In this paper calculations of magnetisation and magnetoresistance characteristics of the Spin Valve (SV) and Pseudo Spin Valve (PSV) spintronics structures are reported and compared with the experimental data. The magnetisation reversal process was analysed with respect to the Stoner- Wohlfahrt model of total surface energy in terms of uniaxial anisotropy, exchange coupling between ferromagnetic layers, unidirectional exchange anisotropy of pinned layer (modelled by exchange coupling between magnetisation of pinned layer and net magnetisation of antiferromagnetic layer with high anisotropy). The numerical simulation of the model to the experimental magnetisation data yielded the above parameters for SV and PSV structures. These parameters were used to more sophistically micromagnetic modelling tool originating from the project called Object Oriented Micromagnetic Framework. Influence of the shape anisotropy of the Magnetic Tunnelling Junction cell used in MRAM was simulated by means of micromagnetic simulations. Results were compared to those obtained from the spot Kerr measurements.

A fluxgate magnetic sensor consists of a solenoid excitation coil, pick-up coil, and magnetic core. We presents the effect of magnetic core shape in a micromachined fluxgate sensor. To observe the performance of fluxgate sensor with magnetic core side width and gap, side width of 125 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 250 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and 500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were designed in a rectangular-ring shaped core and the gaps of 0 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 50 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and 100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were also fabricated in a racetrack shaped core. The solenoid coils and magnetic core were separated by benzocyclobutane(BCB) which had high insulation and good planarization characters. Copper coil patterns of 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ width and 6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness were electroplated on Ti(300 $\AA$) / Cu(1500 $\AA$) seed layers. 3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick N $i_{0.8}$F $e_{0.2.}$(permalloy) film for the magnetic core was also electroplated under 2000 gauss to induce the magnetic anisotropy. The magnetic core had the high DC effective permeability of ∼1,300 and coercive field of ∼0.1 Oe. Because the magnetic cores of 500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ side width and 0 gap had a low magnetic flux leakage, high sensitivity of ∼350 V/T were measured at excitation condition of 3 $V_{P-P}$ and 2 MHz square wave. The power consumption of ∼14 ㎽ was measured. The fabricated fluxgate sensor had the very small actual size of 3.0${\times}$1.7 $\textrm{mm}^2$. When two fluxgates were perpendicularly aligned in terrestrial field, their two-axis output signals were very useful to commercialize an electronic azimuth compass for the portable navigation system.m.m.m.
Soft ferromagnetic materials are very useful for many sensors using magnetic materials demanding high permeability, low coercivity and low hysteresis loss. Among them, FeCoSiBNi amorphous magnetic films show a good impedance change (about 5.01 %/Oe, at 10 MHz) by the exterinal magnetic field in this experiment. The magnetic films are produced by melt-spun method, one of the rapid solidification process. Ribbon shape wires were made from the films, and let them annealed in DC magnetic field to increase the maximum Giant Magneto Impedance ratio. Field annealing decreases the stress and changes the effective anisotropy. Thus, we can find that the impedance change (200.47 %) is improved and the fabricated magnetic wire has characteristics of good sensor element.

Magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of Tb-Fe and Tb-Fe-B thin films are systematically investigated over a wide composition range from 40.2 to 68.1 at. % Tb. The films were fabricated by rf magnetron sputtering using a composite target which consists of an Fe plate and Tb chips. The microstructure, examined by X-ray diffraction, mainly consists of an amorphous phase and, at high Tb contents, a pure Tb phase also exists. A progressive change in the direction of anisotropy from the perpendicular to in-plane occurs as the Tb content increases and the boundary at which the anisotropy change occurs shifts significantly towards to higher Tb contents with the addition of B. The saturation magnetization exhibits maxima at the Tb contents of 42 and 48 at. % for Tb-Fe and Tb-Fe-B thin films, respectively, and it is decreased by the addition of B. The coercive force, measured in the easy direction, decreases monotonically with the Tb content. Excellent magnetostrictive characteristics, particularly at low magnetic fields, are achieved in both Tb-Fe and Tb-Fe-B thin films; for example, a magnetostriction of 138 ppm is obtained in a Tb-Fe-B thin film at a magnetic field as low as 30 Oe. The excellent magnetostrictive properties of the present thin films are supported by the equally excellent magnetic softness, the coercivity below 10 Oe and a typical squared-loop shape with the saturation field as low as 1 kOe. Due to the excellent low field magnetostrictive characteristics, the present Tb-Fe based thin films are thought to be suitable for Si based microdevices.

This paper describes a MEMS-based micro-fluxgate magnetic sensing element using Ni$\_$0.8/Fe$\_$0.2/ film formed by electroplating. The micro-fluxgate magnetic sensor composed of a thin film magnetic core and micro-structured solenoids for the pick-up and the excitation coils, is developed by using MEMS technologies in order to take advantage of low-cost, small size and lower power consumption in the fabrication. A copper with 20um width and 3um thickness is electroplated on Cr(300${\AA}$)/Au(1500${\AA}$) films for the pick-up(42turn) and the excitation(24turn) coils. In order to improve the sensitivity of the sensing element, we designed the magnetic core into a rectangular-ring shape to reduce the magnetic flux leakage. An electroplated permalloy film with the thickness of 3 $\mu\textrm{m}$ is obtained under 2000Gauss to induce magnetic anisotropy. The magnetic core has the high DC effective permeability of ∼1,100 and coercive field of -0.1Oe. The fabricated sensing element using rectangular-ring shaped magnetic film has the sensitivity of about 150V/T at the excitation frequency of 2MHz and the excitation voltage of 4.4Vp-p. The power consumption is estimated to be 50mW.

We report on the epitaxial growth of tetragonal $DO_{22}$-type Mn3Ga films on GaSb (001) using molecular beam epitaxy and the related structural and magnetic properties. The as-studied $Mn_3Ga$ film was found to exhibit relatively small coercivity around 400 Oe, which differs greatly from the hard magnetic properties of $Mn_3Ga$ bulk specimen or films that are normally reported. This difference was probably attributed to the effects of the GaSb (001) substrate that forced the $Mn_3Ga$ film to be two-dimensionlly stabilized in the (114) orientation and thus led to the modified intrinsic properties of $Mn_3Ga$ films. The growth orientation of the Mn3Ga (114)//GaSb (001) also caused the easy magnetocrystalline direction located in the film plane due to the dominant shape anisotropy in the thin films.
In granite quarry, stones are generally quarried along easily separating planes called as 'rock cleavage'. Because orientation and characteristics of the rock cleavage are directly involved with easy quarrying, it is the most important factor on selecting a direction of digging. Using AMS (anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility), we attempt to interpret rock fabrics in Geochang Granite Stone (JS, SD, AR, GD, BW, MD quarry) and discuss about determination of rock cleavages and correlation between the rock fabrics and cleavages. Based on mean susceptibility, thermo-susceptibility curves, and hysteresis parameters, Ti-poor MD and/or PSD magnetites are the main contributor to AMS of the granite stones. The systematic magnetic foliations with sub-vertical dip angle are developed in the whole granite quarries. In most of the granite quarries, the magnetic foliations are significantly consistent with grain plane. In the BW quarry, which has higher $P_J$ values than the others, the magnetic foliations coincide exceptionally with rift plane. These results suggest that rock cleavages in granite stone are related to rock fabrics meaning shape and spatial arrangement of crystals. Magnetic fabrics analysis using AMS method, therefore, can be a quantitative and effective tool for determination of rock cleavages in granite quarry.
We report the results of structural field observation and measurement of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) of the diamictitic Hwanggangri Formation distributed in Chungju-Suanbo area of the Okchon Belt, Korea. The outcrops of the Hwanggangri Formation show two types of cleavage in general: slaty cleavage (SI) and crenulation cleavage (5z). 5] cleavage is, however, well observable only in the notheastem (NE) part of study area, while overwhelmed by 52 cleavage in the southwestern (5W) part, indicating stronger later deformation in 5W part of the study area. This partitioning of the study area is corroborated by both IRM and AMS parameters: NE part of the study area is characterized by higher IRM intensity, higher bulk magnetic susceptibility, higher AM5 degree, and by oblate shape of magnetic susceptibility ellipsoid. Their values become drastically lowered toward southwest, and reach to a stable minimum in the whole 5W part of the study area. In addition, degree of both metamorphism and deformation tends to increase gradually from northeast toward southwest and also from northwest toward southeast in the study area. Based on the distribution pattern of the principal axes ( $k_1, k_2, k_3$ axes) of magnetic anisotropy ellipsoids revealed in the NE part of the study area, three episodes of deformation ( $D_1, D_2, D_3$ ) are recognized: D_1$ deformation produced $S_2$ cleavage with NE-5W trend, which is caused by a strong NW-SE tlattening of a coaxial pure shear. $D_2$ deformation produced 5z cleavage characterized by a non-coaxial deformation. It was caused by a ductile or semi-ductile thrusting toward NW and concurrent sinistral shearing along $S_2$ cleavage plane. Lastly, $D_3$ deformation produced tlexural folding of all previous structures with a nearly horizontal NE fold axis. Distribution pattern of the principal axes of magnetic anisotropy ellipsoid from the SW part of the study area, on the other hand, does not show any coherency among sites or samples. We interpret that this dispersed pattern of $k_1, k_2, k_3$ axes together with lower anisotropy strength indicates that magnetic fabrics in the SW part have been disturbed either by a superposition of strong deformation/metamorphism or by a kind of reciprocal strain due to an overlapping of $D_1$ and $D_2$ or by both processes.

High frequency electromagnetic(EM) waves are increasingly being applied in industries because of saturationat lower frequency bands as a result of huge demand. However, electromagneticinterference (EMI) has become a serious problem, and as a result, highfrequency EM absorbers are now being extensively studied. Also, recentdevelopments in absorber technology have focused on producing absorbers thatare thin, flexible, and strong. Hence, one-dimension ferrous nano-materials area potential research field, because of their interesting electronic andmagnetic properties. Commercially, EM wave absorbing products are made ofcomposites, which blend the insulating polymer with magnetic fillers. Inparticular, the shape of the magnetic fillers, such flaky, acicular, or fibrousmagnetic metal particles, rather than spherical, is essential for synthesizingthin and lightweight EM wave absorbers with higher permeability. High aspectratio materials exhibit a higher permeability value and therefore betterabsorption of the EM wave, because of electromagnetic anisotropy. Nanowires areusually fabricated by drawing, template synthesis, phase separation, selfassembly, and electrospinning with a thermal treatment and reduction process.Producing nanowires by the electrospinning method involves a conventionalsol-gel process that is simple, unique, and cost-effective. In thispresentation, Magnetic nanowire and dielectric materials coated magneticnanowire with a high aspect ratio were successfully synthesized by theelectrospinning process with heat treatment and reduction. In addition toestimating the EM wave absorption ability of the synthesized magnetic anddielectric materials coated magnetic nanowire with a network analyzer, weinvestigated the possibility of using these nanowires as high-frequency EM waveabsorbers. Furthermore, a wide variety of topics will be discussed such as thetransparent conducting nanowire and semiconducting nanowire/tube with theelectrospinning process.
