Finding a head of a person in a scene is very important for taking a well composed picture by a robot photographer because it depends on the position of the head. So in this paper, we propose a robust head tracking algorithm using a hybrid of an omega shape tracker and local binary pattern (LBP) AdaBoost face detector for the robot photographer to take a fine picture automatically. Face detection algorithms have good performance in terms of finding frontal faces, but it is not the same for rotated faces. In addition, when the face is occluded by a hat or hands, it has a hard time finding the face. In order to solve this problem, the omega shape tracker based on active shape model (ASM) is presented. The omega shape tracker is robust to occlusion and illuminationchange. However, whenthe environment is dynamic, such as when people move fast and when there is a complex background, its performance is unsatisfactory. Therefore, a method combining the face detection algorithm and the omega shape tracker by probabilistic method using histograms of oriented gradient (HOG) descriptor is proposed in this paper, in order to robustly find human head. A robot photographer was also implemented to abide by the 'rule of thirds' and to take photos when people smile.
The principal features of a face are as follows : skin-tone, symmetry, and requisites such as shape of ellipse, eyes, nose, mouth. Also, faces have different size, various shape and position. In case of application of face recognition and detection without preprocessing, efficiency of the performance is decreased. In addition, face itself, complex background, image quality, etc. are included. Therefore, previous face recognition methods are implemented on the base of specific constraints of the face image. In this paper, we propose the efficient and automatic face detection algorithm for minimizing influence such as complex background, image quality, etc. This face detection technique consists of skin-tone, candidate face region and face region extractions.
the author studied the corelativity between the head and face and the maxillary arch in Korean. This study was undertaker in 336 persons at age from 9 to 19 years who had normal occlusion by means of angle's classification. The following results were obtained. 1. The corelative coefficient between the Height of Head and Face (H.H.F.) and the Arch Length (A.L.) was 0.203-0.543, 2. The corelative coefficient between the Bizygomatic width (Z.W.) and the Bicanine width (C-C) was 0.203-0.543. 3. The corelative coefficient between the Bizygomatic width (Z.W.) and the Bimolar width (M-M) was 0.206-0.600. 4. The corelative coefficient between the Face shape (Index a) and Maxillaxy arch shape (In-dex c) was 0.232-0.404. 5. The corelative coefficient between the Face shape (Index a) and Maxillary arch shape (Index d) was 0.221-0.401. 6. There was no corelativity between the Anterior-posterior width of head (A.P.W.) and Arch Length A.L.), Head shape (Index b) and Maxillary arch shape (Index c, Index d).
In this research, optical fiber sensors and shape memory alloys (SMA) were incorporated into sandwich panels for development of a smart honeycomb sandwich structure with damage detection and shape recovery functions. First, small-diameter fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors were embedded in the adhesive layer between a CFRP face-sheet and an aluminum honeycomb core. From the change in the reflection spectrum of the FBG sensors, the debonding between the face-sheet and the core and the deformation of the face-sheet due to impact loading could be well detected. Then, the authors developed the SMA honeycomb core and bonded CFRP face-sheets to the core. When an impact load was applied to the panel, the cell walls of the core were buckled and the face-sheet was bent. However, after the panel was heated over the reverse transformation finish temperature of the SMA, the core buckling disappeared and the deflection of the face-sheet was relieved. Hence the bending stiffness of the panel could be recovered.
This study is to help make-up and coordination for image-making after analysis of facial color and shape of elderly women. The data was analyzed 55-75 years old 212 elderly women's face color and pictures by means of SPSS 12.0 statistics package. On the basis of the colorimetric data on face by Minolta CM2500D, this research considered the analysis of facial color, patternization of facial color and its analysis by age group; for the analysis of facial shape, this research patternized facial shape and analyzed its characteristic using both contour-based facial shape analysis and Kamata facial shape analysis. As for facial color, it was found that the lower age bracket has bright and reddish face, looking fine, while the higher age bracket has a conspicuously yellowish face, looking bad. The community of facial color is classified as 3 types and it was found out that the facial color of the subjects belonging to Type 3, whose L value is the largest, looked the brightest; the face of the subjects belonging to Type 2, whose a value is the largest, was much tinged with red, and the face of the subjects belonging to Type 1, whose b value is the largest were tinged with yellow. According to the analysis of facial shape, there appeared oval & long forms in the classification by contour, while there appeared a lot of downward-directed power and inner-directed power in the classification by Kamata, which is believed to reflect the phenomenon that their chin line becomes roundish and the facial length also tend to be longer due to aging.

Purpose It has been stated that patient satisfaction is the crucial factor for determining success in plastic surgery. The convergence of medical science and computer vision has made easier to satisfy patients who wants to have plastic surgery. In this paper, we try to apply 3D face modeling in plastic surgical area. Materials and Methods The author introduces a method for accurate 3D face modeling techniques using a statistical model-based 3D face modeling approach in a mirror system. Results We could successfully obtain highly accurate 3D face shape results. Conclusion The method suggested could be used for acquiring 3D face models from 2D face image and the result obtained from this could be effectively used for plastic surgical areas.
The objective of this study is to analyze the formative attributes of face by measuring the shape and features of face. The faces of women in 20's were taken by digital camera and measured, then it has conducted a statistical analysis using a SPSS for factor analysis, correlation and cluster analysis. The findings are that it is consisted of six(6) different factors and it is responsible for 73.93%. In Factor 1 and Factor 2, it has explained the most significant factor to determine the shape of face. The result on cluster analysis is that it is classified into 5 groups and it is as follows. Attributes of each group is that Group 1 has a wide and long forehead, small and longish chin-line and chubby cheeks that represent polished and modern images, while Group 2 has small and longish forehead and chin-line that represent classical and mature images. On the other hand, Group 3 has a narrow forehead, small and longish chin-line and upward-style eyebrows that represents provocative images, whereas Group 4 has a shaped style that represent intellectual images and Group 5 has small and longish forehead and chin-line and cheekbones that represent polished and cute images.

This paper proposes a novel face detection method that finds tiny faces located at a long range even with low-resolution input images captured by a mobile robot. The proposed approach can locate extremely small-sized face regions of $12{\times}12$ pixels. We solve a tiny face detection problem by organizing a system that consists of multiple detectors including a mean-shift color tracker, short- and long-rage face detectors, and an omega shape detector. The proposed method adopts the long-range face detector that is well trained enough to detect tiny faces at a long range, and limiting its operation to only within a search region that is automatically determined by the mean-shift color tracker and the omega shape detector. By focusing on limiting the face search region as much as possible, the proposed method can accurately detect tiny faces at a long distance even with a low-resolution image, and decrease false positives sharply. According to the experimental results on realistic databases, the performance of the proposed approach is at a sufficiently practical level for various robot applications such as face recognition of non-cooperative users, human-following, and gesture recognition for long-range interaction.

For the treatment of high compressibility number in the Reynolds equation, a new class of exponential high-order shape functions has been recently introduced in the literatures. In this paper a FE lubrication analysis method of high speed gas mechanical face seals is developed, implementing these shape functions. Their validity and usefulness are presented using 1-D gas bearing models. And a validation of developed 2-D analysis code is shown with a gas flat and spiral groove face seal models.

In this paper, We explained the best shape design of electrode for discharge on the water. Electrode with rounding was reduced maximum electric field of over 40% to electrode without rounding for discharge on the water and the best shape of electrode for discharge on the water designed when shape of electrode had a curve radius of over $60^{\circ}$ at electrode's face to electrode's face with minimum distance and a curve radius of under $120^{\circ}$ at electrode's side face to electrode's front face. And When dielectric beads are used between electrodes, the life of electrodes is improved by lower stress of electric field on surface of electrodes.
