  • Mathematical forecasting models and a practical computer based forecasting system are developed for planning production in a manufacturing and distribution network. The forecasting system works at the highest level of a hierarchical computer-based decision support system consisting of the forecasting system, an aggregate planning system and a shop floor scheduling system. The dynamics of business operations for an actual company have been considered to make this study a unique comprehensive analysis of a real world forecasting problem.

  • The real time control system for FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System) is implemented at this paper. To achieve this goal, the Colored and Timed Petri-Net model is constructed and used to simulate the real time operation of FMS. Using the Colored and Timed Petri-Net model, evaluating any kind of FMS plant is possible. On-line shceduler, intelligent dispatcher, real time monitor and the simulation model of shop floor are contructed using LAN communication, relational database system in this paper. Finally, this real time control system is applied to the FMS/CIM center at Seoul National University.

  • 본 연구에서는 객체지향 개념과 분산형 문제해결 방법의 장점을 혼합한 FMS 생산현장통제 시스템을 제안하였다. 제안된 시스템은 FMS의 모든 구성요소를 지능적인 객체로써 표현하고, 객체들간의 Bidding 과정을 통하여 생산 현장의 상태변화에 대응해 나가는 구조를 가지고 있다. 실험 결과, 제안된 시스템은 기존의 Dispatching rule에 비하여, job의 시스템내 체류시간이 감소하며 기계부하가 평준화되는 현상을 나타내었다.

  • In order to provide a manufacturing system with efficiency and flexibility to cope with the changes in shop floor status, the integration of process planning and operations scheduling is required. In this paper,an integrated system of process planning and operations scheduling based on the concept of process net model is presented. The process net model includes the alternative process plans. The integrated system is applied for prismatic parts.

  • This paper deals with the scheduling and simulation for FMC(Flexible Manufacturing Cells). In order to achieve CIM, there is a critical need to link factory level and machine level. The primary functions performed by this link for all jobs issued to the shop floor and cell include short-term scheduling and dynamic operational scheduling. Here, hierarchical control structure is introduced to define these functions. And Intelligent scheduling through expert module is adopted for efficiency of FMC operation. Computer simulation reveals that expert scheduling method is better than heuristics in various performance index.

  • A process planning system that generates alternative process plans offers multiple process plans for a part, thereby provides the flexibility to cope with the changes in shop floor status. In this paper, we introduce the concept of process net as a model for the generation of alternative process plans. We also show the usefulness of process net model by implementing the developed system to generate alternative process plans for rotational parts.

  • It is a time-consuming work to develop a control software for AGVS considering different physical arrangements and transport requirements in automated manufacturing systems. An integrated software environment is suggested to support the development of the control software by utilizing a simulation software which imitates changes in the target shop floor. First, the basic functions of the controller are defined and interactions between modules(function) are identified to enhance the modularity of the controller. Prototype software is developed for the simulation station and the control station, respectively, which are connected with each other by a communication link to transmit predefined messages.
