The objective of this paper was to evaluate the shear bond strength of luting glass ionomer cement with defferent calcium based solution treatment on dentin surface. 120 extracted human teeth were classified into 12 group based on presence of smear layer on dentin surface and type of treatment solution. Smear layer remove on dentin surface was done using 6% citric acid for 60 seconds. Five different dentin surface treatment solutions(calcium acetate, calcium carbonate, clacium chlorided, calcium hydroxide, and calcium phosphate) were evaluated in this study. After surface modification, metal ring(inner diameter : 3mm, depth : 1mm) was placed to expose the same dentin surface area and inner space was filled with luting glass ionomer cement according to the recommended procedure for stadard clinical procedure. The shear bond strength of glass ionomer cement was determined after 24 hours. SEM was used for the evaluation of the surface morphologic changes and EDAX analysis was done for determination of the change of the calcium contents of treated dentin. Follwing conclusion can be drawn : 1. In the group of the dentin surface with smear layer, the calcium carbonate solution was the most effective for the increase of the clacium content and the shear bond strength of glass ionomer cement to dentin surfaces. 2. In the group of the calcium carbonate treated dentin with msear layer, the shear bond strength was increased twice compared to the control group and cohesive failure mode was observed. 3. The shear bond strength of cement was increased significantly be the removal of smear layer using 6% citric aicd. However, additional calcium solution treatments were not effective for further bond strength increase. 4. The shear bond strength of cement was significantly improved by both of the removal of smear layer and the calcium solution treatment, and the former was more effective for bond strength improvement. 5. The smear layer removed/calcium solution treated groups showed dentinal tubule obstruction and crystal attachment in SEM evaluation. However, the shear bond strengths of these groups were not increased compared to the smear layer removed/no dentin treatment group.
Flow interference is investigated between two tripped cylinders of identical diameter D at stagger angle ${\alpha}=0^{\circ}{\sim}180^{\circ}$ and gap spacing ratio $P^*$ (= P/D) = 0.1 ~ 5, where ${\alpha}$ is the angle between the freestream velocity and the line connecting the cylinder centers, and P is the gap width between the cylinders. Two tripwires, each of diameter 0.1D, were attached on each cylinder at azimuthal angle ${\beta}={\pm}30^{\circ}$, respectively. Time-mean drag coefficient ($C_D$) and fluctuating drag ($C_{Df}$) and lift ($C_{Lf}$) coefficients on the two tripped cylinders were measured and compared with those on plain cylinders. We also conducted surface pressure measurements to assimilate the fluid dynamics around the cylinders. $C_D$, $C_{Df}$ and $C_{Lf}$ all for the plain cylinders are strong function of ${\alpha}$ and $P^*$ due to strong mutual interference between the cylinders, connected to six interactions (Alam and Meyer 2011), namely boundary layer and cylinder, shear-layer/wake and cylinder, shear layer and shear layer, vortex and cylinder, vortex and shear layer, and vortex and vortex interactions. $C_D$, $C_{Df}$ and $C_{Lf}$ are very large for vortex and cylinder, vortex and shear layer, and vortex and vortex interactions, i.e., the interactions where vortex is involved. On the other hand, the interference as well as the strong interactions involving vortices is suppressed for the tripped cylinders, resulting in insignificant variations in $C_D$, $C_{Df}$ and $C_{Lf}$ with ${\alpha}$ and $P^*$. In most of the (${\alpha}$, $P^*$ ) region, the suppressions in $C_D$, $C_{Df}$ and $C_{Lf}$ are about 58%, 65% and 85%, respectively, with maximum suppressions 60%, 80% and 90%.
In this experiment, to find optimum brazing conditions for Cu/Stainless Steel brazing using filler metals of Ag-Cu-Zn-Cd system, first of all spreading ratio was tested on 304 stainless Steel and low carbon steel. And then shear test of brazed joint was executed. As the result of that, the shear strengths of brazed joints were the range of 60-90 MPa. Through microstructure analysis for brazed interface layer, We found as follows. Firstly interface layer increased as time increased. Secondly continuous layer of Ag-Cd compound was observed along the side of stainless steel. Also by means of EDS analysis for fracture surface, ductile fracture was occurred and precipitates on the fracture surface were found to include Cr, Mn, Si in Ag-rich phase.

A CPM (computational preston tube method) was developed to measure wall shear stress in a transitional boundary layer on a flat plate using Preston tubes. Correlation for the displacement factor of Preston tubes was improved for a CPM to be used in the transitional boundary layer. The distribution of skin-friction coefficient was reasonably predicted in the uniform free stream of 3.1% turbulence intensity. Reasonable and accurate estimation of displacement factor of Preston tubes was found to be of crucial importance for the CPM, especially in the laminar boundary layer. The mean velocity profiles of the boundary layer on the plate were also measured and presented.
The characteristics of adhesive bonded joint of steels for automobile were investigated. Shear and tear strength were tested and analyzed for the joints of cold rolled steel sheets bonded with three kinds of epoxy and urethane based adhesive. The results showed that the tensile shear strength and the tear strength of adhesive joint were affected by the shape of adhesive joint such as the length and width of adhesive joint. The thickness of adhesive layer was very important factor affecting the bonding strength. The shear strength increased with decrease of the thickness of adhesive layer, while the tear strength decreased as the thickness of adhesive layer decreased. In comparison with the strength of spot welded joint, the shear strength of adhesive Joint was higher than that of spot welded joint, but the tear strength of adhesive Joint was lower than that of spot welded joint.
An equivalent single-layer theory (EST) is put forward for analyzing free vibrations of steel-concrete composite beams (SCCB) based on a higher-order beam theory. In the EST, the effect of partial interaction between sub-beams and the transverse shear deformation are taken into account. After using the interlaminar shear force continuity condition and the shear stress free conditions at the top and bottom surface, the displacement function of the EST does not contain the first derivatives of transverse displacement. Therefore, the C0 interpolation functions are just demanded during its finite element implementation. Finally, the EST is validated by comparing the results of two simply-supported steel-concrete composite beams which are tested in laboratory and calculated by ANSYS software. Then, the influencing factors for free vibrations of SCCB are analyzed, such as, different boundary conditions, depth to span ratio, high-order shear terms, and interfacial shear connector stiffness.

Shear strength of BGA solder joints on Cu pad was studied for Cu-contained Sn n.5 a and 2.5wt.% Cu) and Sn-Pb (o.5wt.% Cu) solders, with emphasis on the roles of the C Cu-Sn intermetallic layer thickness and the roughness of the interface between the i intermetallic layer and solder. The shear strength test was performed both for a as-soldered s이der joints with soldering reaction times of 1, 2, 4 min and for aged s이der j joints at 170 C up to 16 days. The Cu addition to both pure Sn and eutectic Sn-Pb s solders increased the intermetallic layer thickness at both soldering and aging t temperatures. The Cu addition also resulted in changes in the roughness of the interface b between the intermetallic layer and solder at as-soldered states. With increasing Cu c content. the interface roughened for Sn-Cu solders whereas it flattened for Sn-Pb-Cu s solders. The shear fractures in all solder joints investigated were confined in the bulk s solder rather than through the intermetallic layer. Therefore, the effect of Cu content in s solders on the shear strength of the solder joints was primarily attributed to its i influence on the micros$\sigma$ucture of bulk solder, such as the size and spatial distributions of CU6Sn5 precipitates. In addition, the critical intermetallic layer thickness for a m maximum shear strength seemed to depend on the Cu content in bulk solder.older.
Vertical fence has the coherent flow structure in front of the fence. In the present study, the wake change due to the flow separator in front of the vertical fence was experimentally investigated. Quantitative method was applied to study the separated shear flow field. The results show the flow separator changes the downstream shear flow and alters the curvature of separated shear layer As the freestream velocity increased, the reattachment length also increased.
Functionally graded material (FGM) illustrates a novel class of composites that consists of a graded pattern of material composition. FGM is engineered to have a continuously varying spatial composition profile. Current work focused on buckling analysis of beam made of stepwise linear and quadratic graded material in axial direction subjected to axial span-load with piecewise function and rested on shear layer based on classical beam theory. The various boundary and natural conditions including simply supported (S-S), pinned - clamped (P-C), axial hinge - pinned (AH-P), axial hinge - clamped (AH-C), pinned - shear hinge (P-SHH), pinned - shear force released (P-SHR), axial hinge - shear force released (AH-SHR) and axial hinge - shear hinge (AH-SHH) are considered. To the best of the author's knowledge, buckling behavior of this kind of Euler-Bernoulli beams has not been studied yet. The equilibrium differential equation is derived by minimizing total potential energy via variational calculus and solved analytically. The boundary conditions, natural conditions and deformation continuity at concentrated load insertion point are expressed in matrix form and nontrivial solution is employed to calculate first buckling loads and corresponding mode shapes. By increasing truncation order, the relative error reduction and convergence of solution are observed. Fast convergence and good compatibility with various conditions are advantages of the proposed method. A MATLAB code is provided in appendix to employ the numerical procedure based on proposed method.

An investigation was performed to study the matrix cracking and delamination in laminated composite plates due to transverse impact. A model was developed for predicting the initiation of the matrix cracking and the shape and size of impact-induced delamination in laminated composite plates resulting from the ballistic impact. The model consists of a stress analysis and a failure analysis. A transient finite element analysis which was based on the higher-order shear deformation theory was adopted for calculating the stresses inside the laminated composite plates during impact. A failure analysis was used to predict the initial intraply matrix cracking and the shape and size of the interface delamination in the laminates. As a results, a shear matrix cracking which was governed by the transverse interlaminar shear stress occured at the middle layer near the midplane of laminates and a bending matrix cracking which was governed by the transverse inplane stress occured at the bottom layer near the surface of laminates. In a thick laminates, a shear matrix cracking generated first at the middle layer of laminates, but in a thin laminates, a bending matrix cracking generated first at the bottom layer of laminates.
