Annual reproductive cycle of seabass, Lateolabrax japonicus, was histologically investigated based on samples captured on the coast of the Tongyoung, South Korea. The gonadosomatic index (GSI) of females began to increase in October and reached its maximum in February. The GSI of males reached its maximum in December. The change of GSI and gonadal tissue showed that the annual reproductive cycle was classified into the following successive four stages: (1) the degenerative and resting stage from March to August, (2) the growth stage from September to November, (3) the mature stage from November to December, and (4) the ripe and spawning stage from December to March.
Effects of temperature (10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 2$0^{\circ}C$) and salinity (22.0, 24.5, 27.0, 29.5, 32.0 and 34.5 ppt) were studied on incubation period, hatching success, survival and growth of alevin and juvenile seabass, L. japonicus. Embryonic development was accelerated with increasing temperature but it was not influenced by salinity. Hatching success was the highest at 14$^{\circ}C$ and 34.5 ppt. Higher temperature also accelerated the development of mouth opening, absorption of yolk and oil globules, and alevin growth. Survival of the 5-day old Juvenile was accelerated in the following order : 14<16<18<20<12$^{\circ}C$. Rearing experiment of the juvenile for 30-day indicated the faster growth at 13, 20 and 27 ppt than at 34 ppt.

Properties as related to the utilization of the crude proteases extracted from the muscle and viscera of fish (2 dark fleshed lish; anchovy, Engraulis japonica, and gizzard-shad, Clupanoda punctatus; 2 white fleshed fish; seabass, Lateolabrax japonicus, and sole, Pleuronichthys cornutus) were studied. Proteolytic activity of the muscle protease was slightly inhibited with the increase of sodium chloride concentration and it was apparent against the yellowtail myofibrillar protein than casein substrate. Proteolytic activities of the seabass and sole visceral crude protease were inhibited to 50 to $60\%\;by\;25\%$ of sodium chloride, but those of anchovy and gizzard-shad viscera crude enzymes were not influenced by sodium chloride. The vacuum freeze-dried crude protease and glycerol-mixed crude pretense of gizzard-shad and seabass muscles were almost lost their activities on the 16th week of storage, while those from the viscera of the fish were relatively stable. Degradation of the yellowtail myofibrillar protein by the anchovy muscle and viscera crude pretenses rapidly proceeded in the beginning of the reaction and the degraded products were mainly distributed in the range of 6 to 15 kDa electrophoretically.

To understand the activity of non-specific defence factors in cultured Sebastes, the antibacterial effect of the serum, skin mucus and homogenate of various organs from cultured oblong rockfish (Sebastes oblongus) and rockfish(Sebastes schlegeli) against pathogenic bacteria, Aeromonas hydrophila, Edwardsiella tarda, Vibrio anguillarum, and Streptococcus sp. was compared with that of flounder(Paralichthys olivaceus) and seabass(Leteolabrax japonicus). And the activities of proteolytic enzyme, chitinolytic enzyme and haemolycin as non-specific defence factor were investigated on the oblong rockfish and rockfish. Samples from oblong rockfish showed the highest antibacterial activity by lysoplate assay on agar plate mixed with pathogens, followed in descending order by rockfish, seabass, and flounder. Turbidimetric assay was carried to evaluate the lysozyme activity of fish samples against lyophilized cells of Micrococcus lysodeiktikus. The serum, kidney, liver, stomach, intestine and eyeball of oblong rockfish and the mucus and gill of rockfish appeared to have the highest lysozyme activity among the fish strains investigated. All samples except skin mucus, liver, and eyeball of oblong rockfish and rockfish showed proteolytic enzyme activity. Chitinolytic enzyme activity was showed in random sampling and haemolytic activity was remarkable in oblong rockfish. Therefore, Sebastes strain was proved to have effective defense mechanisms based on the antibacterial activities, and lysozyme, proteolytic enzyme, chitinolytic enzyme, and haemolycin were considered to act as the non-specific defence factor of Sebastes.

To investigate effect of on sexual maturation in spotted seabass, Lateolabrax maculatus the sexual maturation, photoperiods were established to natural photoperiod, 9L:15D, 11L:13D, 13L:11D and 15L:9D. After rearing for 90 days from August 11 to November 10, gonadosomatic index (GSI) and hormones were analyzed. In the female, GSI was $1.07{\pm}0.09%$ in the natural photoperiod, $1.93{\pm}0.06%$ in 9L:15D, while the GSI of male was $0.75{\pm}0.05%$ in the natural photoperiod, $1.89{\pm}0.12%$ in 9L:15D and $0.22{\pm}0.05%$ in 15L:9D and the lowest in 15L:9D, respectively. The blood estradiol (E2) of female was $226.0{\pm}13.6pg/ml$ in the natural photoperiod, and the highest value of $296.3{\pm}15.0pg/ml$ in 9L:15D. The male $17{\alpha}20{\beta}OHP$ was similar to the female with $196.3{\pm}17.0pg/ml$ in the natural photo period and $133.0{\pm}15.5pg/ml$ in 9L:15D. The testosterone (T) of male was $259.3{\pm}33.1pg/ml$ in the natural photoperiod, but the hightest value of $370.5{\pm}27.5pg/ml$ in 9L:15D. These results provide basic information from sexual maturation of spotted seabass.
Korea's marine products trade is taking for phase that income exceeds export after 2000. According to external environment change of Korea and Japan fishery agreement and an import liberalization of marine products, import of live fish and fresh fish is increasing rapidly. This study investigates import view of Japan live fish and fresh fish. Live fish which is imported from Japan has red seabream and seabass, but it is in declining tendency because of the increase in import of cheaper croaker from the China. If see importer's trend, entry to import business of fresh fish is eased a little. If a circulation trend is seen, However, it is thought that a future import trend is influenced by economic trends of Japan and the grade of place-of-production development of a domestic trader. Circulation market outside is common and the district wholesale store has played the important role. The import view of Japanese live fish and a fresh fish will increase against the background of maintenance of domestic circulation organization, and upgrading of marine product consumption However, it is thought that a future import trend is influenced by economic trends of Japan and the grade of place-of-production development of a domestic trader.
Beside that the fish species and their sub-populations are highly important as a keystone species in the coastal and marine ecosystem, there are very few studies on their presence, distribution and temporal variations within and around the lagoon ecosystems in Albania. This paper provides an updated review on the life cycle, fishery, exploitation state and management of the main species that are subject of commercial fishing in the Karavasta lagoon, southeastern Adriatic coast of Albania. Due to the fact that lagoons represent a continuum between continental and marine aquatic ecosystems they play a crucial role in species life cycles. Further on in the circumstances of rapid utilizations and environmental changes, anomalies in salinity and temperatures, accelerated anthropogenic influences their rate of vulnerability is highly increased. Following the requirements of the Water Framework Directive, transitional water, coastal lagoons and estuaries there is a need for urgent monitoring and management approaches. The commercial species include: European eel (Anguilla anguilla), species of Family Mugilidae (Mugil cephalus, Liza ramada, Liza salienes and Chelon labrosus), Seabream (Sparus aurata), Seabass (Dincentrarchus labrax), etc. Fish productivity is oscillating from maximum value of 61.95 kg/ha is recorded in period of 1975-80 and lower value of 31 kg/ha in year 2020. Our study highlights importance of fish and fishery long-term monitoring, and contributes to understand the driving factors in productivity, migration patterns and species ecology in the vital coastal ecosystems.

The feeding sounds of three fishes, Lateolabrax japonicus, stephanolepis cirrhifer and Fugu vermicularis were recorded in the tank, and the frequency and the sound pressure level were analyzed. The recorded sounds were emitted again into the tank and the response of fishes were observed. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1) The frequency and the sound pressure level of the feeding sound of Lateolabrax japonicus, Stephanolepis cirrhifer, and Fugu vermicularis are 80~350 Hz and 250~500 Hz, and 101~103 dB, 106~115 dB and 102~112dB. 2) It was most effective to increase the sound pressure level as much as dB that make the fishes respond positive reaction to the feeding sound. 3) Lateolabrax japonicus and stephanolepis cirrhifer showed positive response and Fugu vermicularis showed little to the emitted feeding sound. 4) The fishes showed positive response to the sound until 5 minutes and then showed negative response, as the sound emitting succeed 10 minutes.

Optical properties of sea water were studied in the southern sea of Korea, based on ten oceanographic stations in July, 1980. Submarine daylight intensity was measured at intervals of 5m depth in the upper 70m layer by using the underwater irradiameter (Kahlsico # 268 WA 360). The mean absorption coefficients of the sea water were shown as 0.102 (0.066~0.137), 0.119 (0.069~0.154), 0.091 (0.054~.0123), and 0.095 (0.056~0.129) for clear, red, green, and blue color respectively. The transparency ranged from 13 to 25 meters (mean 17.1 m). The mean water color in this area was 3.9 (3-5) in Forel scales. The relation between absorption coefficient (k) and transparency (D) was k=1.17/D, k=2.01/D, k=1.52/D, and k=1.60/D for clear, red, green, and blue color respectively. The rates of light penetration for clear, red, green, and blue color in four different depths were computed with reference to the surface light intensity respectively. The mean rates of light penetration in proportion to depths were as follows; clear : 57.3%(5m), 20.82%(15m), 5.16%(30m), 0.94%(50m). red : 52.2%(5m), 15.99%(15m), 2.99%(30m), 0.39%(50m). green : 60.9%(5m), 24.51%(15m), 7.11%(30m), 1.56%(50m). blue : 59.4%(5m), 22.92%(15m), 6.09%(30m), 1.29%(50m).
Proteolytic enzymes responsible for post-mortem degradation of the fish tissues have been studied in regard with screening the proteases distributed in the fish body by reacting with the specific synthesized substrates. Activities of cathepsin L, B, H, G, and D like enzymes were detected in the muscle crude protease from the both kind of fish, dark fleshed fish (anchovy, Engraulis japonica, and gizzard-shad, Clupanodo punctatus) and white fleshed fish (seabass, Lateolabrax japonicus, and sole, Pleuronichthys cornutus), however, those of chymotrypsin, trypsin, pepsin, and peptidase like enzymes were observed 3n the viscera crude pretense from the fish. Proteolytic activities of the muscle crude protease at pH 6.0 were similar to those of the viscera crude protease at pH 8.0, but, those of the viscera crude protease at pH 8.0 were about 2 times higher than those at pH 6.0. The muscle and viscera crude protease from anchovy showed the strongest proteolytic activity among the four fish crude proteases and the proteolytic activity of the viscera crude protease was approximately 100 times higher than that of the muscle crude protease, which suggest that viscera proteases were more contributed on the development of post-mortem changes than muscle proteases. With the degradation patterns on SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis against yellowtail myofibrillar proteins, the muscle and viscera crude protease of the four fishes were primary responsible for the degradation of myosin heavy chain, and myosin light chain and actin, respectively.
