가토 두개부 골결손에서 맥동전자기장이 골형성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A STUDY OF EFFECT OF PULSED ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS ON OSTEOGENESIS IN RABBIT CRANIAL BONE DEFECT)

  • Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) was used first to induce osteogenesis in 1974. The appliance which was consisted of the Helmholtz coil configuration have used to osteogensis. The objective of this study was to determine whether PEMF, a frequency of 100 Hz and magnetic field strength of 38 gauss applied to the calvarial defect in rabbit, could affect the induction of osteogenesis and the healing of the graft bone. This field should not produce excitation of nerve or muscle and heating the tissue. To evaluate the effect of PEMF on osteogenesis, 16 rabbit under the same condition was divided into 8 experimental groups and 8 control groups. 10 mm calvarial bone defects were formed around sagittal suture. The defect of left side was left without graft while the defect of right side was grafted by bone harvested from left side. A pulsed electromagnetic field was applied for 8 hours per day. Each group was sacrificed after 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks. Microscopic specimens were obtained from the calvarial bone defects and surrounding tissue using Hematoxylin-Eosin staining method. The results were as follows. 1. In the group which pulsed electromagnetic field was applied, new bone formation filled up the defect was observed after 4 and 8 weeks effectively. 2. There are no difference in the healing period for the fusion between the bone and graft bone. According to the result, the PEMF with 38 Gauss, 100 Hz was very effective in the healing of bone defect and new bone formation. So The PEMF will be useful in clinical aspect for oseteogenesis.

체-폐동맥루의 혈관 내 치료: 증례 보고 (Endovascular Treatment of a Systemic-to-Pulmonary Artery Fistula: A Case Report)

  • 체-폐동맥루는 주로 외상, 감염, 종양 등에 의해 유발될 수 있으나 위험 인자가 없는 환자에서 생기는 체-폐동맥루는 매우 드물다. 이들은 감염이나 출혈 혹은 폐 고혈압 등을 유발할 수 있어 치료가 필요하다. 호흡곤란을 주소로 내원한 67세 여자 환자에서 늑간동맥-폐동맥루가 발견되었다. 먼저 배출혈관인 확장된 폐동맥으로 역행성으로 접근하여 코일 색전술로 치료하였으나 5개월 후 인접폐동맥의 확장이 관찰되어 공급동맥인 늑간동맥을 N-butyl cyanoacrylate를 이용하여 색전하였다. 10개월 추적검사에서 환자의 증상과 확장된 폐동맥은 호전되었다. 체-폐동맥루를 치료에서 순차적 혹은 동시에 역방향과 순방향 접근으로 혈관 내 치료하는 것이 효과적일 수 있겠다.

한국에서의 농산물 및 환경시료에서 노로바이러스와 위생지표세균의 모니터링 (Monitoring of norovirus and indicator microorganisms from agricultural products and environmental samples in Korea)

  • 노로바이러스는 국내에서도 지속적으로 유행성 바이러스성 위장염을 일으키고 있다. 노로바이러스 저감화사업단(NOROTECL)의 1중 2세부과제에서는 농산물의 노로바이러스 오염 원인을 추적조사하여 노로바이러스 전파를 예방하고 저감화하기 위한 과제를 수행하였다. 2015년 1월부터 11월 사이에 노로바이러스와 관련이 있을 것으로 추정되는 80개 농산물, 80개 토양, 78개 인체분변, 3개 가축분변, 80개 농업용수, 80개 하천수 시료를 대상으로 노로바이러스, Male specific coliphage (MSC), 위생지표세균(Coliform, E. coli) 세 가지 검사를 통해 오염현황을 조사하였다. Semi-nested PCR과 DNA sequencing을 통해 18개의 Genogroup I과 3개의 Genogroup II 노로바이러스가 총 18개의 시료에서 발견되었다. Genogroup이 확정된 노로바이러스에 대하여 RT-PCR을 진행하였다. 대장균군과 대장균은 농산물에서 68%와 1%, 토양에서 88%와 7.5%, 인체분변에서 44%와 12.8%, 가축 분변에서 67%와 67%, 농업용수에서 74%와 30%, 하천수에서 96%와 51%의 검출율을 각각 나타냈다. MSC 결과에서는 14개의 시료가 양성으로 나타났다.

실활치의 교정적 치아이동시 치근 및 치주조직의 변화에 관한 실험적 연구 (THE ROOT RESORPTION AND THE PERIODONTAL TISSUE CHANGE AFTER ORTHODONTIC TOOTH MOVEMENT OF THE VITAL AND ENDODONTICALLY TREATED TOOTH IN THE DOG)

  • The objective of this experiment is to observe structural differences in the othodontic movement of vital (control group) and devitalized (experimental group) teeth in the mongrel dogs. The 5 utilized dogs in this experiment were approximately 1 year of age and their average weight was about 12 Kg. Endodontic therapy was performed on the 2nd premolars in upper & lower jaws of each animal under the general anesthesia by intravascular injection of 25mg/kg of pentobarbital sodium. The canals of the teeth were obturated by using gutta percha in conjunction with root canal sealer (AH26 Densply). One of the roots in the 2nd premolars was hemisected to make an extraction space for the devitalized teeth to be moved. The edgewise technique was employed for the movement of the teeth. Orthodontic models and intraoral roentgenograms were taken before and after orthodontic tooth movement. The open coil springs (.010 x .040) were used at interbraket space in order to provide equal forces (75gm) between the teeth in each arch wire. After 13 weeks of active orthodontic tooth movement, dogs were sacrified and the experimental results w ere examined through the intraoral radiography, microscopic examination and scanning electromicroscopic examination at the root sulfate. From the results of the study, the following conclusions may be drawn: The root resolution and cemental deposition were observed within the pressure and tension site in both group. 2. The root resorbed lacunae were observed in the cementum and/or into the dentin in both group. 3. The prominent osteoblastic activities were observed on the alveolar margin in the tension site in both group. 4. A few of blood vessels were observed in the pressure site, but also lots of blood vessels were observed in the tension site especially in the periphery of the alveolar bone in both group. 5. In the pressure site, resorbed lacunae were formed with deep and narrow cavity in the control group; the shallow and wide cavity in the experimental group. 6. In the pressure site, the repaired cementum or cementoid tissue was lined on cementum in the experimental group, but not in the control group. 7. There was no significant difference between external root resolution of endodontically and vital teeth when both were subjected to orthodontic forces.
