  • This problem of product selection and princing are considered in congested and uncongested markets. In a congested market, such as a computer service market, product quality (the level of congestion) is partly a function of the amount of usage, which in turn depands on user choice. In an uncongested market, product qualities are set solely by providers. A model of quality and capacity variation is developed using a state equation description to represent user optimizing behavior. The model is used to study the problem of scarce resources among competing user demands through quality-dependent pricing.

  • New approach to determine thd design of automotive tire profile was introduced. In this study, design technology for tire profile was combined with a finite element method to improve high speed durability. Static and dynamic behavior analysis of new concept tire was compared with conventional tire profile. To obtain the improved tire performance, appropriate design values, ie. design methodology, section profile selection, material properties, are needed.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the differences of clothing behavior by the level of self-monitoring under given social situations. The result of this study is drown from the analysis of the survey, gathered from the 522 female students of universities reside in Seoul, by using the method of convenience sampling. The statistical methods used to test the data were MANOVA and chi-square test. The results of this study can be summarized s follows; first, as a result of analyzing the differences of situational self-image pursuits among situations depending individual's self-monitoring levels, it was found that the pursuits changes among situations regardless of the self-monitoring levels. Thus, this hypothesis could not be verified. Second, as a result of analyzing the changes of priority of clothing selection factors among situations depending on individual's self-monitoring levels, it was found that the priority factors changed among situations regardless of the self-monitoring levels.

Furthermore, they have usually bought something following on their inclination what they had purchased as well as the store decoration character and the marketing promotion attribute. The other consumers who prefer to the discount store's merchandises, had also high propensity and the biggest influence on buying something which were those factors; their instance shopping habit, utility-economy trait, follow the fashion character and strong circumspection tendency besides using the mass media Info., personal data and commodities' attribute.

  • Most modeling about dynamic behavior of Antiferroelectric Liquid Crystal (AFLC) is limited to the hysteric characteristics of AFLC cells or thresholdless switching of frustrated AFLC cells. In this paper, domain growth of AFLC cells is modeled with extended bilayer model. When driving pulses that consist of a selection voltage, a bias voltage, and a reset voltage are applied to the AFLC cell, its dynamic behavior is simulated.

  • Process behavior in metal cutting results from the chip formation process which is not easily observable and measurable during machining. By means of the finite element method chip formation in orthogonal metal cutting is modeled. The reciprocal interaction between mechanical and thermal loads is taken into consideration by involving the thermo-viscoplastic flow behavior of workpiece material. Local and temporal distributions of stress and temperature in the cutting zone are calculated depending on the cutting parameters. The calculated cutting forces and temperatures are compared with the experimental results obtarned from orthogonal cutting of steel AISl 4140. The model can be applied in process design for selection of appropriate tool-workpiece combination and optimum cutting conditions in term of mechanical and thermal loads.

  • This study aimed to investigate buying behaviors of cosmetics for female university students in Korea, China, and Japan as related to their lifestyles. For data analysis, a survey was conducted to total 12,000 females university students in 4-year university in Seoul, Tokyo, and Beijing from March 11 to April 14 in 2002. A total of 1,165 were collected and 1,127 were finally used in the analysis (361 in Korea, 381 in China, and 385 in Japan). Data were analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, frequency analysis, Cronbach's a, t-test and Duncan's Multiple Range test by using SPSS statistics package. The lifestyle segmentations identified 5 groups for Korea, 5 groups for China and 2 groups for Japan. Segments in each country showed significant differences in selected variables, the satisfaction with cosmetics and in places to purchase cosmetics.

  • The $\{10\bar{1}2\}$ twinning characteristics, such as active twin variants, volume fraction of twins with strain, twin morphology, twin texture and angle relationship between twins, were dependent on the activation mode (i.e., tension parallel to the caxis or compression perpendicular to the c-axis). The selection criterion of active twin variants was governed by the Schmid law. This activation of selected twin variants depending on the activation mode consequently caused a totally different plastic deformation behavior in two activation modes. The differences in the deformation characteristics, such as flow stress and work hardening rate, between both activation modes were explained in relation with activation stresses for slips and twinning, relative activities of twinning and slips during plastic deformation, grain refining effect by twin boundaries (Hall-Petch effect), and twinning-induced change in activities of slips.
