Low temperature dyeing properties of wool with reactive dyes and acid dyes were investigated for the feasibility study of their application to hair dyeing. The low temperature(30℃, 40℃) dyeing achieved light depth of shade in wool dyeing and reactive dyeing exhibited relatively higher color strength and chroma values than acid dyeing. Leveling agent slightly improved the levelness of the wool dyeing and the leveling properties of dyed wool at low temperature were good to excellent, irrespective of the dyes applied. Color loss during the repeated shampooing was in the range of 9.6~22.2% for reactive dyes and -7.4~31.5% for acid dyes and in some cases, the color fastness to shampooing was reasonable level. The overall experimental results showed that the application of low temperature wool reactive dyeing to hair dyeing is sufficiently feasible in terms of dyeability and color fastness to shampooing.
This study attempted to investigate what color would fade more during hair bleaching and examine what should be done to make hair color last longer. For this, hair was colored differently in ash gray with permanent hair dyes and semi-permanent hair dyes each. Hair in multiple levels was created through such bleaching. Color retention was improved in consideration of the degree of color fading in sample hair. In terms of post-bleaching hair coloring, it was more efficient to color hair by eliminating redness without hair damage after shampooing with a permanent hair dye. Therefore, it is anticipated that the study results would be highly useful for beauty salons to find a base level in consideration of bleaching effects and make improve- ments according to hair retention and moisturizing effects.
People are always pursuing the aesthetic feeling relentlessly. But some people have such problems with their hairs like alopecia, cancer chemotherapy, burns, and scalp injury. So the synthetic hair has played a very important role to make up for these deficiencies. But long term use can lead to adverse reactions or uncomfortable feeling. This is primarily caused by its properties differ with human hair. In particular, nanotribological characterizations (roughness, friction force and adhesive force) of synthetic hair surface are dissatisfy with the needs of normal hairs. This paper presents the experiments on nanotribological characterizations measurements of human hairs (coloring hair, permed hair and common hair) in shampooing condition or without shampooing condition. Using atomic force microscopy (AFM) to find out a range of synthetic hair nanotribological characterizations which can correspond with natural hair. The measurements of nanotribological characterizations focus on surface roughness, friction force and adhesive force, and a new design of AFM probe was used for measuring the nanotribological characterizations.

Purpose: This study was done to develop data for a hygiene promotion program for elders living on rural islands. Method: Self-administered questionnaires were used to collect data. Results: Most of the elders reported brushed their teeth and washing their faces twice a day. For other types of washing, 98.8% of reported washing their hands after the toilet and 22.8% reported washing their anus after defecation. Most of the elders reported changing their underwear two to three times a month and cutting their nails more than four times a month. Itchiness was reported by 24%. There were significant differences according to age for teeth brushing, face washing, shampooing, bathing, washing hands after the toilet, and cutting nails. According to sex, there were significant differences in teeth brushing, face washing, washing hands after using the toilet, washing anus after defecation, changing underwear, cutting nails, and feeling itchy. The elders showed significant differences in bathing, changing underwear, and cutting nails according to subjective economic status. They showed significant differences in teeth brushing and changing underwear when they lived with their families. Conclusion: In order to develop a proper hygiene promotion program for the elderly, their age, sex, and physical condition should be considered as well as their environmental, economical, and geographical condition.
This study has attempted to figure out the effects of the surface heat of perm rods on hair. For this, after forming perm waves, hair damage and its causes have been investigated with a different hair bleach method. If hair was bleached immediately without shampooing after a perm using the heat of rods, great perm waves were formed. However, severe damage was found on the hair because of the heated rods. In addition, when hair was shampooed and dried after the perm, hair bleach was more effective. It has been confirmed that hair was damaged because of high temperature of the surface of the rods. In fact, the heated rods had a direct effect on hair damage. According to these results, it has been confirmed that heat-based perms can accelerate hair damage. Therefore, it is necessary to perform a study on the minimization of the heating of permanent tools.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify effectiveness of fundamental nursing practices in clinical settings. Method: This study adopted the triangulation method. Using one group pre-post test design, this study identified differences in self efficacy between pre and post clinical practice. The study was also designed to describe the nursing student's experience of clinical practice by using content analysis Results: 1) All students experienced bedmaking, BST check, V/C check, positioning, transferring, assisting with moving and positioning, and ROM. Sixty percent of students experienced giving oral care, and forty percent experienced shampooing patient's hair. 2) While the mean score of self efficacy was 3.88 in the pre-test, it decreased to 3.76 in the post-test. They were statistically different from each other. 3) Seven categories were elicited from the result of content analysis on the nursing student's experience, which were 'ignorant stranger', 'facing the gap between theory and practice', 'resolving the uncertainty of clinical setting', 'getting used to fundamental nursing practice', 'motivated by a desire to study and self-development', 'understanding the nursing profession's job', and 'being helpful for the future career'. Conclusion: Fundamental nursing practice in clinical settings is a useful strategy that improves fundamental nursing skills and motivates student's self-development.
This study aimed to help the college students majoring in beauty to have interests and manage the functional areas of scalp and hair by accurately identifying the condition of scalp and hair and realizing the convergence management habit and subjective symptoms for the condition. The study conducted a survey on 160 beauty major college universities in their 20s living in the Jeonnam area by asking the subjects to directly write the answers. The study found that many subjects had combination type of scalps and hair problems of split ends and thin hair, and recognized that their hair was damaged. They answered that frequent dyeing and perm caused the damage and they were using the shampoo for damaged hair to prevent hair damage. Regarding the observable symptoms on scalp and hair, it was identified that self-perception was higher as the interest in scalp was high, which influenced age and sleeping time.
The purpose of this study is to compare hair care behaviors between Korean and Australian women whose individual hair characteristics, social backgrounds, and culture were different from each other. Then, this study also aims to provide some basic data for professionals in the field of beauty education and industry. Data were collected through a survey with 208 Australian females and 392 Korean females. Analyses included t-test, frequency analysis, and one-way ANOVA. The results are as follows: The Korean women mostly had black and brown natural hair, and 68.4% of them had color. On the other hand, the Australian surveyees had brown and dark blonde, and 85.4% of them had color. They both were asked why they were using hair products. The Koreans responded that they were for hair moisturization, while the Australians said they were for producing a hair style they wanted. In addition, the Koreans made the most use of a hair conditioner and hair wax, while the Australian women did a hair spray and gloss. As far as the satisfaction with beauty salon service goes, the Australian respondents showed more service satisfaction than the Koreans on average. The homogeneity of the two nations' average points was t-tested. The result indicated that significant differences existed in the hair shop satisfaction with services, such as dyeing, haircut, blow dry, shampooing and massaging, and staff attitudes.

The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between physical properties of dried coacervate films and dry feel for shampoo composition. Simple shampoo compositions were made of two different cationic charge density polymers in the same surfactant compositions. The simple shampoo compositions were diluted with distilled water to make coacervate. Formed coacervate was collected by centrifuge (3,000 rpm, 30 min). Coacervate was coated on the glass plates and dried in drying oven (for 1 h, $50^{\circ}C$) to make the thin film. We carried out an experiment on measurement of contact angle, moisture loss ratio and SEM image analysis of the dried coacervate film. Dry feelings of the shampoos were evaluated by panel using hair tresses. Results show that the properties of dried coacervate films affect the dry feel of the after shampooing.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the rural housewives' recognition and practice on environmental preservation. The subjects of this study were 300 rural housewives living in Chung-buk province. Questionaires were distributed to them during a week from August $25^{th}$ to August $31^{th}$ in 1995. Major findings were as follows: 1. The saved water quite well in washing their faces and the dishes compared with urban housewives, but they did not save water so well in using the lavatory. They used synthetic detergent, one of water pollutants, more often than natural soaps in shampooing and laundering. In addition, they did not use a measuring cup. It resulted in the waste of detergent and aggravation of water pollution. 2. Food waste was disposed of properly, but used batteries were not collected separately. A disposable vinyl bag was more commonly used than a reusable shopping basket. The reason for not using a shopping basket was bothering or uncustomary. Since most of them did not know refillable products of goods with environmental mark, they did not use those. Therefore, housewives should be educated in order to prevent soil pollution. 3. The use of spry-type pesticide and hair treatment, one of air pollutants, was wide-spread among them. They hardly recognized and practiced saving of electric power when they used household electric appliances. 4. The major source of environmental knowledge was mass media like TV of radio. Many of them did not know the practical ways to solve the environmental education program. In conclusion, low level of recognition and practice of rural housewives on environmental preservation indicated that a systematic environmental education program should be developed and implemented.
