해양심층수 기능성소금 제조를 위한 분무건조기 특성의 수치해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Spray Dryer Characteristic for Manufacture of Deep Sea Water Salt)

  • Deep sea water has cold temperature, abundant nutrients and minerals, and good water quality that is pathogen-free and stable. Compared with surface water, deep sea water contains more nutrition salt, such as nitrogen and phosphor. Moreover, if has the good balance of minerals. Because of the ability of the spray drying process to produce a free-flowing power considering of spherical particles with a well-defined size distribution and the rapid drying times for heat-sensitive material, spray drying is attractive for a wide range of applications spray drying is a unique unit operation in which powders are produced from a liquid feed in a single processing step. Key component of the process are atomizer, spray chamber. Design of spray chamber should be based on the atomizer type, the production rate, and the particle size required. Because of the complex processes taking place during spray drying, traditional design method are based on pilot-plant tests and empirical scale-up rules. Modern technique such as CFD have a role to play in design and troubleshooting.

한국 서해안 해변식물 군락의 연구 (제 1 보) (Research of the West Coasts` Plant Community in Korea ( I ))

  • The author investigated the plant sociological studies on the flora of Inchon districts coast area. (It contains also province of Buchun, Kumpo, and Hwasung, the island of Kanghwa.) The scenery of the west coast in Korea is very curious, because the soil in this area contains comapratively large amount of mud and small sand. Some parts of this area is covered with only mud, and the area between the line of high tije and line of low tide is very vast. When a low tide was appearel, there were vast moddel places appeared about 10 km in length. The author could distinguish $\varepsilon$ different types of communties in this zone. (1) Suaeda jatonica community (2) Statice japonica community (3) Scirtus triqueier community (4) Zoy_ia community (5) Phragmites community (6) Carex Pumilla community (7) Atriolex subsodata community (8) Rosa rugasa community (1), (2), (3), (4) communities can grow under the high tide. (When the high tide comes they soaked in the sea water.) (1) Suaeda community is the most popular type of the Yellow sea. It is very wonderful scene that the vast area (the length of 10 km) is covered with this Suaeda, and it looks like to be painted with blood. (2) Staice (3) Scirpus (4) Zoysia community is can fully maintain their glorious life in the sea water. It is due to the this plants tolerance of salt. (1), (2), (3), (4) communities are very strong to the tolerance of salt, especially the Suaeda is remarkable. The structure and some sucession I trend of each community were studied in detail and the mutual relations among the communites were also concluded.

서울시 유통 소금의 중금속 함량 및 안전성 평가 (Heavy Metal Contents and Safety Evaluation of Commercial Salts in Seoul)

  • 시중 유통 소금 55건은 유형별로는 천일염 22건, 가공소금 17건, 재제소금 16건이었으며, 국산 33건, 수입 22건이었다. 수입국으로는 프랑스를 비롯하여 미국, 일본, 호주, 뉴질랜드, 아르헨티나였다. 식용소금 55건을 ICP-OES 및 Mercury analyzer를 이용하여 납, 카드뮴, 크롬, 구리, 비소, 니켈, 알루미늄, 코발트, 수은을 분석한 결과 평균 $0.281{\pm}0.344$, $0.035{\pm}0.221$, $0.364{\pm}0.635$, $0.182{\pm}0.313$, $0.046{\pm}0.062$, $0.155{\pm}0.247$, $5.753{\pm}10.746$, $0.028{\pm}0.211$, $0.001{\pm}0.001$ mg/kg이 검출되었다. 납의 검출량은 천일염에서 가공소금, 재제소금보다 유의적인 수준으로 높았으며, 크롬과 니켈은 가공소금에서 다른 소금에 비해 유의적으로 높았다. 알루미늄은 수입산 천일염과 가공소금에서 시료 간 큰 차이를 나타냈으며, 검출량이 높은 제품은 프랑스산으로 지역적인 영향이 큰 것으로 판단된다. 소금의 섭취 시 중금속에 대한 안전성을 평가하기 위해 소금을 통한 중금속의 주간섭취량과 FAO/WHO에서 제시하는 잠정주간섭취허용량(PTWI), 1인 1일 최대섭취허용량(PMTDI)과 미국 환경보호청(U.S. EPA)의 만성경구섭취 참고용량(RfD)과 비교하여 %PTWI를 구하였다. 금속별 주간섭취량은 납, 카드뮴, 크롬, 구리, 수은 각각 평균 0.413(0.000~1.688), 0.026(0.000~0.505), 0.667 (0.000~5.519), 0.265(0.022~1.720), 0.002(0.000~0.005), ${\mu}g/kg$ bw/week이었으며, %PTWI는 납, 카드뮴, 크롬, 구리, 수은이 각각 1.652(0.000~6.754), 0.372(0.000~7.214), 3.177(0.000~26.279), 0.008(0.001~0.049), 0.031(0.000~0.094)%로 소금을 통한 중금속 섭취량은 안전한 수준으로 판단되었다.

온도보상형 온라인 굴절계를 이용한 해수의 염도 측정 (Salinity Determination Using Temperature Compensated On-Line Refractometer)

  • An on-line refractrometer made of easily obtainable materials is built to determine the salinity and temperature of sea water, and its performance is examined by applying the refractometer to known salt solution. Since refractive index and temperature are measured simultaneously, it is possible to compensate the effect of temperature for accurate measurement. The outcome of salinity measurement for the different concentrations of salt solution indicates that the device is suitable for the salinity measurement by yielding stable and reproducible reading.

Bamboo salt attenuates $CCl_4$-induced hepatic damage in Sprague-Dawley rats

  • Bamboo salt, a Korean folk medicine, is prepared with solar salt (sea salt) and baked several times at high temperatures in a bamboo case. In this study, we compared the preventive effects of bamboo salt and purified and solar salts on hepatic damage induced by carbon tetrachloride in Sprague-Dawley rats. Compared with purified and solar salts, bamboo salts prevented hepatic damage in rats, as evidenced by significantly reduced serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and lactate dehydrogenase (P < 0.05). Bamboo salt (baked $9{\times}$) triggered the greatest reduction in these enzyme levels. In addition, it also reduced the levels of the proinflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-6, interferon (IFN)-${\gamma}$, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$. Histopathological sections of liver tissue demonstrated the protective effect of bamboo salt, whereas sections from animals treated with the other salt groups showed a greater degree of necrosis. We also performed reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and western blot analyses of the inflammation-related genes iNOS, COX-2, TNF-${\alpha}$, and IL-$1{\beta}$ in rat liver tissues. Bamboo salt induced a significant decrease (~80%) in mRNA and protein expression levels of COX-2, iNOS, TNF-${\alpha}$, and IL-$1{\beta}$, compared with the other salts. Thus, we found that baked bamboo salt preparations could prevent $CCl_4$-induced hepatic damage in vivo.

천연 염미증강제 개발을 위한 완도산 다시마의 열수 추출 조건 최적화 및 염미증강 효능 평가 (Optimization of Hot Water Extraction Conditions of Wando Sea Tangle (Laminaria japonica) for Development of Natural Salt Enhancer)

  • 완도산 다시마를 천연 염미증강제로 개발하기 위하여 다시마로부터 정미성분이 최적으로 추출되는 열수 추출 조건을 평가하였으며, 다시마 추출분말을 이용하여 염미증강 효능과 나트륨 저감화율을 분석하였다. 정미성분 추출에 가장 적합한 완도산 다시마의 수확시기를 선정하기 위하여 5월, 6월, 7월에 수확한 다시마의 일반성분과 유리아미노산을 분석한 결과 정미성분 아미노산(glutamic acid와 aspartic acid)의 함량이 가장 높은 6월 수확 다시마를 추출 원료로 선정하였다. 다시마 열수 추출 온도와 시간 조건을 평가하기 위하여 $60^{\circ}C$, $80^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$에서 1시간, 2시간, 3시간을 각각 추출하여 추출액의 품질 특성을 분석한 결과 $100^{\circ}C$ 추출 조건에서 가용성 고형분과 조단백의 함량이 35.47~36.93%와 3.75~4.00%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 점도는 1.96~2.19 cP로 낮게 나타나 추출 온도는 $100^{\circ}C$를 선정하였다. 추출 시간 선정을 위하여 $100^{\circ}C$에서 추출 시간에 따른 추출액의 정미성분 아미노산 함량과 관능적 특성을 평가한 결과 추출 2시간에서 정미성분 아미노산인 glutamic acid와 aspartic acid의 함량이 각각 275.33 mg%와 121.18 mg%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 관능적 기호도도 유의적으로 높게 평가되어 다시마로부터 정미성분 추출을 위해 적합한 추출 온도와 시간은 $100^{\circ}C$, 2시간 조건으로 확인되었다. 정미성분이 최적으로 추출된 다시마의 추출분말을 제조하여 NaCl 용액에 첨가한 후 염미증강 효능을 평가한 결과 짠맛 강도 1, 5, 9의 NaCl 용액이 다시마 추출분말 1% 첨가 후 짠맛 강도 4.25, 10.08, 16.58로 상승하였다. 동일한 짠맛 강도에서 NaCl 용액과 다시마 추출분말이 첨가된 시험용액의 나트륨 함량을 측정하여 나트륨 저감화율을 분석한 결과 12.24~24.33%의 저감화율을 나타내었다. 본 연구를 통하여 감칠맛과 정미성분이 풍부한 다시마 추출물은 조미소재뿐만 아니라 식품에서 나트륨 함량을 줄이기 위한 천연 염미증강제로서 산업적 활용을 기대할 수 있다.

Interpretation of the Chemical Transformation of Individual Asian Dust Particles Collected on the Western Coast of Korean Peninsula

  • This paper is focused on the comprehensive and detailed interpretation for the chemical transformation of individual Asian dust (hereafter called "AD") particles during long-range transport from source regions to receptor area. A multi-stage particle sampler was operated at a ground-based site in Taean, Korea directly exposed to the outflow of air masses from China during AD period in April 2003. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses for size-classified individual particles were carried out by a microbeam X-ray fluorescence (XRF) method and a microbeam Particle Induced X-ray Emission (micro-PIXE), respectively. Among major characteristic elements, the elemental masses of soil derived components, sulfur, and chloride varied as a function of particle size showing the monomodal maximum with a steeply increasing at 3.3-4.7 ${\mu}m$ particle size. Although the details on chemical composition of AD particle collected on a straight line from source area to our ground-based site are needed, a large amount of Cl coexisted in and/or on AD particles suggests that AD particles collected in the present study might be actively engaged in chemical transformation by sea-salt and other Cl containing pollutants emitted from the China's domestic sources. Through the statistical analyses it was possible to classify individual AD particles into six distinct groups. The internally mixed AD particles with Cl, which has various sources (e.g., sea-salt, coal combustion origin HCl, gaseous HCl derived from the adsorption of acids to sea-salt, and Cl containing man-made particles) were thoroughly fractionated by the elemental spectra drivened by the double detector system of micro-PIXE.

어창용 해수 냉각장치 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of sea water cooling apparatus for fish hold storage)

  • The objective of this study was to manufacture the sea water cooling apparatus for fish hold storage to extend the freshness of fish. Using the sea water cooling apparatus manufactured, it makes observations on the physicochemical and sensual properties of mackerel such as ATP and its related compounds, K-value, VBN, TMA, TBA, salt-concentration and skin color through storage. The results of this investigation showed that the values of physicochemical properties such as ATP and its related compounds, K-value, VBN, TMA, TBA increased gradually during storage in sea water cooling apparatus manufactured and the changes of skin color was inhibited also. From these results, it could be suggested that developed sea water cooling apparatus is effective in shelf-life extension of fishes.
