800mm, 두께 800mm의 철근 콘크리트 처분고를 제작한다. 처분고 안에 폐기물 드럼통을 가로 6개, 세로 6개, 총 36개로 배치한 후, 비어 있는 공간을 그라우트 채움재로 채우고 양생한다. 이 과정들을 5층까지 반복하며, 채움단계별로 벽체의 수직도와 벽체 간 이음부의 벌어짐을 측정한다. 수직도는 사이드벽체 한 개당 좌측과 우측에서 각각 3개씩 총 6개의 위치, 즉 4개의 사이드벽체에 대하여 총 24개의 위치에서 수평기를 사용하여 측정한다. 이음부 벌어짐은 사이드벽체 한 개당 좌측, 중앙, 우측의 이음부에서 각각 3개씩 총 9개의 위치, 즉 4개의 사이드벽체에 대하여 총 36개의 위치에서 균열팁을 이음부 좌우에 설치 후 버니어 캘리퍼스를 사용하여 측정한다. 목업테스트를 통해 얻은 측정된 수직도는 초기단계(ST0)를 기준으로 ±0.1°인 것으로 나타났고, 이음부 벌어짐 결과는 최대 0.38mm인 것으로 나타났다. 이는 구조물에 미치는 영향이 미미한 것으로 나타났다.

열차 하중에 의한 지하철 구조물의 진동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Vibration Characteristics of Subway Structure by Train Load)

  • 본 연구에서는 열차 진행에 따른 진동이 지하철 박스구조물에 미치는 영향에 대해서 분석을 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 지하철 본선에 센서를 설치하고 지하철이 운행 시간대의 열차진동 데이터를 획득하였다. 센서의 위치는 하부보, 측벽, 상부슬래브에 설치하였고, 자갈도상부와 콘크리트도상부의 하부보와 측벽에 각각 센서를 부착하여 부재의 위치 및 도상의 종류에 따른 진동의 영향을 분석하였다. 하부보와 상부슬래브의 동적응답을 분석한 결과 하부보의 진동속도에 비하여 상부슬래브의 진동속도는 작은 것으로 분석되었고, 상부슬래브 균열의 폭에 대한 변화도 없는 것으로 분석되어 진동의 영향이 상부슬래브까지 미치지 않는 것으로 분석되었다. 자갈도상과 콘크리트도상의 위치에서 하부보와 측벽의 가속도를 비교한 결과 콘크리트 도상의 약간 큰 것으로 나타났으나 그 차가 크지 않아 도상의 차이에 따른 정량적인 분석은 추후에 추가적인 연구를 통하여 분석하여야 할 것으로 판단된다. 구조물의 진동을 평가하기 위해서 가속도 이력을 속도이력으로 변환하여 기존의 승강장에서 수집된 진동 속도 데이터와 비교하였으며, 승강장보다는 본선의 진동속도가 더 빠른 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 금번 연구를 통하여 정밀안전 시에 지하철의 진동을 측정하여 구조물의 평가를 처음으로 시도하였으며 추후 연구에서는 측정 분해능을 보다 세밀하게 하고 측정 개소를 다양화하여 보다 세밀한 분석을 수행하는 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
