The experiments were conducted to establish the in vitro culture system of apple rootstock M.9. The meristem tissue of M.9 were pre-treated in antiox: dant solution containing 100 mgL$^{-1}$ ascorbic acid and 150 mgL$^{-1}$ citric acid for 30 minutes, transferred to the MS liquid medium added with 0.1 mgL$^{-1}$ IBA, 0.5 mgL$^{-1}$ GA, and 30 gL$^{-1}$ sucrose, which shaked by 50 rpm for 2 weeks, and then, cultured in same composition of MS agar medium. This treatment stimulated shooting from the tissue, the most favorably, compared with other treatments. All young shoots produced normal roots when they were shake-cultured on the 1/2MS liquid medium added with 0.5 mgL$^{-1}$ IBA, 30 gL$^{-1}$ sucrose and 1,000 times diluted solution of Hormex by 50 rpm for one week, and subsequently transferred to the 8 gL$^{-1}$ agar medium of the same composition as pre-culture medium minus Hormex.
To find antitumor components of Lyophyllum decastes, the mycelia of L. decastes were cultured in artificial media and a new antitumor component which showed potent antitumor activity against sarcoma 180 implanted in mice, was isolated and named 'Lyophyllan A'. Lyophyllan A was composed of a polysaccharide moiety (86%) and a protein moiety (2%). The polysaccharide moiety was found to be a heteroglycan which consisted of glucose (48.1%), mannose (30.8%), galactose, xylose and fucose. The protein moiety contained 18 amino acids. Cultural characteristics of L. decastes were investigated by shake culture method. The best result was obtained when L. decastes was cultured in medium glucose 50g, peptone 10g, corn steep liquor 30ml, $KH_2PO_4$ 0.87g, $MgSO_4$$7H_2O$ 0.5g, $CaCl_2$ 0.3g, $FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ 10mg, $MnCl_2{\cdot}4H_2O$ 7mg, $ZnSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ 4mg and $CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O$ 1mg per one liter at $26^{circ}C$, 180rpm, for 9 days.

In this paper, we propose the pet robot control system using hand gesture recognition in image sequences acquired from a camera affixed to the pet robot. The proposed system consists of 4 steps; hand detection, feature extraction, gesture recognition and robot control. The hand region is first detected from the input images using the skin color model in HSI color space and connected component analysis. Next, the hand shape and motion features from the image sequences are extracted. Then we consider the hand shape for classification of meaning gestures. Thereafter the hand gesture is recognized by using HMMs (hidden markov models) which have the input as the quantized symbol sequence by the hand motion. Finally the pet robot is controlled by a order corresponding to the recognized hand gesture. We defined four commands of sit down, stand up, lie flat and shake hands for control of pet robot. And we show that user is able to control of pet robot through proposed system in the experiment.
Amplification based on empirical relations is widely used for seismic microzonation of urban centers. Amplifications are used to represent the site effects of a particular soil column. Many empirical correlations are available to estimate the amplification of seismic waves. These correlations are based on the ratio of shear wave velocity of foundation/rock to soil velocity or 30 m equivalent shear wave velocity ($Vs^{30}$) and are developed considering deep soil data. The aim of this work is to examine the applicability of available amplification relations in the literature for shallow engineering bedrock sites by carrying out site response studies. Shear wave velocity of thirteen sites having shallow engineering bedrock have been selected for the study. In these locations, the depth of engineering bedrock (> 760 ${\pm}$ 60 m/s) is matched with the drilled bore hole. Shear wave velocity (SWV) has been measured using Multichannel Analysis of Surface Wave survey. These sites are classified according to the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) classification system. Amplifications for an earthquake are arrived for these sites using empirical relations and measured SWV data. Site response analysis has been carried out in SHAKE using SWV and using synthetic and real earthquake data. Amplification from site response analysis and empirical relations are compared. Study shows that the amplification arrived using empirical relations does not match with the site response amplification. Site response amplification is much more than empirical values for same shear wave velocity.
Metal treated activated carbons are prepared using various metals. Adsorption behaviors, morphologies, as well as antibacterial effects of metal treated samples are compared before and after solvent washing. Adsorption isotherms are used to characterize the porous structure of metal treated activated carbons before and after the solvent washing with acetone or ethyl alcohol. From these data, it is noticed that the changes in physicochemical properties of metal treated activated carbons depend on the solvents employed. Similar results are observed from BET data obtained from nitrogen adsorption isotherms. From scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies, the changes in shape and size of metal particles are observed after the samples are washed with solvents. These changes result in different blocking effects, which, in turn, affect the adsorption behavior of metal treated activated carbons. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the samples treated with different metals are different each other. High intense sharp peaks attributed to metals are observed from silver treated samples, while the peaks are not observed from copper treated samples. To compare thermodynamic behavior of metal treated activated carbons washed with different type of solvents, differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) analysis is carried out. The analysis shows similar endothermic curves for all of the samples. Finally, antibacterial effects of metal treated activated carbon against Escherichia coli are discussed. Comparing the effects among the metals employed, highest effects are obtained from Cd, while lowest effects are obtained from Cu. Antibacterial activity becomes higher with the increase of the amount of metals treated, Optimum concentrations of metals to treat activated carbons, obtained from a shake flask test, are known to be 0.4, 0.1, and 0.6 moles for Ag, Cd, and Cu, respectively.

In this study, several Soil-Structure-Interaction (SSI) analyses were performed using the developed FE-BE coupling method and the seismic response behavior of the structure's systems was determined. For the verification of the fundamental solution which is used in this analysis method, a dynamic analysis of the homogeneous ground was performed and it was compared to the results of Estorff et al. In order to verify the seismic response analysis, the results are compared with those of another commercial code. Several kindd of SSI analyses were performed and the seismic response associated with the rile foundation, seismic waves and a consideration of the ground nonlinearity were determined. As a result, it was found that the pile foundations didn't greatly helpful during the seismic event.

Shaking table tests are carried out on a single-degree-of-freedom mass that is equipped with a hybrid base isolation system. The isolator consists of a set of four specially-designed friction pendulum systems (FPS) and a magnetorheological (MR) damper. The structure and its hybrid isolation system are subjected to various intensities of near- and far-fault earthquakes on a large shake table. The proposed fuzzy controller uses feedback from displacement or acceleration transducers attached to the structure to modulate resistance of the semi-active damper to motion. Results from several types of passive and semi-active control strategies are summarized and compared. The study shows that a combination of FPS isolators and an adjustable MR damper can effectively provide robust control of vibration for a large full-scale structure undergoing a wide variety of seismic loads.

Recently, UAV(unmanned aerial vehicle) has evolved into various figure and become miniaturized. On using existing design method, it is hard to make modelling and standardizing design of flight control system of the figure including cylinder like pipe. These problems are caused by uncorrect express of nonlinearity in controller design. Therefore, it is developed through step of correct modelling and simulation on real time sing high efficiency computer in aircraft development of various figure. This is reducing period and expense of aircraft development. For the shake of solving these problems, in-design method has been devised by H.M. Wang. In this paper, an object of control is cylindrical UAV instead of the general figure of aircraft. It was analyzed flight condition, specification about level flight of the UAV and was presented algorithm to find control value.
A gene(GeneBank AF 135796) coding for a trehalose synthase from Thermus caldophilus GK24 was cloned into Escherichia coli K12 using five vector systems. The constitutive expression system(pHCETS) which shows the highest trehalose synthase activity from flask culture of recombinant E. coli was selected for the production of trehalose from maltose. For the shake flask culture, the final dry cell weight was 0.9 g/L and the trehalose synthase activity was 25 U/mL. Fed-batch culture of recombinant E. coli harboring plasmid pHCETS which uses the glycerolas a carbon source was performed in jar fermentor: the dry cell weight of 20 g/L and the trehalose synthase activity of 13.7 U/mL were attained in 48 h.
Alginate and alginate-derived oligomannuronate enhanced penicillin production in shake flask and fermentor cultures of Penicillium chrysogenum Wis 54-1255 (containing a single copy of the penicillin gene cluster) and in the high producter strain P. chrysogenum AS-P-99 (containing multiple copies of the penicillin gene cluster). Alginate was not used as a single carbon source by P. chryogenum. The stimulatory effect on penicillin production was observed in a defined medium and, to a lower extent, in a complex production medium containing corn steep liquor. Alginate-supplemented cells showed higher transcript levels of the three penicillin biosynthetic genes, pcbAB, pcbC, and penDE, than cells grown in the absence of alginate. The promoters of the pcbAB, pcbC, and penDE genes were coupled to the reporter lacZ gene and introduced as monocopy constructions in P. chrysogenum Wis 54-1225 npe10 by targeted integration in the pyrG locus; the reporter ${\beta}$-galactosidase activity expressed from the three promoters was stimulated by alginate added to the culture medium of the transformants. These results indicate that the stimulation of penicillin production by alginate was derived from an increase in the transcriptional activity of the penicillin biosynthesis genes. The induction by alginate of the transcription of the three penicillin biosynthetic genes is good example of the coordinated induction of secondary metabolism genes by elicitors of plant (or microbial) origin.
