Attribute-Based Classification Method for Automatic Construction of Answer Set (정답문서집합 자동 구축을 위한 속성 기반 분류 방법)

  • The main thrust of our talk will be based on our experience in developing and applying an attribute-based classification technique in the context of an operational answer set driven retrieval system. To alleviate the difficulty and reduce the cost of manually constructing and maintaining answer sets, i.e., knowledge base, we have devised a new method of automating the answer document selection process by using the notion of attribute-based classification, which is in and of itself novel. We attempt to explain through experiments how helpful the proposed method is for the knowledge base construction process.

  • This study is to determine an optimal yacht mooring location candidate among many alternative candidates in order to obtain the maximized efficiency under the natural conditions using integer programming. To deal with marina's construction location, the optimal construction location is selected using 21 important factors analysis for 4 candidates in the Mokpo city. The development period and the initial investment cost weight are one and half times more than the others among 21 factors. The optimal spiral analysis of weighted linear model shows that the Peace Square sea area is selected as the most optimal place among 4 candidates. This proposed model has not been applied in the optimal marina's facility candidate selection problem yet. This paper will contribute to determine the most reasonable alternative. Also, this proposal model can be applied to other marina's facility candidate selection problem in other regions.

Selection of measurement sets in static structural identification of bridges using observability trees

  • This paper proposes an innovative method for selection of measurement sets in static parameter identification of concrete or steel bridges. This method is proved as a systematic tool to address the first steps of Structural System Identification procedures by observability techniques: the selection of adequate measurement sets. The observability trees show graphically how the unknown estimates are successively calculated throughout the recursive process of the observability analysis. The observability trees can be proved as an intuitive and powerful tool for measurement selection in beam bridges that can also be applied in complex structures, such as cable-stayed bridges. Nevertheless, in these structures, the strong link among structural parameters advises to assume a set of simplifications to increase the tree intuitiveness. In addition, a set of guidelines are provided to facilitate the representation of the observability trees in this kind of structures. These guidelines are applied in bridges of growing complexity to explain how the characteristics of the geometry of the structure (e.g. deck inclination, type of pylon-deck connection, or the existence of stay cables) affect the observability trees. The importance of the observability trees is justified by a statistical analysis of measurement sets randomly selected. This study shows that, in the analyzed structure, the probability of selecting an adequate measurement set with a minimum number of measurements at random is practically negligible. Furthermore, even bigger measurement sets might not provide adequate SSI of the unknown parameters. Finally, to show the potential of the observability trees, a large-scale concrete cable-stayed bridge is also analyzed. The comparison with the number of measurements required in the literature shows again the advantages of using the proposed method.

  • As the importance of maintenance of reinforced concrete structure recently has emerged, the attention of durability of structure has been increasing. There are many studies about durability decline especially due to the carbonation. In order to study carbonation progress after surface repair of carbonated concrete, each carbonation penetration velocity from different repair materials of concrete structure is compared through the experiment of carbonation accelerating CO2 concentration to 20% and 100%. As carbonation infiltration progress is predicted through this study, the counterplan of service life evaluation will be prepared on selection of repair materials of concrete structure.

  • This paper proposes a new construction method of neural networks. The construction method consists of two fundmental ideas, which are a parallel selection-style evaluation and rules evolution. A new collision avoidance algorithm using genetic and neural network is proposed to avoid moving obstacles such as mobile robots. The input parameters of this algorithm is position of moving obstacles and target. Output is a regenerated direction of mobile robot. This algorithm is very simple and so, it is available to application of real time process. The pattern of collision avoidance is learned through test execution.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of energy level, node degree and selection information based CDS(Connected Dominating Set) construction algorithm for more efficient routing in ad-hoc wireless networks. Constructing CDS in ad-hoc wireless network, it is necessary to make more efficient algorithm that is faster, more simple and has low power consumption. A CDS must be minimized because nodes in the CDS consume more energy in order to handle various bypass traffics than nodes outside the set. It is better not to reconstruct CDS after constructing the most efficient CDS. To overcome this problem, we proposed the CDS construction algorithms based on EL+ND+Sel method. We compared and estimated the performance in each situation of EL + ND and EL + ND + Sel.

Minimization of Porosity in Ceramic Coating on a Hydraulic Cylinder (유압실린더 세라믹코팅 기공률 최소화 방안)

  • The best way to prevent the corrosion of piston rod is a selection of quality of the material and method of construction which minimize the porosity. The high velocity oxy fuel(HVOF) method, which generates lower porosity than existing plasma spray, was applied to ceramic laminated bond layer. Porosity percentage fell to bellow 2%, lower than that of plasma spray at 7%. Coating material of ceramic-coated main layer was selected as the $Cr_2O_3$ affiliation material, which is more dense than $Al_2O_3$ affiliation. To fill up the pores formed after the coating process, we sealed the bond layer and main layer. Sealing process was performed twice, once after the coating and once after the grinding. Upon the anti-corrosion test on the sealed sample and on the non-sealed sample, it is confirmed that the sealed sample was not corroded for 1,000 hours while the non-sealed sample was corroded within 48 hours.

  • Image processing has been utilized for assessment of infrastructure surface coating conditions for years. However, there is no robust method to overcome the non-uniform illumination problem to date. Therefore, this paper aims to deal with non-uniform illumination problems for bridge coating assessment and to achieve automated rust intensity recognition. This paper starts with selection of the best color configuration for non-uniformly illuminated rust image segmentation. The adaptive-network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is adopted as the framework to develop the new model, the box-and-ellipse-based neuro-fuzzy approach (BENFA). Finally, the performance of BENFA is compared to the Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) method, which is often used in image recognition, to show the advantage and robustness of BENFA.
