  • According to advance on vehicle technology, many kinds of ECU(Electronic Control Unit) are equipped inside the vehicle. In-vehicle communication among ECUs is performed through CAN(Controller Area Networks). CAN have high reliability. However, it has many vulnerabilities because there is not any security mechanism for CAN. Recently, many papers proposed attacks of in-vehicle communication by using these vulnerabilities. In this paper, we propose an wireless attack model using a mobile radio communication network. We propose a secure authentication mechanism for in-vehicle network communication that assure confidentiality and integrity of data packets and also protect in-vehicle communication from the replay attack.

  • Smart Grid is the next-generation intelligent power grid that maximizes energy efficiency with the convergence of IT technologies and the existing power grid. It enables consumers to check power rates in real time for active power consumption. It also enables suppliers to measure their expected power generation load, which stabilizes the operation of the power system. However, there are high possibility that various kinds of security threats such as data exposure, data theft, and privacy invasion may occur in interactive communication with intelligent devices. Therefore, to establish a secure environment for responding to such security threat with the smart grid, the key management technique, which is the core of the development of a security mechanism, is required. Using a hash chain, this paper suggests a group key management mechanism that is efficiently applicable to the smart grid environment with its hierarchical structure, and analyzes the security and efficiency of the suggested group key management mechanism.

  • Providing security has been always on priority in all areas of computing and communication, and for the systems that are low on computing power, implementing appropriate and efficient security mechanism has been a continuous challenge for the researchers. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system is such an environment, which requires the design and implementation of efficient security mechanism. Earlier, the security protocols for RFID based on hash functions and symmetric key cryptography have been proposed. But, due to high strength and requirement of less key size in elliptic curve cryptography, the focus of researchers has been on designing efficient security protocol for RFID based on elliptic curves. In this paper, an efficient elliptic curve signcryption based security protocol for RFID has been proposed, which provides mutual authentication, confidentiality, non-repudiation, integrity, availability, forward security, anonymity, and scalability. Moreover, the proposed protocol successfully provides resistance from replay attack, impersonation attack, location tracking attack, de-synchronization attack, denial of service attack, man-in-the-middle attack, cloning attack, and key-compromise attack. Results have revealed that the proposed protocol is efficient than the other related protocols as it takes less computational time and storage cost, especially for the tag, making it ideal to be used for RFID systems.

  • Virtualization technology has been widely applied in the area of computer security research that provides a new method for system protection. It has been a hotspot in system security research at present. Virtualization technology brings new risk as well as progress to computer operating system (OS). A multi-level perception security model using virtualization is proposed to deal with the problems of over-simplification of risk models, unreliable assumption of secure virtual machine monitor (VMM) and insufficient integration with virtualization technology in security design. Adopting the enhanced isolation mechanism of address space, the security perception units can be protected from risk environment. Based on parallel perceiving by the secure domain possessing with the same privilege level as VMM, a mechanism is established to ensure the security of VMM. In addition, a special pathway is set up to strengthen the ability of information interaction in the light of making reverse use of the method of covert channel. The evaluation results show that the proposed model is able to obtain the valuable risk information of system while ensuring the integrity of security perception units, and it can effectively identify the abnormal state of target system without significantly increasing the extra overhead.

  • With the development of networking technology, it has become common to use various types of network services to replace physical ones. Among all such services, electronic voting is one example that tends to be popularized in many countries. However, due to certain concerns regarding information security, traditional paper voting mechanisms are still widely adopted in large-scale elections. This study utilizes blockchain technology to design a novel electronic voting mechanism. Relying on the transparency, decentralization, and verifiability of the blockchain, it becomes possible to remove the reliance on trusted third parties and also to enhance the level of trust of voters in the mechanism. Besides, the mechanism of blind signature with its complexity as difficult as solving an elliptic curve discrete logarithmic problem is adopted to strengthen the features related to the security of electronic voting. Last but not least, the mechanism of self-certification is incorporated to substitute the centralized certificate authority. Therefore, the voters can generate the public/private keys by themselves to mitigate the possible risks of impersonation by the certificate authority (i.e., a trusted third party). The BAN logic analysis and the investigation for several key security features are conducted to verify that such a design is sufficiently secure. Since it is expected to raise the level of trust of voters in electronic voting, extra costs for re-verifying the results due to distrust will therefore be reduced.

  • The IETF has created the v6ops Working Group to assist IPv6 transition and propose technical solutions to achieve it. But it's quite problem which security consideration for a stage of IPv4/IPv6 transition and co-existence. There are new security problem threat that it caused by the characteristics of heterogeneity. In this paper, we describe IPv6 transition mechanisms and analyze security problem for IPv6 transition mechanism. also we propose security consideration and new security mechanism. We analyzed DoS and DRDoS in 6to4 environment and presented a address sanity check as a solution. We also showed an attack of address exhaustion in address allocation server. To solve this problem, we proposed challenge-response mechanism in DSTM.

  • Recently with the high expectation of voice over WLAN service, to supped fast inter-AP security transition in WLAN AP is one of the most actively investigating issues. It is also very important to minimize inter-AP security transition latency, while maintaining constantly the secure association from old AP when a station transits to new AP. Hence, this paper first defines secure transition latency as a primary performance metric of AP system in WLAN supporting IEEE802.11i, 802.1x, and 802.11f, and then presents low latency inter-AP security transition mechanism and its security FSM whose objective is to minimize inter-AP transition latency. Experiment shows that the proposed scheme outperforms the legacy 802.1X AP up to $79\%$ with regard to the transition latency.

  • 6LoWPAN based on IEEE 802.15.4 is a realistic standard platform for various Internet of Things (IoT) applications. To bootstrap the LoWPAN (Low-power Wireless Personal Area Network), each device must perform 6LoWPAN-ND address registration to assign a unique IPv6 address. Without adequate security mechanisms, 6LoWPAN-ND is vulnerable to a variety of security attacks including corrupted node attacks. Several security mechanisms have been proposed as a supplement to the vulnerability, but the vulnerability exists because it relies solely on IEEE 802.15.4 hop-by-hop security. In this paper, we propose and analyze a vulnerability of 6LoWPAN-ND address registration and a new security mechanism suitable for preventing the attack of damaged node. It also shows that the proposed security mechanism is compatible with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard and is more efficient than the mechanism proposed in the IETF 6 lo WG.

  • The number of wireless public network user is increasing rapidly. Security problem for user authentication has been increased on existing wireless network such as IEEE802.11 based Wireless LAN. As a solution, IEEE802.1x (EAP-MD5, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS), X.509, protocol or security system was suggested as a new disposal plan on this problem. In this study, we overview main problem on existing EAP-MD5 authentication mechanism on Wireless LAN and propose a SMS(Short Message Service) based secure authentication and accounting mechanism for providing security enhanced wireless network transactions.
