  • This paper proposes an application of artificial neural networks to the bus-bar separation in a substation for radial network operation. For the effective bus-bar operation, the insecurity index of transmission line load is introduced. For the radial network operation. the constraints of bus-bar switch is formulated in the performance function with the insecurity index. The determination of bus-bar switching is to find the states of 0 or 1 in the circuit breakers. In this paper, it is tested that the bus-bar separation of binary optimization problem can be solved by Hopfield networks with adequate manipulations.

식품 거대분자의 열역학적 비혼합성 (Thermodynamic Incompatibility of Food Macromolecules)

  • Proteins and polysaccharides are major food macromolecules. Generally, the mixture of these macromolecules can be separated into two phases because of their thermodynamic incompatibility. Phase separ-ation is explained by equilibrium phase diagram, which comprises binodal curve, critical point, phase separation threshold, tie-line and rectilinear diameter. Phase separation of protein-polysacc-haride solution is affected by pH, temperature, ionic strength, molecular weight, molecular structure, etc. Membraneless osmosis has been developed to concentrate protein solutions, using the phase diagram constituted by proteins and polysaccharides. Protein-polysaccharide mixtures are very promising fat mimetics because solution of mixtures forms water-continuous system with two phase-separated gels, which give plastic texture and a fatty mouthfeel.

  • 1. INTRODUCTION : Since the knowledge of vitrification phenomena can lead to a better understanding of the mechanism of membrane formation, it is desirable to include vitrification line into the phase diagrams. While the final morphology obtained during phase inversion depends upon the kinetics as well as the thermodynamics of the phase separation, the equilibrium phase diagram and vitrification line for amorphous polymers are still a good tool for controlling the morphology and interpreting the membrane structure.

콤바인 선별실(選別室)의 기류선별(氣流選別)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Pneumatic Separation on Separating Unit of a Combine Harvester)

  • This study was attempted to investigate the pneumatic separation on separating unit of a combine harvester. The aerodynamic characteristics of threshed materials were analyzed by experiments. The air velocity distribution within the separation chamber was measured for various speeds of the winnower and suction fans to find out the operational and design conditions of the separating unit which would serve for reducing the grain loss from chaff outlet. The results of study arc summarized as follows: 1. Based on the separation curve of threshed materials analyzed, it was shown that three different kind. of materials-kernels, straw chaff, and leaf chaff were as a whole able to be separated pneumatically, regardless of varieties. However, a small amount of the separation grain loss may be expected to occur if the complete separation between kernels and straw chaff would be undertaken because some portion of their separation curve were overlapping. 2. The analysis of air velocity distribution showed that the separation chamber may be divided into two regions, the discharging and separating. The air velocity of the discharging region was 5-15 m/s and that of the separating region 2-5 m/s. 3. The air movement of the separation chamber may be a turbulence flow, being its speed became greater as it moves from the left to the right section of the separation chamber. The equi-speed line. of air flow had a steep gradient in between the discharging and the separation regions. The air velocity in the discharging region was much higher than the terminal velocity of kernels, because of which those kernels appearing in the region could be possibly exhausted as the grain loss from the chaff outlet. 4. The motion trajectory of threshed material in the separating region was dominantly affected by the winnower fan, on the other hand, its motion in the discharging region was affected by suction fan. 5. The grain loss from the chaff outlet was affected greatly by the winnower fan and the trace of kernel movement. It was observed that the optimum working speed to give minimum grain loss from chaff outlet for the combine tested should be maintained at 950~1,150 rpm for the winnower fan and 1,850 rpm for the suction fan. 6. It was shown that a large portion of grain loss from chaff outlet may occur when the kernels may bump against a portion of separation chamber wall and those kernels thus scattered into the discharging region were sucked by the suction fan. It was accordingly recommended that a new design of the wall of separation chamber so as to bump down kernels may be necessary to reduce grain loss from the chaff outlet.

전기철도 전원계통에서의 화재사고 사례 분석 (Analysis of Fire Accident on Power Line for DC Electric Traction Vehicles)

  • This paper describes a cause of fire accidents on power system fire DC electric traction vehicles. We investigated fire scene of power line for DC electric traction vehicles. From analysis results, the cause of fire on power line turned out line to ground fault between a feeder of electric power services(pantagraph) and DC electric traction vehicle roof. Fire accident of DC electric traction vehicles be assumed that electric sparks had been produced between the pantagraph and the power line conductor by repetitively making contact and separation, maybe if some material like branches get in between connecting rod it makes progress line to ground fault. ZnO arresters are widely used to protect DC electric traction vehicles against overvoltages caused by lightning or switching surges. However, the arresters are deteriorated by commercial overvoltages and/or lightning one. The deteriorated arresters could lead power failures, such as line to ground fault by a thermal runaway resulting from the increases in leakage current even in a nominal power system voltage. Finally, the power failures would be causative of the fire accident.

  • The KSR-III Main Propulsion System configuration of the liquid oxygen (LOX) feed line is analyzed. This feed line includes a tighter radius and cavitation venturi for flow mass flow-rate passive control. There were concerns that these configurations might generate a great flow distortion at the engine interface. Also both the pressure drop at the feed line and any presence of separation area are a great concern according to the propellant flow. To resolve these issues, a computational fluid dynamic analysis was conducted to determine the flow field in the LOX feed lines.

  • Liquid crystal-polymer composite(LCPC) films promising new materials for both projection displays and vision product. LCPC films consist of a continous liquid crystal phase embedded in a three- dimensional network of polymer matrix. The liquid crystal in these LC phases can be elecrtrically switched giving rise to an opaque scattering off-stats and a transparent, non-scatting on- stats. In this work. a premixture is composed of LC, UV-curable monomer and photonitiator. LCPC films are formed by photopolymerization induced phase separation from this premixture. In conclusion, structure and electro-optical properties of LCPC films strongly depends on the selection of monomer, LC content and curing rate.

  • The on-line SPE-HPLC coupling system was developed for the efficient separation and determination of trace pesticides, such as phenoxyacetic acids and esters, and triazines in aqueous solutions. By using the developed SPE-HPLC on-line system, the band broadening usually observed in single precolumn switching mode was greatly reduced, consequently, the quantitative determination of trace pesticides could be achieved, Besides, since most of the analytes preconcentrated by SPE column could be injected directly into HPLC system, the limit of detection can be improved down to ppt level.

Analysis of Poly(Ethylene-co-Vinyl Acetate) Using Off-line Pyrolysis

  • Poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) (EVA) was pyrolyzed to eliminate acetic acid of VA unit using off-line pyrolysis, and the deacetylated EVA was analyzed infrared spectroscopy (IR) and pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). EVA film for deacetylation was prepared by solution casting on aluminum foil and it was pyrolyzed at low temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ in the off-line pyrolysis apparatus. After deacetylation, carbon-carbon double bond (C=C) was formed by 1,2-elimination of the VA unit in the EVA backbone. Most of C=C bonds were trans-1,4-unit and 1,2-unit was also observed. Presence of the 1,2-unit in deacetylated EVA indicates that terminal or branch VA units exist in the raw EVA. Py-GC/MS chromatogram of deacetylated EVA displayed much smaller acetic acid and much more abundant other pyrolysis products than that of raw EVA, which means that the pyrolysis efficiency and separation condition were improved.
