  • Interest in three-dimensional (3D) printing processes has grown significantly, and several types have been developed. These 3D printing processes are classified as Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Stereo-Lithography Apparatus (SLA), and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). SLS can be applied to many materials, but because it uses a laser-based material removal process, it is expensive. SLA enables fast and precise manufacturing, but available materials are limited. FDM printing's benefits are its reasonable price and easy accessibility. However, metal printing using FDM can involve technical problems, such as suitable component supply or the thermal expansion of the heating part. Thus, FDM printing primarily uses materials with low melting points, such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) or polylactic acid (PLA) resin. In this study, an FDM process for enabling metal printing is suggested. Particularly, the nozzle and heatsink for this process are focused for stable printing. To design the nozzle and heatsink, multi-physical phenomena, including thermal expansion and heat transfer, had to be considered. Therefore, COMSOL Multiphysics, an FEM analysis program, was used to analyze the maximum temperature, thermal expansion, and principal stress. Finally, its performance was confirmed through an experiment.

유기고분자로 표면 개질 된 입상활성탄을 이용한 프러시안 블루 고정화 및 Cs+ 제거 (Covalent organic polymer grafted on granular activated carbon surface to immobilize Prussian blue for Cs+ removal)

  • Prussian blue is known as a superior material for selective adsorption of radioactive cesium ions; however, the separation of Prussian blue from aqueous suspension, due to particle size of around several tens of nanometers, is a hurdle that must be overcome. Therefore, this study aims to develop granule type adsorbent material containing Prussian blue in order to selectively adsorb and remove radioactive cesium in water. The surface of granular activated carbon was grafted using a covalent organic polymer (COP-19) in order to enhance Prussian blue immobilization. To maximize the degree of immobilization and minimize subsequent detachment of Prussian blue, several immobilization pathways were evaluated. As a result, the highest cesium adsorption performance was achieved when Prussian blue was synthesized in-situ without solid-liquid separation step during synthesis. The sample obtained under optimal conditions was further analyzed by scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectrometry, and it was confirmed that Prussian blue, which is about 9.7% of the total weight, was fixed on the surface of the activated carbon; this level of fixing represented a two-fold improvement compared to before COP-19 modification. In addition, an elution test was carried out to evaluate the stability of Prussian blue. Leaching of Prussian blue and cesium decreased by 1/2 and 1/3, respectively, compared to those levels before modification, showing increased stability due to COP-19 grafting. The Prussian blue based adsorbent material developed in this study is expected to be useful as a decontamination material to mitigate the release of radioactive materials.

  • 본 논문에서는 형태학적 영상 분할을 위한 재구성 필터의 새로운 VLSI 구조를 제안한다. $h_{max}$ 연산에 기반한 재구성 필터는 영역의 경계정보는 보존하면서 영역 내부만을 평탄화하는 단순화 필터이다. 제안한 구조에서는 분할 메모리 구조와 효과적 영상 스캔 방법을 도입하여 연산량과 시간을 줄였다. 분할 메모리 구조는 연산에 필요한 데이터의 동시 접근을 가능하게 하여 병렬 데이터 처리를 가능하게 하며, 확장된 화소 연결관계를 통해 스캔에 의한 단순화 정도를 높인다. 제안한 선택적 순방향 스캔은 간단한 연산부의 도입을 통해 hmax 연산이 영상의 밝기값에 의존적인 단점을 극복하여 잡음제거와 동시에 적은 연산량으로 단순화를 수행할 수 있게 한다. 제안한 구조는 VHDL을 이용하여 기술하였으며, CAD 툴인 Mentor를 이용한 실험 결과 기존의 방법에 비해 18%정도의 연산만으로도 효과적 영상 단순화를 수행함을 확인하였다.

Performance of an acidic extractant (D2EHPA) incorporated in IM used for extraction and separation of Methylene Blue and Rhodamin B

  • Laboratory-scale experiments were carried out to investigate the adsorption equilibrium, the adsorption kinetics and facilitated transport of two cationic dyes (Methylene Blue (MB) and Rhodamine B (RB)) on Polymer Inclusion Membrane (D2EHPA-PIM). Different adsorption isotherms (Freundlich, Langmuir and Temkin models) as well as kinetics models indicated that the adsorption process is spontaneous and exothermic. Under the optimal conditions, the adsorption removal efficiencies reach about 93% and 97% for MB and RB respectively. Different extraction values by D2EHPA-PIM were obtained for the two cationic dyes: MB is weakly extracted at pH 2.0 (E% = 18.7%) whilst E% = 82.4% was observed for RB at the same pH. This difference was exploited in a mixture containg both the 2 cationic dyes for the selective extraction of RB at pH 2. Desorption of both dyes was achieved from the membrane by using acidic aqueous solutions and desorption ratio up to 90% was obtained. The formulas of the extracted complexes by the PIMs were, determined by the method of slopes. The dyes transport was elucidated using mass transfer analysis where in it found relatively high values of the initial flux ($J_0$) as 41.57 and $18.74{\mu}mol.m^2.s^{-1}$ for MB and RB respectively.

  • 1977年부터 1978年 10月 사이 Arcachon灣 水域에서 採集된 資料를 分析하여 年齡을 決定하고 成長을 推定하였다. 耳石 斷面의 構造는 전자 현미경 하에서 觀察 하였고, 解剖 현미경 하에서 觀察된 結果와 비교하였다. 年輪은 冬季 뿐 아니라 夏季에도 목이 相對的으로 좁은 "年輪"이 形成됨이 觀察되었으며, 後者는 夏季에 發生하는 赤潮現象과 關聯되어 진 것으로 思料된다. 成長은 例外的으로 큰 個體를 除外시켰을 때, Von Bertalanffy식을 適用할 수 있었다. 産卵回遊에 의한 한 年齡群 中 큰 個體의 除법은 水에 남은 魚群의 成長律을 減少시키고, 이러한 選擇적인 큰 個體의 回遊가 Von Bertalanffy의 假定을 滿足시키는데 一部 기여하는 것 같다. 例 外的으로 큰 個體의 연 별 體長分布를 "正常的"인 個體들 및 回遊魚群과 比較分析 하여, 이들은 어릴때부터 成長이 빠른 個體들 중 一部로 構成되어 있음을 제시하였 다.一部로 構成되어 있음을 제시하였 다.

A Chemically-driven Top-down Approach for the Formation of High Quality GaN Nanostructure with a Sharp Tip

  • We have developed a chemically-driven top-down approach using vapor phase HCl to form various GaN nanostructures and successfully demonstrated dislocation-free and strain-relaxed GaN nanostructures without etching damage formed by a selective dissociation method. Our approach overcomes many limitations encountered in previous approaches. There is no need to make a pattern, complicated process, and expensive equipment, but it produces a high-quality nanostructure over a large area at low cost. As far as we know, this is the first time that various types of high-quality GaN nanostructures, such as dot, cone, and rod, could be formed by a chemical method without the use of a mask or pattern, especially on the Ga-polar GaN. It is well known that the Ga-polar GaN is difficult to etch by the common chemical wet etching method because of the chemical stability of GaN. Our chemically driven GaN nanostructures show excellent structure and optical properties. The formed nanostructure had various facets depending on the etching conditions and showed a high crystal quality due to the removal of defects, such as dislocations. These structure properties derived excellent optical performance of the GaN nanostructure. The GaN nanostructure had increased internal and external quantum efficiency due to increased light extraction, reduced strain, and improved crystal quality. The chemically driven GaN nanostructure shows promise in applications such as efficient light-emitting diodes, field emitters, and sensors.

폐문부 종괴로 관찰된 기관지 동맥류 1예 (A Case of Bronchial Artery Aneurysm Demonstrating Hilar Mass)

  • A bronchial artery aneurysm is a rare condition, which needs optimal treatment due to the possibility of a life-threatening hemorrhage by rupture. The surgical removal of the aneurysm is the standard treatment. However, there are a few reports of coil embolization with a transcatheter. A 69 year-old man was referred for a further evaluation of a mass in the right hilum on chest radiography. He denied any respiratory symptoms. A chest CT scan showed a $3{\times}3{\times}4.5cm$ sized vascular mass with strong contrast enhancement on the right hilar area that originated from the bronchial artery. On the angiogram, the bronchial artery originated from the descending thoracic aorta at the T8 level. A bronchial artery aneurysm was catheterized selectively. and embolized successfully with a coil. After coil embolization, the selective bronchial arteriography confirmed complete occlusion. We report this case of bronchial aneurysm that was treated successfully with coil embolization.

Aspergillus niger CF-34로부터 분리한 대두세포벽분해효소 복합체 중의 Protease의 선택적인 제거 (Selective Removal of Protease from Soybean Cell Wall Degrading Enzyme Complex Isolated from Aspergillus niger CF-34)

  • Aspergillus niger CF-34가 생산하는 대두세포벽분해 효소 복합액을 알칼리로 처리하여 조효소액 중에 함유된 protease만을 선택적으로 제거할 수 있었다. 조효소액을 알칼리로 처리하였을 때 세포벽분해활성에는 영향을 적게 주고, 대두 단백질을 분해시켜 쓴 맛의 peptide를 생성하는 protease만을 선택적으로 불활성화시킬 수 있었다. 조효소액의 pH를 $9.0{\pm}0.1$로 조절하여 $20^{\circ}C$에서 약 30분 동안 서서히 교반한 후 다시 pH를 5.0로 조절하는 것이 최적 조건이었다. 이때 조효소액 중 protease 활성은 초기의 약 10% 미만으로 감소하였으며, 각 효소의 잔존 활성을 살펴보면 pectinase는 약 80%, polygalacturonase는 약 85%, xylanase는 약 95%, carboxymethyl cellulase는 약 100% 정도이었고, 대두세포벽분해활성은 초기의 약 90% 정도 유지할 수 있어 protease만이 선택적으로 제거되었다. 이렇게 처리된 효소액을 사용하여 비지 중의 대두 단백질을 추출할 경우 생산효율은 비록 감소하였지만, 대두단백질의 분해를 막고, 쓴맛 생성을 억제하여 품질 및 관능적으로 우수한 제품을 생산할 수 있었다.

항암 화학요법중인 급성 골수성 백혈병 환자의 구강내 세균변화에 관한 연구 (Changes in the Oral Microflora in Patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia during the Period of Induction Therapy)

  • To investigate the changes in aerobic and facultative anaerobic oral microflora during remission-induction chemotherapy in patients with acute myeloid leukemia, 10 consecutive patients were studied during a period of 28 days. One day before, during and after the induction therapy, patients were given 10% Betadine solution for mouthrinses after breakfast and kept from eating and drinking. After 3 hours, paraffin-stimulated whole saliva was obtained for 2 minutes and transported to the laboratory. The samples were dispersed and homogenized by use of vortex mixer for 20 seconds. From these samples 10-fold serial dilutions (from 10-1 through 10-3) were prepared. Each dilution of 0.1 ml was plated on duplicate set of one nonselective medium (Blood agar) and four selective media (Sabourauds dextrose agar, Mannitol salt agar, Mac-Conkey agar, SF medium ) using applicator woods. All agar plate were incubated at 37$^{\circ}C$ for 48 hours. The total number of microorganisms was calculated and the percentage distribution of the various microorganisms from each specimen was drawn. 1. The salivary flow rate decreased by 66%, going from 5.38 ml/2min to 1.81 ml/2min over two days during the chemotherapy. 2. The total number of microorganisms in saliva increased by 22%, going from 4.88$\times$105/ml to 6.00$\times$105/ml over two days during the chemotherapy. 3. The salivary flow rate and the total number of microorganisms in saliva were recovered within 28 days after the chemotherapy. 4. The quantitative alteration in oral Enterobacteria, Enterococci, Staphylococci, Cndida during the chemotherapy had no statistical significance. 5. In saliva of the patients with acute myeloid leukemia who ahd intraoral ulcer, Enterobacteria was quantitatively predominent. Our study suggests that chemotherapy-induced transient xerostomia may induce acute oral infection. Consequently, the use of saliva substitute, the removal of intraoral infection source and the consistent oral hygiene care seem to be required to avoid the transmission of potential pathogenes in this group of patients.

Nd : YAG, HO : YAG, Er : YAG 레이저 조사에 의한 상아질의 물리적 변형 및 절제(切除)역치에 관한 연구 (PHYSICAL MODIFICATION AND ABLATION THRESHOLDS OF DENTIN INDUCED BY ND : YAG, HO : YAG, AND ER : YAG LASERS)

  • Laser application to modify healthy permanent dentin to improve microhardness and caries resistence has been previously reported but the physical modification and ablation thresholds of carious and sclerotic dentin has yet to be identified. This study determined the energy density required by modify (physical modification threshold, PMT) and remove (ablation threshold, AT) infected carious, affected and selerotic dentin compared to healthy permanent dentin. $1{\pm}0.25mm$ thick dentin sections(n=272) from extracted human teeth were used. Smear layer was removed 0.5M EDTA for 2 minutes. Utilizing three pulsed fiberopitc delivered contact lasers with different emission wavelengths($1.06{\mu}m$=Nd : YAG, $2.10{\mu}m$=Ho : YAG and $2.94{\mu}mEr$ : YAG). The energy density($J/cm^2$) was incrementally increased and the resulting tissue interaction classified on a scale from 0-6. A minimum of 5 repetitions/energy density were completed. Light microscopy(10-25X) was used to verify the physical modification(scale=3) and ablation thresholds(scale=4) of the various forms of dentin and the data were analyzed by logistic regression at the 95 % confidence interval. PMT and AT by the laser and the dentin types were: PMT and AT was lower in infected dentin than in sound dentin for all lasers. PMT and AT induced by Nd : YAG>Ho : YAG>Er : YAG for all forms of dentin. Microhardness was increased in sound dentin at PMT. Morphology of crater examined by light microscopy showed Nd : YAG was safe and effective for removing carious dentin and Er: YAG was effective for removing sound dentin. The PMT and AT for YAG lasers are different as a function of dentin type which may be utilized for selective modification and removal of dentin.
