The maximum drying shrinkage velocity was proposed to verify bulk and stiffness improvement mechanism during drying according to papermaking parameters. It was based on the wet-web shrinkage behavior without the restraint of wet-web during drying, so intact drying impact could be measured. Bulking agent reduced the drying shrinkage and the maximum drying shrinkage velocity, so paper bulk increased and paper strength decreased. When adding cationic starch to stock with the bulking agent for strengthening, the bulk was increased further with additional decreasing of the drying shrinkage and the maximum drying shrinkage velocity. Paper strength also increased except tensile stiffness index with decreasing the drying shrinkage and the maximum drying shrinkage velocity. When using additional strength additives for strengthening of fiber interfaces extended by bulking agent and cationic starch, amphoteric strength additive increased paper stiffness without loss of paper bulk. It was considered that the added amphoteric strength additives were cross-linked to the stretched cationic starch and this cross-linking increased elasticity of fiber-polymer-fiber interfaces without changing the drying behavior. Paper bulk could be increased with decreasing the maximum drying shrinkage velocity. The drying shrinkage of paper also could be controlled by fiber-to-fiber bonding interfaces by the bulking agent. In this case, paper strength including stiffness was decreased by reducing fiber-to-fiber bonding but it could be improved by strengthening fiber-to-fiber interfaces with polymer complex without loss of bulk.

As super-high-strength concrete uses a large amount of binder, there is an autogenous shrinkage strain larger than dry shrinkage and it degrades the quality of structures. Thus, we need a technology to minimize the shrinkage strain of super-high-strength concrete. Accordingly, the present study prepared super-high-strength concrete with design strength of over 100MPa and, using an embedded gauge, measured the shrinkage strain of free shrinkage specimens for super-high-strength concrete containing expansion agent. According to the results of this study, the expansion rate of concrete increased in the early stage due to the admixture of expansion agent, but the shrinkage rate went down with the lapse of time. The effect of the admixture of expansion agent on compressive strength appeared insignificant. Further research shall be made on different kinds of expansion agents and various mixture ratios for basic analysis to reduce autogenous shrinkage of super-high-strength concrete.

This paper provides the practical application of a linear shrinkage framework on Vietnam stock market. The cumulative data points observed in this analysis are 468 weeks from January 2011 to December 2019. All the companies listed on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE), except the companies under two years period from Initial Public Offering (IPO), are considered. The cumulative number of stocks picked is therefore 350 companies. The VNINDEX, which is the Vietnam Stock Index, is used as a reference index for shrinking to a single-index model. The empirical results show that the shrinkage of covariance matrix for portfolio optimization gives the promising results for the investors on Vietnam stock market. The shrinkage method helps the investors to produce the optimal portfolio in the sense of having higher profit with lower levels of risk compared to the portfolio of the traditional SCM method. Moreover, the portfolio turnover of shrinkage method is always kept at low magnitudes, and this makes the shrinkage portfolios save much transaction costs and reduce the liquidity risks in the trading process. In addition, the ability of shrinkage method in making profit is once again confirmed by the Alpha coefficient that achieves a high positive value.

Most structure engineers give the casting components over-estimated factor of safety without any reasonable foundation due to the worries about the unavoidable defects such as shrinkages and porosity in castings; the engineers have little knowledge on the relation between the defect and structural behavior. And the workers in casting field also do not know how to control the defects by manufacturing; they do not know to where the defects move or until how size they reduce the defects. In this study, shrinkage defect was scanned by industrial computerized tomography instrument (CT), and subsequently was modeled to a spheroid primitive for structural analysis. Using these simplified models of shrinkage, we observed the effects of the defect on the results of the structural analysis. A commercial structural analysis code was used to do the analysis works. Considering the conclusions, it is possible to manage the shrinkages effectively in casting process and to design the products with more reliable

In case that W/B is 20%, 30%, 40% respectively, the effects of additive and shrinkage reducing agent on the autogenous shrinkage for high strengthen concrete through the substitution of FA and SF analysis were obtained as following conclusions. When the ratio of FA increased, the compressive strength of high strengthen concrete is decreased in the early times. As the ratio of SF increase, the compressive strength also increased. Comparing with PC(Portland Cement) for 7 days curing, the strength is 13.8% of FA10 + SR0.5 and 19.2% of FA15 + SR0.5 decreased when W/B is 20%, and 6.1% of SF7.5 + SR0.5, 4.8% of SF15 + SR0.5, the strength are increased. In case that W/B is 30%, 13.1% of FA10 + SR0.5 19.1% of FA15 + SR0.5 the strength is decreased and 4.1% of SF 7.5 + SR0.5, 7.2% of SF15 + SR0.5 the strength are increased. In case of W/B 40%, 4.3% of FA10 + SR0.5, and 8.7% of FA15 + SR0.5, the strength is decreased and 3.3% of SF7.5 + SR0.5, 6.3% SF15 + SR0.5 the strength is increased. When the ratio of SR is 0.5%, autogenous shrinkage strain of OPC concrete appeared $-417{\times}10-6$ in 56days curing, the shrinkage strain is decreased 23.7%. The reducing effects of autogenous shrinkage when the mineral and shrinkage agent are used are the same as ones when only shrinkage agent used.

Shrinkage Reducing Agent(SRA) was developed in order to control drying shrinkage cracks in concrete, and the use of SRA is increasing since it can control drying shrinkage cracks and improve the quality of concrete structures. Although there are many types of prediction equations of drying shrinkage strain, there is no prediction method which can consider the effect of SRA up to the present. Therefore, it is impossible to predict the tensile stress generated by drying shrinkage of SRA concrete, and to investigate the quantitative serviceability limit state of SRA concrete. In this study, the drying shrinkage of SRA concrete was investigated by experiment and analysis in order to suggest the predictability of drying shrinkage of SRA concrete. As a result, AIJ model, ACI model, GL2000 model showed there was a correlation between the predicted values and the experimental values within the error range of ${\pm}10%$. However, CEB-FIP model and B3 model underestimated the experimental values.
Recently, it is noticed that autogenous shrinkage of high-performance concrete causes early crack in high performance concrete structures. The purpose of the present study is to derive a realistic equation to estimate the autogenous shrinkage of high performance concrete and to apply to structural analysis. For this purpose, several series of concrete specimens have been tested. When water-binder ratio is fixed to $30\%$, major test variables were the type and contents of mineral admixture. The autogenous shrinkage of HPC with fly ash slightly decreased than that of OPC concrete, but the use of blast furnace slag increased with the autogenous shrinkage. A prediction equation to estimate the autogenous shrinkage of HPC with mineral admixture was derived and proposed in this study. The proposed equation show reasonably good correlation with test data on autogenous shrinkage of HPC with mineral admixture. The finite element program developed in this study provides the useful tool for the flexural analysis including the autogenous shrinkage model. By this program, we know that the tensile stress considering the autogenous shrinkage of reinforced concrete structures increase $20\~27\%$ than that not considering.

This study examined the cause of the phenomenon of shrinkage in machine-embroidered fabrics, specifically those made of thin and pliable fabrics. Four woven fabrics and two knitted fabrics were selected as samples for analysis. The fabrics selected were silk organza, flax linen, polyester chiffon, cotton batiste, polyester raschel mesh, and cotton jersey. The thickness and drapability of the fabrics were observed and the shrinkage of the various types of embroidered fabrics produced using satin & step stitch techniques were measured. Moreover, the correlation between the shrinkage of the machine-embroidered fabrics and the drapability of the original fabrics was analyzed. Also, the colorfastness of six embroidery yarns was determined. The results of the study are as follows: first, the shrinkage of machine-embroidered fabrics increased at a greater rate than in embroidered knitted fabrics as compared to rates in embroidered woven fabrics. Moreover, in terms of stitch techniques, there was a greater shrinkage rate when satin stitch was applied compared to step stitch. Second, the shrinkage rate of machine-embroidered fabrics decreased when a stabilizer was fused onto the fabric. The shrinkage rate also decreased for fabrics when fused with paper stabilizer compared to those without it, and the rate decreased at a greater amount with paper stabilizer as compared to alginate film. Third, since there was a strong correlation between the shrinkage rate of the embroidered fabric and the drapability ratio of the original fabric, it was generally the case that the more pliable the fabric was, the greater the shrinkage rate was when the fabric was embroidered. Fourth, while the embroidery yarns mainly used in machine-embroidery presented an overall excellent level of colorfastness, there was slight color migration of level 4 to level 5 when using viscose rayon.
Deformation frequently occurring in injection molded products is a phenomenon displayed due to uneven shrinkage distribution and orientation of the whole molded product. Shrinkage deformation is a very serious problem because it causes deformation of the molded article and shortens the performance of the product. In this paper, we are focusing on the warpage of keypad in mobile phone. In other words, we focused on minimizing keypad deformation. In the study, the Taguchi method was applied to find the injection molding conditions that minimize the deformation of the keypad. In the case of this keypad, the main factors influencing the shrinkage deformation were predicted as the melting temperature, coolant temperature and cooling time. In addition, the optimum molding conditions were obtained and the shrinkage strain was minimized. Experiments for the Taguchi method and verification of optimal molding conditions were performed using an injection molding analysis program.
