  • In this paper, we propose a robust object tracking algorithm based on model and edge, using deformed template and Level-Set theory. The proposed algorithm can track objects in case of background variation, object flexibility and occlusions. First we design a new potential difference energy function(PDEF) composed of two terms including inter-region distance and edge values. This function is utilized to estimate and refine the object shape. The first step is to approximately estimate the shape and location of template object based on the assumption that the object changes its shape according to the affine transform. The second step is a refinement of the object shape to fit into the real object accurately, by using the potential energy map and the modified Level-Set speed function. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can track non-rigid objects under various environments, such as largely flexible objects, objects with large variation in the backgrounds, and occluded objects.

  • This paper is a sequel to [8]. Development of modern logic was initiated by Boole and Morgan. Boolean logic is one of their completed works. Cantor created the set theory along with cardinal and ordinal numbers. His theory on infinite sets brought about a remarkable development on modern mathematical theory, but generated many paradoxes (e.g. Russell Paradox) that in turn motivated mathematicians to solve them. Further, mathematicians attempted to construct sound foundations for Mathematics. As a result three important schools of thought were formed in relation to fundamentals of mathematics for the resolution of paradoxes of set theory, namely logicism developed by Russell and Whitehead, intuitionism lead by Brouwer and formalism contended by Hilbert and Bernays. In this paper, we examine the logic for intuitionism which is originated by Brouwer in 1908 and study Heyting algebra.

  • The Rough Set theory suggested by Pawlak in 1982 has been useful in AI, machine learning, knowledge acquisition, knowledge discovery from databases, expert system, inductive reasoning. etc. The main advantages of rough set are that it does not need any preliminary or additional information about data and reduce the superfluous informations. but it is a significant disadvantage in the real application that the inference result form is not the real control value but the divided disjoint interval attribute. In order to overcome this difficulty, we will propose approach in which Rough set theory and Neuro-fuzzy fusion are combined to obtain the optimal rule base from lots of input/output datum. These results are applied to the rule construction for infering the temperatures of refrigerator's specified points.

  • Feature selection is one of the most challenging problems of pattern recognition and data mining. In this paper, a feature selection algorithm based on an improved version of binary differential evolution is proposed. The method simultaneously optimizes two feature selection criteria, namely, set approximation accuracy of rough set theory and relational algebra based derived score, in order to select the most relevant feature subset from an entire feature set. Superiority of the proposed method over other state-of-the-art methods is confirmed by experimental results, which is conducted over seven publicly available benchmark datasets of different characteristics such as a low number of objects with a high number of features, and a high number of objects with a low number of features.

  • Rough Set theory suggested by Pawlak has a property that it can describe the degree of relation between condition and decision attributes of data which don't have linguistic information. In this paper, by using this ability of rough set theory, we define a occupancy degree which is a measure can represent a degree of relational quantity between condition and decision attributes of data table. We also propose a method that can find an optimal fuzzy rule table and membership functions of input and output variables from data without linguistic information and examine the validity of the method by modeling data generated by fuzzy rule.

  • This paper investigates a classification method of the electrocardiogram (ECG) into different disease categories. The features for the classification of the ECG are the coefficients of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) of ECG signals. The coefficients are calculated with Haar wavelet, and after DWT we can get 64 coefficients. Each coefficient has morphological information and they may be good features when conventional time-domain features are not available. Since all of them are not meaningful, it is needed to reduce the size of meaningful coefficients set. The distributions of each coefficient can be the rules to classify ECG signal. The optimally reduced feature set is obtained by fuzzy c-means algorithm and rough set theory. First, the each coefficient is clustered by fuzzy c-means algorithm and the clustered ...

  • This paper concerns a relationship between rough sets, intuitionistic fuzzy sets and ring theory. We consider a ring as a universal set and we assume that the knowledge about objects is restricted by an intuitionistic fuzzy ideal. We apply the notion of intutionistic fuzzy ideal of a ring for definitions of the lower and upper approximations in a ring. Some properties of the lower and upper approximations are investigated.

  • Generalized intuitionistic fuzzy soft set theory, proposed by Park et al. [Journal of Korean Institute of Intelligent Systems 21(3) (2011) 389-394], has been regarded as an effective mathematical tool to deal with uncertainties. In this paper, we prove that certain De Margan's law hold in generalized intuitionistic fuzzy soft set theory with respect to union and intersection operations on generalized intuitionistic fuzzy soft sets. We discuss the basic properties of operations on generalized intuitionistic fuzzy soft sets such as necessity and possibility. Moreover, we illustrate their interconnections between each other.

  • The thesis is about the development of mathematics starting from the old Greece and the old Babylonia. The modem mathematics has been developed, based on the set theory in the axiomatic method since the 19th century. The primary impetus of this thesis will be to summary the development of topology.
