Death of spouse is the most heartbreaking stressful and inevitable tragic life event. In middle aged men who belong to the social middle class and accomplished their occupational success, experiences of spousal bereavement are great shock. The aim of this study was to find out how they overcome their mental and physical pain and to obtain the basic materials to develop suitable nursing care programs for them. The methodological approach of this study is Giorgi's phenomenological analysis meaning unit. This method also makes theme focal meaning, situated structural description and create general structural description grasped by participator's experience through situated structure description. This study performed from November 2002 to May 2004, and participators were four men. Data collected through in-depth personal interviews. which had been tapped and analysed the Giorgi's method. Finally, the five focal meaning below have been abstracted. Theme 1. Physical symptom loss of appetite, fatigue, insomnia. outbreak of illness, weight loss. Theme 2. life of spiritless lack of desire, sense of emptiness, unstableness, prosaic life. wandering. indifference of appearances, avoidance of meeting people. Theme 3. life of retrospction reflection for his wife, yearning, grief, muttering to himself, never-to-be forgotten wife, leading a lonely life. Theme 4. negative emotion reproaching, feeling hurt, marriage of daughter, feeling heavy, getting angry, sexual desire, awareness of his sinfulness. loneliness Theme 5. social support and adjustment getting his wife off his mind, curring favor with children, support and consolation by his daughter-in-law, appreciation for hospice nurse, considering remarriage, taking care of himself, good relation with his children. The result of this study showed that middle aged men bereaved of their wife by cancer need other's concern. And we have to study further to understand their experience. Until now hospice nursing is concentrated on cancer patients But from now we have to provide their families suitable nursing care programs to adjust themselves to social life before and after death of patients.

Car black box helps to investigate the cause of accident by recording time, position and videos as well as shock information. In addition, the car black box need a function to support safe driving for preventing accident. The representative driving support function is a lane departure warning. In order to implement the function, it is necessary to carry out the image processing to detect the lane first. The image processing algorithm requires computational burden to handle so much data and complicated structure of algorithm. This paper describes the efficient image processing algorithm with relatively low amount of computation for car black box embedded platform to detect lanes from the real-time lane image.
Flash memory is widely used as a storage medium of mobile devices such as MP3 players, cellular phones and digital cameras due to its tiny size, low power consumption and shock resistant characteristics. Currently, there are many studies to replace HDD with flash memory because of its numerous strong points. To use flash memory as a storage medium, FTL(Flash Translation Layer) is required since flash memory has erase-before-write constraints and sizes of read/write unit and erase unit are different from each other. Recently, new type of flash memory called "large block flash memory" is introduced. The large block flash memory has different physical structure and characteristics from previous flash memory. So existing FTLs are not efficiently operated on large block flash memory. In this paper, we propose an efficient FTL for large block flash memory based on FAST(Fully Associative Sector Translation) scheme and page-level mapping on data blocks.
For the purpose of defining the effects of the N-substituted alkyl groups on the anticonvulsant activities of N-Cbz-.alpha.-aminosuccinimides, various (R)- and (S)-N-alkyl substituted N-Cbz-.alpha.-aminosuccinimides (1 and 2) were prepared from the corresponding (R)- and (S)-N-Cbz-aspartic acid by using known reaction and were evaluated the anticonvulsant activies in the MES and PTZ tests, including their neurotoxicities. The most active compound in the MES test was (R)N-Cbz-.alpha.-amino-N-methylsuccinimide (1b) $(ED_{50}=52.5 mg/kg, Pl=3.2)$. And in case of the PTZ test, (R)-N-Cbz-.alpha.-amino-N-ethylsuccinimide (1c) was the most active compound $(ED_{50}/=32.5mg/kg, Pl=3.1)$. The order of anticonvulsant activities of these compounds against the MES test, as judged from the ED_50values for the R series (1), was N-methyl > N-isobutyl > non-substituted > N-ethyl, N-allyl > N-benzyl compound; for the S series (2) N-methyl > N-altyl > non-substituted > N-isobutyl > N-ethyl > N-benzyl compound. The anticonvulsant activities in the PTZ tests of these compounds exhibited somewhat different pattern ; for the R series (1) Nethyl > N-methyl > N-isobutyl> non-substituted > N-allyl > N-benzyl compound in order of decreasing activity; for S series (2) N-ethyl > N-allyl, non-substituted > N-isobutyl > N-methyl > N-benzyl compound in order of decreasing activity.

This paper describes experimental work to control supersonic jet noise using a mesh screen that is placed at the nozzle exit plane. The mesh screen is a wire-gauze screen that is made of long stainless wires with a very small diameter. The nozzle pressure ratio is varied to obtain the supersonic jets which are operated in a wide range of over-expanded to moderately under-expanded jets. In order to perturb mainly the initial jet shear layer, the hole is perforated in the central part of the mesh screen. The hole size is varied to investigate the noise control effectiveness of the mesh screen. A schlieren optical system is used to visualize the flow fields of supersonic jet with and without the mesh screen device. Acoustic measurement is performed to obtain the OASPL and noise spectra. The results obtained show that the present mesh screen device leads to a substantial suppression of jet screech tones. The hole size is an important factor in reducing the supersonic jet noise. For over-expanded jets, the noise control effectiveness of the mesh screen appears more significant, compared to correctly and under-expanded jets

Carbon fiber frames are actively developed for developing carbon fiber frames as the material of the next generation of bicycle frames, and are currently being developed with carbon fiber frames, hardness, shock absorption, light intensity, and strength. The carbon fiber bike models require a premium, differentiated design concept, which is essential to the development of a conceptual and differentiated design, requiring the development of essential structural structures, safety and refinement, and more of their own identity. In this study, a personal and unified image was derived from the research of the needs of consumers and image analysis process and then in the practical design work, the road bike bicycle frame design was proposed targeting the frame on the basis of carbon fiber materials.

In order to reduce or avoid oxidation problem at operation the interconnects in SOFCs have so far mostly been made of ceramic material. It has high chemical stability both under cathode and anode condition, relatively thermal expansion coefficient that matchs that of electrolyte material YSZ. But this material shown rather weak in the low oxygen atmosphere and thermal shock, and it has lower mechanical strength than alloys. To avoid these problems one may consider to use metals or alloys as materials for interconnects. Metallic interconnects are advantageous because of their high thermal and electronic conductivities. But it has some problems, Those are high thermal expansion and oxidation at high temperature in air. To solve these problems in the interconnection material in this study, $LaCrO_3$-dispersed Cr alloys for metallic interconnector of SOFC have been investigated as a fuction of $LaCrO_3$ content in the range of 5 to 25 vol.%. The Cr alloy were prepared by mixing Cr and $LaCrO_3$ powders in high-energy ball mill for 48h and by sintering under Ar atmosphere with 5vol.% $H_2$ for 10h at $1500^{\circ}C$. The alloys had a relative density of 95% and above. The Cr alloys in composed of two kind of small $LaCrO_3$ and large Cr particles. As the $LaCrO_3$ content increased, the Cr particle size decreased but the $LaCrO_3$ particle size remained contant. Also the oxidation tests show that the $LaCrO_3$-dispersed Cr is very resistant to oxidation in air. These results means that $LaCrO_3$-dispersed Cr is a useful material for metallic interconnect of planar SOFC.

An optical modulator Ti:LiNbO$_3$optical waveguide and CPW electrode structure were fabricated. The optical modulator was packaged using components such as ferrules, dirmy LN block and glass, vibration and shock absorbption pad, and alumina feeder through processings of pigtailing. Au wire bonding, epoxing, SMA connecting, sealing. The electrical and optical characteristics were measured after packaging. The electrical properties of S$_{21}$ and S$_{11}$ were obtained as 9.8 GHz at -3 dB and -8.9dB at 14.4GHz, respectively. Optical waveguide prepared met requirements for a single mode at a 1550nm wavelength range. Insertion loss was 4.3dB at room temperature after packaging, and was varied 4.3~6.4dB at various temperatures, 5~45$^{\circ}C$. E-O bandwidth measurement showed 3dB optical response at 7.8GHz, which means that it is applicable for 10Gbps optical communicationon

We present a kevlar rope based Non-Explosive Actuator(NEA) device which has simple structure and is activated by burning Ni-Cr wire. Through performance test, we find it can be operated under various pre-load by simply changing turn number of Ni-Cr wire. It shows release time of 680ms and shock level of 110G under pre-load of 6.0kN. Launching environment and space environment tests are planned to verify performance of the NEA based on European Satellite Agency test manual. Conclusively, we expect the proposed NEA can be applicable to release solar panel and fairing separation.
We have investigated 63 intense geomagnetic storms (Dst $\leq$ -100 nT) that occurred from 1998 to 2006. Using these events, we compared Dst forecast models: Burton et al. (1975), Fenrich and Luhmann (1998), O'Brien and McPherron (2000a), Wang et al. (2003), and Temerin and Li (2002, 2006) models. For comparison, we examined a linear correlation coefficient, RMS error, the difference of Dst minimum value (${\Delta}$peak), and the difference of Dst minimum time (${\Delta}$peak_time) between the observed and the predicted during geomagnetic storm period. As a result, we found that Temerin and Li model is mostly much better than other models. The model produces a linear correlation coefficient of 0.94, a RMS (Root Mean Square) error of 14.89 nT, a MAD (Mean Absolute Deviation) of ${\Delta}$peak of 12.54 nT, and a MAD of ${\Delta}$peak_time of 1.44 hour. Also, we classified storm events as five groups according to their interplanetary origin structures: 17 sMC events (IP shock and MC), 18 SH events (sheath field), 10 SH+MC events (Sheath field and MC), 8 CIR events, and 10 nonMC events (non-MC type ICME). We found that Temerin and Li model is also best for all structures. The RMS error and MAD of ${\Delta}$peak of their model depend on their associated interplanetary structures like; 19.1 nT and 16.7 nT for sMC, 12.5 nT and 7.8 nT for SH, 17.6 nT and 15.8 nT for SH+MC, 11.8 nT and 8.6 nT for CIR, and 11.9 nT and 10.5 nT for nonMC. One interesting thing is that MC-associated storms produce larger errors than the other-associated ones. Especially, the values of RMS error and MAD of ${\Delta}$peak of SH structure of Temerin and Li model are very lower than those of other models.
