  • Behind the popularity of VoIP in these days, it may present significant security challenges in privacy and accounting. Authentication and message encryption are considered to be essential mechanisms in VoIP to be comparable to PSTN. SIP is responsible for setting up a secure call in VoIP. SIP employs TLS, DTLS or IPSec combined with TCP, UDP or SCTP as a security protocol in VoIP. These security mechanisms may introduce additional overheads into the SIP performance. However, this overhead has not been understood in detail by the community. In this paper we present the effect of the security protocol on the performance of SIP by comparing the call setup delays among security protocols. We implement a simulation of the various combinations of three security protocols and three transport layer protocols suggested for SIP. UDP with any combination of security protocols performs a lot better than the combination of TCP. TLS over SCTP may impose higher impact on the performance in average because TLS might have to open secure channels as the same number of streams in SCTP. The reasons for differences in the SIP performances are given.

  • The routing optimization mode, which Mobile IPv6 provides for the direct communication between a mobile node and its correspond node, introduces various security threats, thus causing several protocols to be proposed for the secure binding update procedure. In particular, the Kang-Park protocol, which Kang and Park presented in 2005, achieves the optimized cryptographic operations and the strong security, while based on its unique security proxy structure. In spite of such advantages, it has some drawbacks in terms of security and efficiency. This paper improves the Kang-Park protocol through the strong CoA validation and early binding update methods. Also, we show that the improved protocol is better than others.

  • Full-mesh IPSec tunnels pass through a black ("unsecure") network (B-NET) to any red ("secure") networks (RNETs). These are needed in military environments, because they enable dynamically changing R-NETs to be reached from a BNET. A dynamically reconfiguring security policy database (SPD) is very difficult to manage, since the R-NETs are mobile. This paper proposes advertisement process technologies in association with the tunnel gateway's protocol that sends 'hello' and 'prefix advertisement (ADV)' packets periodically to a multicast IP address to solve mobility and security issues. We focus on the tunnel gateway's security policy (SP) adaptation protocol that enables R-NETs to adapt to mobile environments and allows them to renew services rapidly soon after their redeployment. The prefix ADV process enables tunnel gateways to gather information associated with the dynamic changes of prefixes and the tunnel gateway's status (that is, 'down'/restart). Finally, we observe two different types of performance results. First, we explore the effects of different levels of R-NET movements on SP adaptation latency. Next, we derive the other SP adaptation latency. This can suffer from dynamic deployments of tunnel gateways, during which the protocol data traffic associated with the prefix ADV protocol data unit is expected to be severe, especially when a certain tunnel gateway restarts.

  • This paper demonstrates that an attacker can impersonate a random RFID tag and then perform the spoofing attack in the previous RFID authentication protocol. To resolve such a security problem, we also propose a new secure and efficient RFID mutual authentication protocol. The proposed RFID mutual authentication protocol is not only to resolve many security problems with the existing RFID authentication mechanism and the vulnerability against spoofing attack, but also to guarantee reliable authentication time as reducing computational overhead performing by tag. As a result, the proposed RFID mutual authentication protocol provides stronger security including the forward secrecy and more efficiency.

  • XKMS(XML Key Management Specification), one of XML Security specification, defines the protocol for distributing and registering public keys for verifying digital signatures and enciphering XML documents of web service applications with various and complicate functions. In this paper, we propose XML Key Information protocol service model and implements reference model of protocol component based on standard specification. Also describes the analysis and security method of Key Information Service(XKIS) for Secure XML Web Service, paying attention to the features of XML based security service. This protocol component supported includes public key location by given identifier information, the binding of such keys to edentifier information. This reference model offers the security construction guideline for future domestric e-Business Frameworks.

  • In this paper, we introduce a secure and minimal protocol for authenticated key distribution over the CDMA mobile communication network. The CDMA mobile communication network has been developed the security protocol that provides a means for user authentication and subsequent protection of user traffic. However, this model has no security assumptions for the intermediate, fixed networks. To avoiding these drawbacks, we introduce a minimal authenticated key distribution protocol. This protocol provides the security of the intermediate and fixed network in mobile environment, and maintains the confidentiality of user identification and the minimum size of information flow compared with the existing protocols.

  • In 2005, Yong and Lee proposed a buyer-seller fingerprinting protocol using symmetric and commutative encryptions. They claimed that their protocol was practical and anonymous since they used symmetric and commutative encryptions. However, an attacker can get the content embedded with one or more honest buyers' fingerprints using man-in-the-middle attack. In this letter, we point out the weakness and propose methods for improving to their protocol.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient authentication protocol based on certificateless signature scheme, which does not need any infrastructure to deal with certification of public keys, among the vehicles in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks. Moreover, the proposed protocol introduces the concept of interval signature key for efficiently solving the problem of certificate revocation.

  • RFID security protocol is widely discussed as an important issue, while the mutual authentication with the security agreement is mostly discussed enthusiastically. In this paper we improve HB family to achieve the property of mutual authentication, so that the user privacy can be protected. The future direction is to adapt the protocol for cloud computing.
