In general, the dredged ground was composed of a big difference of sediment shape through segregating sedimentary of finer soil in case of reclaiming by dredged coarse soils. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the change of settling velocity of flow, and the density of sedimentary which is based on settling tests and self-weight consolidation tests, and consolidation test by seepage force according to the percentage of coarse of Kunsan dredge soils. The Yano's method has been applied to estimate the settlement of self-weight consolidation in finer soils at design but it only considers pouring water content and elevation of interface, therefore the other method needs to be introduced for the exact prediction of the settlement of coarse soil in which the segregation sedimentation is occurring. In this study, the settlement of self-weight consolidation was calculated by the change of the density of segregating sedimentary of coarse and finer soils which was analyzed by Yano's method to extend a serious of researches. The self-weight consolidation by Yano's method will not reflect the segregated settling in dredging coarse soil under 40% of #200 passing percentage. As a result, the evaluation technique of settlement of self-weight consolidation considering a change of the density of segregating sedimentary is suggested as a reasonable method that considers the sediment shape of coarse soil.
The use of water by cities is increasing owing to industrialization, the concentration of population, and the enhancement of the standard of living. Accordingly, the amount of waste water is also increasing, and the degree of pollution of the water system is rising. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to remove organisms and suspended particles as well as the products of eutrophication such as nitrates and phosphates. This study developed a high-end treatment engineering solution with maximum efficiency and lower costs by researching and developing a advanced treatment engineering solution with the use of Biosorption. As a result, the study conducted a test with a $50m^3/day$ Pilot Scale Plant by developing treatment engineering so that only the secondary treatment satisfies the standard of water quality and which provided optimal treatment efficiency along with convenient maintenance and management. The removal of organisms, which has to be pursued first for realizing nitrification during the test period, was made in such a way that there would be no oxidation by microorganisms in the reactor while preparing oxygen as an inhibitor for the growth of microorganism in the course of moving toward the primary settling pond. The study introduced microorganisms in the endogeneous respiration stage to perform adhesion, absorption, and filtering by bringing them into contact with the inflowing water with the use of a sludge returning from the secondary settling pond. Also a test was conducted to determine how effective the microorganisms are as an inner source of carbon. The HRT(Hydraulic Retention Time) in the nitrification tank (aerobic tank) could be reduced to two hours or below, and the stable treatment efficiency of the process using the organisms absorbed in the NAR reactor as a source of carbon could be proven. Also, given that the anaerobic condition of the pre-treatment tank becomes basic in the area of phosphate discharge, it was found that there was excellent efficiency for the removal of phosphate when the pre-treatment tank induced the discharge of phosphate and the polishing reactor induced the uptake of phosphate. The removal efficiency was shown to be about 94.4% for $BOD_5$. 90.7% for $COD_{Cr}$ 84.3% for $COD_{Mn}$, 96.0% for SS, 77.3% for TN, and 96.0% for TP.

This paper presents a high-precision magnetically levitated (maglev) stage to meet demanding motion specifications in the next-generation precision manufacturing and nanotechnology. Characterization of dynamic behaviors of such a motion stage is a crucial task. In this paper, we address the issues related to the stochastic modeling of the stage including transfer function identification, and noise/disturbance analysis and prediction. Provided are test results on precision dynamics, such as fine settling, effect of optical table oscillation, and position ripple. To deal with the dynamic coupling in the platen, we designed and implemented a multivariable linear quadratic regulator, and performed time-optimal control. We demonstrated how the performance of the current maglev stage can be improved with these analyses and experimental results. The maglev stage operates with positioning noise of 5 nm rms in $\chi$ and y, acceleration capabilities in excess of 2g(20 $m/s^2$), and closed-loop crossover frequency of 100 Hz.

Conventional P/PI speed controller of today's servo drives should be manually tuned the controller switching set-point by trial-and-errors, which may translate the drive system down-time and loss of productivity. The adjustable drive performance is heavily dependent on the quality of the expert knowledge and becomes inadequate in applications where the operating conditions change in a wide range, i.e., tracking command, acceleration/deceleration time, and load disturbances. In this paper, the demands on simple controls/setup are discussed for industry servo drives. Analyzing the frequency content of motor torque command, P/PI control mode switching is automatically performed with some prior knowledge of the mechanical dynamics. The dynamic performance of the proposed scheme assures a desired tracking response curve with minimal oscillation and settling time over the whole operating conditions. For comprehensive comparison of traditional P/PI control scheme, extensive test is carried out on actual servo system.
In order to evaluate primary clarifier performance on TSS(Total Suspended solids) removal, four different sampling sets were collected as part of this study; (1) weekly test, (2) the diurnal sampling, (3) the settling velocity distribution sampling. Primary effluent TSS($TSS_{PE}$) and non settleable TSS($TSS_{NON}$) concentrations were averaged 160 and 75.5 mg/L, respectively. These data suggest approximately 85 mg/L TSS can be removed more. Average $TSS_{NON}$, $TSS_{PE}$, and Dispersed TSS(DTSS) concentrations(75.5, 160, and 104 mg/L, respectively) suggest that 28.5 mg/L of TSS difference attributable to poor flocculation, whereas 56 mg/L of TSS difference attributable to poor hydraulics within primary clarifier. In this study, equations for maximum TSS removal efficiency and effluent TSS concentration were suggested and compared with experimented data.

In the case that the average velocity within rectangular-shaped sedimentation basin is less than 1.5cm/sec, and Froude number less than $10^{-6}$, it can not be expected that the longitudinal baffle improves the sedimentation efficiency. Also, since relatively lower velocity increases the effect of geostrophic body force, asymmetric flow pattern on a plane occurs within the basin. From the results of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation, in the case that the highest velocity within rectangular-shaped sedimentation basin is over 1.5cm/sec, and Froude number over $10^{-6}$, it can be expected that the longitudinal baffle installed within rectangular-shaped sedimentation basin improves the sedimentation efficiency.

Recently, due to demands of faster speed and extra features for the chip mounters, there has been ever-demanding needs for the basic technology. Until four or five years ago, chip mounters placing 0.3sec/chip were considered to be in the high speed category, but since then it has become a borderline for categorizing high speed machines capable of placing 0.1sec/chip. In this study, in order to analyze the vibration of head generated by the dynamic behavior of x-frame, FEM model is composed and modal analysis is performed to identify the dynamic characteristics of the structure. Those results are compared with the modal test in order to verify the model. In this paper, Several other factors, such as definition of dynamic accuracy, static accuracy and tolerance of the axis settling range, that might affect the dynamic behavior the head are discussed.

This paper reports the performance and the Algorithm of an 1/3-octave band spectrum control system. The system is developed to provide various required spectrums in a high intensity acoustic chamber. The required spectrums, which usually comes from launch vehicle specification, starts from 25㎐ band and ends 10,000㎐. Short settling time is required to guarantee the safety of test objects and reduce the amount of operating gas. (omitted)
This paper examines the applicability of DAF-system to the domestic sewers for the effective CSOs treatment. The procedures for the experiment include mainly two steps. One is to analyse the water qualities and settling test of the CSOs and the other focuses on general characteristics of the CSOs such as the removal efficiency of pollutant, the distribution of particle size and mass balance of DAF-system. The result of this study show that the application of DAF-system is more effective and economical than the existing treatment systems because it has two removal mechanisms of sedimentation and flotation simultaneously.
The purpose of this paper is to develop the straightforward design guidelines of PD/PID speed controller for Industry servo drives with plug and play concept. The controller gains are uniquely determined from the current control loop dynamics, speed loop delay, and mechanical parameters. In order to eliminate the mechanical friction uncertainties, an automatic PD/PI control mode switching algorithm Is introduced using online spectrum analysis of motor torque command. The dynamic performance of the proposed scheme assures a fast tracking response curve with minimal oscillation and settling time over the whole operating conditions. For comprehensive comparison of conventional PI control scheme, extensive test is carried out on actual servo system.
