  • In spite of the development of the service industry, research on measuring customers' service satisfaction is far insufficient. Therefore, ways to measure the service quality accurately need to be established due to the ambiguous types of service business. This research classifies the types of service business into service factory, service shop, mass service, professional service by using Schmenner's Service Process Matrix and conducts research on domestic literature that measured service satisfaction with Servqual and ServPerf. This study intends to suggest guidelines to measure customer satisfaction according to types of service business by researching ways to measure service satisfaction according to the types of service business and analysing the actual application methods based on a table that summarizes previous research on Servqual and Servperf.

  • In spite of the development of the service industry, research on measuring customers' service satisfaction is far insufficient. Therefore, ways to measure the service qualify accurately need to be established due to the ambiguous types of service business. This research classifies the types of service business into service factory, service shop, mass service, professional service by using Schmenner's Service Process Matrix and conducts research on domestic literature that measured service satisfaction with Servqual and ServPerf.   • In this paper, we study an optimal service policy of the M/M/2/K queueing system with two types of customers. The incurred costs consist of waiting cost, service cost and incurred costs consist of waiting cost, service cut and changeover cost. The changeover cost occurs when a server who assigned to serve a particular type of customers reassigned to the other types of customers. Two servers serve two types of customers who arrive to the two separate queues. The two types of customers differ in respect of their arrival rate, service rate, waiting cost, and service cost. The servers require a policy, for determining when they should change their service type, which minimizes the long run expected total cost. The policy is obtained by a Markov decision process model that consists of a finite number of states and actions. In order to find the optimal service policy, we define states and actions of the system, compute onestep transition probabilities, and apply to the successive approximations algorithm.

Antecedents and Consequences of the Types of Waiting Times in Medical Services (의료서비스에서 유형별 대기시간의 선행 및 결과변수)

  • This research has classified waiting times into the three different ones according to service offering process and investigated the antecedents and consequences of types of waiting times. A service provider's concern and customer involvement were modeled as antecedent variables and negative emotion and service value as dependent variables. The empirical results of the study are as follows. A service provider's concern had significant influences on all the three types of waiting times whereas customer involvement was found to affect preprocess-waiting and postprocess-waiting times. Preprocess-waiting time had a significant impact on both negative emotion and service value and inprocess-waiting time only affects negative emotion. However, postprocess-waiting time had influenced none of the variables. The findings illustrate an important role of concern and involvement regarding to a customer's perceived waiting time and relative importance of waiting types on negative emotion and service value. A summary of the results are reported and managerial implications are discussed.

  • Most previous electronic commerce studies have focused on a single product or similar products. The effects of different product types have been relatively neglected. and so previous studies have limited the generalization. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of different product types. The Internet product and service classification grid proposed by Peterson et al.(1997). A survey-based approach was employed to investigate the research questions. Regression analysis demonstrated that the determinants of online shopping acceptance differ among product or service types. As a result of analysis, personal innovativeness of information technology, perceived Web security, personal privacy concerns, and product involvement can influence consumer acceptance of online shopping, but their influence varies according to product or service types.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the impacts of e-service quality factors on customer satisfaction and behavior intention by Web site types. Difference and moderating effect resulting from the type of web site users about an association with reaction of satisfaction and those component concepts are also one of the aims in the study. As a result, the study found that factors of web site service quality variables had positive impacts on customer satisfaction. And customer satisfaction also had a positive impact on relationship intention and word of mouth intention. Furthermore, through the comparative analysis, we found that the service quality differed on the effects of customer satisfaction by web site types. According to those results, marketing managers should develop different service strategies based on different web site types.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the differences in the effect of service recovery efforts on consumers satisfaction, word of mouth intentions, and revisit intentions when exposed to service failure situations. The service failure situation was classified into outcome-related and process-related failures. The service recovery effort was divided into financial and emotional efforts. Using a scenario technique, this study collected data from diners in Daegu and Gyoungbuk province. The results of the empirical analysis show that the effect of service recovery efforts varies depending on types of service failures and recovery efforts. Also, the interaction between service failure types and service recovery efforts was confirmed.

  • In recent years, speedy development of Taiwan's hotel industry intensifies market competition, customers' demands on hotel services quality also increase with the increase of their consumption consciousness, and their demands on hotel types diversify, therefore hotel industry should concern on their unique management services quality brought by their different hotel types. The current designed service system or service transmission process may fail to meet customers' demands owing to emphasizing degree gap in service quality. What is worse, it is difficult for hotel industry to actualize complete customer segregation and to provide customized services, therefore comprehensive understanding of customers' demands on the service quality of different types hotels would contribute to operating management improvement of Taiwan hotel industry. This paper divides Taiwan hotels into three types: international tourism commercial type, holiday type and motel, the general hotels. It studies the emphasize degree gap in service quality between the industry and the customers. Data analysis shows that service quality gap (perceived gap) of hotels of different types exists in several quality aspects; what's more, the perceived gaps, service quality aspects, and its items of different types of hotel are also different. After an integrated analysis, this paper puts forward a general and customer-oriented quality item suitable for hotel industry to shorten the perceived gap of service quality, so that the hotel industry could design a service system and service transfer system, which could meet most lodging customers' demands in the context of pluralized customer sources.

  • The purpose of this paper was to reveal Service Operation Strategy for the Internet shopping mall based on the types of internet users' market segmentation focus on the internet shopping behavior and e-service quality. In this paper, we examined internet shopping behavior and internet service quality factor depend on the types of internet users' group empirically. The empirical study result identifies the main decision factor depend on the types of internet users' group. On the basis of these result, Service Operation Strategy for the internet shopping mall has been suggested.

  • Competitiveness of service industry in Korea is relatively lower than OECD countries'. Korean government, therefore, has been trying to improve the competitiveness of service industry by accelerating information technology (IT) adoption. Even though most of factors of IT can be contributed to improve the financial performance, it may be affected differently among various industry types and life cycles of companies. Therefore, it is one of very important research issues to analyze the influential effect of IT considering industry types and organizational life cycles in service industries. The purpose of this study is to find out critical success factors of IT which influence financial performance considering different types and life cycles of service industries. We developed the model and identified key success factors of IT adoption as IT system quality, Information quality, IT maintenance, CEO support, IT education of organization, and IT competence of user. Additional analysis of moderating effect by organizational life-cycle and types of service industry are conducted. For data sampling 856 companies are participated and total 2,000 questionnaires are collected. Structural equation modeling method is conducted for statistical analysis. The results show that the model is valid and most of success factors of it are very useful for improving financial performance of service industries except organizational IT education. Moderating effect of industry types and organizational life cycles is valid but partially accepted. The results might be able to provide useful directions and guide lines of IT acceleration in service industries.
