A Study on the Improvement of Image Classification Performance in the Defense Field through Cost-Sensitive Learning of Imbalanced Data (불균형데이터의 비용민감학습을 통한 국방분야 이미지 분류 성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • With the development of deep learning technology, researchers and technicians keep attempting to apply deep learning in various industrial and academic fields, including the defense. Most of these attempts assume that the data are balanced. In reality, since lots of the data are imbalanced, the classifier is not properly built and the model's performance can be low. Therefore, this study proposes cost-sensitive learning as a solution to the imbalance data problem of image classification in the defense field. In the proposed model, cost-sensitive learning is a method of giving a high weight on the cost function of a minority class. The results of cost-sensitive based model shows the test F1-score is higher when cost-sensitive learning is applied than general learning's through 160 experiments using submarine/non-submarine dataset and warship/non-warship dataset. Furthermore, statistical tests are conducted and the results are shown significantly.

Clinical Usefulness of MR FLAIR Image in Mild Head Injuries (경증 두부외상 환자에서 MR FLAIR 영상의 임상적 유용성)

  • Objectives : MR fluid-attenuated inversion recovery(FLAIR) image uses paired long inversion time and relaxation time that nulls the signal from CSF. With nulling of the CSF long echo time readout could be used to increase T2-weighting, hence improving the conspicuousness of most tissue lesions without the deleterious effects of CSF artifact seen on T2 weighted sequence. We examed the usefulness of FALIR image in the diagnosis of mild head injury. Methods : A total of 38 patients with mild head injury were examined by FLAIR image. We compared those images with CT scan and T1, T2-weighted images. Careful observation of MR images were done by two well-trained neuroradiologists. Each image was compared for conspicuousness and detectability of traumatic lesions might have shown abnormal signal intensities. The Wilcoxon signed ranks test was used for statistical evaluation. Results : The FLAIR image was significantly more sensitive than those of other images(p<0.001). T2 FFE(Fast Field Echo) image was more useful for detection of small petechial hemorrhages. Conclusion : FLAIR image is considered to be more sensitive than those of conventional MR images in the evaluation of mild head injuries.

  • A new touch-sensitive hydrogenated amorphous silicon(a-Si:H) display with embedded optical sensor arrays is presented. The touch-sensitive panel operation was successfully demonstrated on a prototype of 16-in. active-matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD). The proposed system provides the finger touched point without the real-time image processing of information of the captured images. Due to the simple architecture of the system, we expect the introduction of large-area touch-sensitive display panels.

The Effects of County-of-Origin, BrandImage, and Corporate Image Dimensions on Brand Evaluations and Purchase Intentions of Smart Phones of Five Brands: A Comparative Study of China and Korea

  • Purpose - In the academic literature, the researches on a comparative study on purchase behaviors of the consumers from emerging and mature markets remain limited. Therefore, this empirical study is attempted to examine the effects of country of origin (COO), brand image and corporate image on the purchase behavior of Chinese consumers (as from emerging market) and Korean consumers (as from mature market). Research Design, data, methodology - In total, 615 valid questionnaires were collected from the main cities of China and Korea respectively, and a multiple group analysis was conducted to test the hypotheses with SPSS 16.0 and AMOS18.0. Results - Chinese consumers are not influenced by country-of-origin effect, whereas Korean consumers are sensitive to it. Both Chinese and Korean consumers are sensitive to brand image, whereas corporate image does appear to influence Chinese consumers but not Korean consumers. The effects of country-of-origin are not more influential in less developed market (China) than more developed market (Korea). Conclusions - According to the results of this empirical study, the country-of-origin effect does impact Korean consumers but not Chinese consumers' purchase behavior. Therefore, multinational companies are relatively free to make the decision, if Chinese consumers are the marketing targets, when choosing manufacturing sites.

  • This study is on the sensitive image of pattern expressed in the color & formative types of traditional Jokakbo(scraps of cloth). The object of this research is Korean traditional scraps of cloth in the latter period of Chosun Dynasty. This study is to be classified into 10 formative types like square type 1, square type 2, diagonal type, diamond type, many color striped type, concentric circle type, pinwheel type, vertical line type, cintamani pattern type, and free style type to apply the design of Jokakbo to Korean design. And color group is divided into vivid tone and pale tone. And it constitutes 17 patterns from the combination of these two types. As for the factors of constitution of scraps of cloth, it consists of factors like revelation, attraction, temperature sense, abstract, and rigidity. In the emotional image in the patterns, both vivid tone and pale tone showed dynamic and warm emotion together. Also, the factors of revelation and attraction were evaluated as opposite images, and it evaluated the plain and dim emotion as more attractive emotion. They preferred the pale tone to the vivid tone. They preferred the cintamani pattern in the vivid tone, and the diamond pattern in the pale tone most. From the research result above, this study made the abstract image of scraps of cloth standardized and prepared for a basis to execute it essentially. This research will be used as basic data to make traditional Korean image spotlighted in the world fashion markets as well as it will be helpful to the development of pattern design for the scraps of cloth essentially.

  • Experiment is carried out to investigate the mixed convective flow in three-dimensional horizontal rectangular channels filled with high viscous fluid. The particle image velocimetry(PIV) with thermo-sensitive liquid crystal tracers is used for visualizing and analysis. Quantitative data of temperature and velocity are obtained by applying the color-image processing to a visualized image, and neural network is applied to the color-to-temperature calibration. In this study, the fluid used is silicon oil(Pr=909), the aspect ratio(channel width to heigh) is 4 and Reynolds number is $2{\times}10^{-2}$. From the present study, we can visualize the quantitative temperature and velocity of mixed convective flow in three-dimensional horizontal rectangular channels simultaneously.

  • n a enclosed square cavity occurred B nard convection, the flow phenomena in the surrounding of the bubble attached at the upper cooled solid wall were studied by using a thermo-sensitive liquid-crystal tracer and image processing techniques. This method offers the advantage of measuring the entire flow field in a selected plane within the fluid at a given instant of time in contrast to point by point method like T/C. Quantitative data of the temperature were obtained by applying a colour-image-processing to the visualized image. As the flowing in a bubble, In a bubble size appears the flow phenomena which the direction of flow is reversed in the entire temperature and flow field. The observed phenomena are described with regard to the thermocapillary convection.

A Study on the Chest Radiography with Diseases in Consideration of Image Qualify and Patient Exposure (흉부질환의 화질과 피폭을 고려한 촬영조건의 연구)

  • To evaluated the image quality and the patient exposure for the chest radiography, its fundamental imaging properties were investigated. The basic imaging properties were evaluated by measuring characteristic curves, relative speeds, average gradient, and patient exposure dose. The image qualities were evaluated by using a rotating meter. It was found that the film gradient of SRO750/SRH system was 3.13 and that of SRO750/HR-C30 was 1.77. The ratio of SRO1000/TMH to FS/RP-1 was 1 to 18.2. It was possible to visualize the static image when the exposure time was less than 2.5 msec in patient that had respiratory excessive motion, heart beat and natural physical motion, and less than 8.5 msec in normal. The ratio of medical exposure dose compared with our method was 1 to 25 in the routine chest radiography and maximum was 1 to 70. In estimation of the image quality in same cases, we found that the image of SRO1000/SRH and TMH of super sensitive systems was the same results. We found that these super sensitive screen-film systems were available for the chest radiography considering the relationship between the image quality and patient exposure.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the sensitivity of the audience to the background of the building where Chinese historical film 'Hero' is used. In this study, the sensitive vocabulary suitable for the building background was derived through previous research related to sensitivity, and the sensitive analysis was analyzed by questionnaire form. Research result shows that the building background of the movie can have an sensitive impact on the audience and will help to understand Chinese traditional style and culture.

Comparative Study on Avatar's Clothing Image and Casual Brand Image based on Avatar's Fashion Marketing (아바타 패션마케팅에 따른 아바타 의복 이미지와 캐주얼 브랜드 이미지 비교 연구)

  • Objectives of this study were to investigate about the avatar's fashion products efficiency on casual wear advertisements to study about the effect of avatar's clothing image provided by apparel industry and to investigate about the effort of avatar's fashion product on apparel advertisement for fundamental data on the avatar's fashion marketing. Following were the summaries of the results: First, in terms of the correlation between avatar's clothing and casual brand images of nate avatar's fashion marketing, avatar's clothing image of FUBU male, female and maru male, female that is reformative, characteristical, unique and sensitive to latest fashion has positive correlation with FUBU and maru brand images. Therefore, consumers' higher perception on avatar's clothing image that are 'reformative', 'characteristical' and 'unique', indicated higher casual brand image perception, proving avatar's clothing image is effective in suggesting the brand. Second, in terms of advertising the avatar by clothing them with garments of each brand and comparing avatar's clothing and casual brand images, active avatar's clothing image of FUBU male, female emphasized active brand image of FUBU. However, FUBU male avatar's clothing image did not emphasize 'reformative', 'characteristical', 'cool', or 'sensitive to latest fashion' images compared to FUBU female avatar's clothing image. Also, in case of maru, 'male', 'conseuative' and 'insensitive to latest fashion' image of male avatar clothing emphasized maru brand image. Maru female's 'unpractical' ,'female' and 'characteristical' images emphasized maru brand image.
