건미역의 수침에 따른 흡수율과 보수율, 색도 및 무기성분의 함량 변화 (Changes in Water Absorption, Water-holding Capacity, Chromaticity and Mineral Contents of Dried Sea Mustards on Soaking)

  • This study was conducted to examine the water absorption, water-holding capacity, color and mineral contents in natural and cultured dried sea mustards on soaking treatment. Four dried samples of natural and cultured sea mustards were used for the experiments. The effects of soaking treatment on water absorption and water-holding capacity in sea mustards were examined, as the results, these were rapidly accelerated 5 minutes after soaking. It showed that water-holding capacity was significantly high in the case of high absorption of water by soaking. The L, a and b values were increased until 30 minutes after soaking. There was significant difference for potassium content between dried natural and dried cultured sea mustards and the natural sea mustard was 10 times as high as the cultured sample. All mineral elements in these materials were significantly decreased and especially, potassium were significantly more decreased at 50~80% of total content by soaking treatment. Ca/ P ratio in these materials by soaking was about 2~3 : 1 levels.

해양심층수 관련 국내 특허출원 동향 (Current Status of Applied Korean Patents Regarding the Deep Sea Water)

  • Deep sea water exists at depths of over 200m under the sea. As no sunlight reaches it, photosynthesis does not take place within it, and it contains no organic matter. In addition, its temperature is maintained at a stable low level throughout the year, so it does not get mixed with the sea water on the surface. It contains a large amount of nutritious salts, whose cleanness is maintained. It is a marine resource that has matured for a long period of time. Research into deep sea water, which started in the 1970s, has been made around the whole world, including the USA and Japan. In Korea, research has been active in this area since 2000. As there has been a good amount of research into industrial applications for deep sea water, since 1993, patents for the relevant technologies have been applied. This paper intends to provide a resource to researchers of deep sea water, by summarizing of all domestic deep sea water-related patents applied with Korean Intellectual Property Office from 1993 to 2008. This research was conducted using a computer and KIPRIS Database owned by the Korea Institute of Patent Information. 'Deep sea water' was used as the search keyword. A total of 222 Korean patents relating to deep sea water have been registered on the basis of IPC. Of these, 126 patents relate to the manufacturing and the treatment of foods, foodstuffs, or non-alcoholic beverages(A23L), while 50 patents relate to the production for medical, dental, or cosmetic purposes(A61K). 38 patents relate to water purification, treatment of wastewater, sewage and sludge (C02F), while 8 patents relate to fishery and farming(A01K). In summary, it was found that studies for the practical use of deep sea water have been conducted in relation to the manufacturing and the treatment of foods, foodstuffs, beverages, and cosmetics.

유독해수(油獨海水)의 조정(調整)과 성장(性狀)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Conditioning and Characteristics of the Sea Water containing Heavy Oil)

  • As the leakage of crude oil from tankers breaks out frequently, it caused a serious problem for ocean pollution and calls for developing treatments to handle the leaked crude oil and mitigate the pollution. Thus it is required to develop new purification technolgies and appropriate treatment systems which have sufficient treatment capability in order to cope with the anticipated ocean pollution. In this experiment, A and B type heavy oils were used to make the emulsion of both water containing heavy oil and sea-water containing heavy oil. The following are the main results from this study ; 1. When A and B type heavy oils were added to the original sea-water and treatedin the homogrenizer respectively, the particle of oil beacame smaller in both cases. Under the same condition, while the initial oil density of sea-water containing B-heavy oil is higher than of emulsion with A-heavy oil, the particle of A-heavy oil is finer than that of B-heavy oil. 2. When A and B type heavy oils were added to distilled water and treated in the homogenizer respectively, the particle was more dispersed and finer than that in the case of sea-water in both cases. In this result, the water containing oil formed more stable emulsion than the sea-water containing oil. 3. In this experiment, all emulsions showed oil in water types. 4. Since the oil particle is larger in the sea-water than in the distillated water, interms of elimination of oil, it is thought to be more important to give Membrane treatment after implementing sandfilter, activity carbon, coagulation-sedimentation and floating separation as pre-treatment.

인삼과 토마토의 기능성 성분 증진을 위한 동해 해양심층수의 이용 (Use of East Deep Sea Water for the Increase of Functional Components of Ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) and Tomato (Lycopersicon eculentum L.))

  • 해양심층수의 처리에서 처리농도가 높아짐에 따라 대조구보다 작물의 생육이 떨어짐으로 과실의 생육과 수량은 감소한다. 평균 생체중은 전체적으로 양액 내 해양심층수의 농도가 높을수록 감소하는 경향이었다. 특히 1화방에 비하여 2화방의 생계중이 처리농도가 높아질수록 현저히 감소하였다. 과실의 고형물 함량은 심층수의 농도가 높을수록 증가하는 경향이었다. 제 1화방의 경우 10mM과 20mM 처리구에서 가장 많이 증가하였으나, 제 2화방의 경우 30mM과 40mM 처리구가 가장 많이 증가하였다. 토마토 과실을 구성하는 당은 glucose와 fructose가 대부분이었고 sucrose는 미량만 검출되었다. 과실 내 fructose와 glucose의 함량이 처리농도가 높을수록 줄어드는 이유는 심층수에 의해 생긴 염 스트레스에 의해 잎의 생육이 저하된 것에 기인한 것으로 보인다. 이 실험에서는 20mM 처리구의 라이코펜 함량이 가장 많은 것으로 나타났으며 무처리구와 나머지 처리구의 함량은 크게 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 심층수 처리는 염 스트레스로 작용하여 에틸렌 형성을 유도 및 촉진시켜 과실의 성숙이 빨라진 것으로 생각되었다. 해양심층수의 처리는 가용성 고형물 함량과 lycopene 함량을 높임으로써 토마토 과실의 품질에 효과가 있으나 생체중의 감소로 인한 생산량 감소가 생긴다. 이에 적정처리 농도인 20mM로 처리하였을 때 고품질의 과실 생산이 가능함과 동시에 생산량 감소를 최소화할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 전체 ginsenosides 중 Re의 농도가 전 처리구에서 모두 가장 높은 함량을 차지하였으며, ginsenosides의 총함량은 EC 8 처리구를 제외한 전 처리구에서 대조구 보다 높게 나타났다. PT/PD의 값은 EC 8 처리구가 1.31로 가장 낮았고, EC 6 처리구가 2.52로 가장 높았으며, 나머지 처리구는 큰 차이가 없었다.

Effect of Deep Sea Water on Seed Germination, Photoperiod and Temperature on the Growth and Flowering of Buckwheat Species

  • This paper describes the potential use of deep sea water to stimulate seed germination in both common and Tartary buckwheat. Treatment of 10% deep sea water at $25^{\circ}C$ would slightly enhance germination of buckwheat seeds compared to non-DSW treatment and other temperature. In this study, the significant effects of photoperiod and temperature on seedling growth were also found in the HL treatment for the number of leaf, plant height, and plant fresh weight and LL treatment for root length and leaf size. Common buckwheat (Suwon No.1) showed higher rate (93%) of flowering plants in the HS and LL (93% of flowering rates) than those revealed in the HS and LS treatment, while the low percentage(67%) of plant flowering plants was shown in the LS treatment. All plants (100%) of a Korean landrace, Ahndong-jaerae showed flowers in the HS and LS treatment. HL and LL treatment status did not occur in the plant's flowering. Any Tartary buckwheat (KW45) plant did not yet flowered when it was 21 days-old.

오존을 이용한 유기물 및 세균의 제거 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Removal Characteristics of Organic matter and Bacteria with the Use of Ozone)

  • The aim of this study is to measure the removal characteristics of organic matter and bacteria with the use of ozone to reduce the problems caused by bacteria and organic matter which appear in sea-water is summer season. When the total input of ozone was $1.4mg/{\ell}O_3$, the removal rate of bacteria and E-coli from sea-water proved to be 100%. With the same input of ozone, on the other hand, the removal rate of COD turned to be relatively low, 50%, which was to the fact that sea-water consists of salt matter which is a kind of COD matter. This result supports the idea that we can keep using ozone steadily in the future to remove organic matters and bacteria from sea-water because ozone destructs relatively less salt matter in sea-water. Also, the treatment effect rate of SS, turbidity and organic matters such as $NH_3$-N, $NO_3$-N etc, was very high. As a result, we assume that the treatment of organic matter in sea-water with ozone is very effective

Pre-Sowing Seed Treatment: Effect of Deep Sea Water Priming on Germination of Wild Vegetables; Gondalbi (Cirsium setidens), Jandae (Adenophora triphylla var. Joponica Hara) and Deoduck (Codonopsis lanceolata Trautv.)

  • This experiment was conducted on wild vegetables; Gondalbi (Cirsium setidens), Deoduck (Codonopsis lanceolata Trautv.), and Jandae (Adenophora triphylla var. Joponica Hara) seed to study whether priming with deep sea water results in enhancement of seed germination and identify the optimum concentration of the priming solution, and duration of priming. Seeds were primed with 5 various concentrations (5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 30%) of deep sea water (DSW) in 12 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours at $24^{\circ}C$. Since Jandae had seed dormancy, it was kept for four weeks in refrigerator at $2^{\circ}C$ after priming treatment. In Deoduck, 5 percentage DSW priming significantly improved the early germination percentage, radicle length, and plumule emergence percentage. Among the priming period of treatments, 24 hours priming showed better performance in this treatment whereas, in Jandae, 12 hours priming with 10 percentages DSW significantly improved the germination percentage and germination rate. This treatment had increased the final germination percentage by 54%, 15% and 40% compared with control, plain water and $KNO_3$ priming respectively. But in Gondalbi, priming did not improve the germination of seed. However, among the priming treatments, 12 hours priming with 3% $KNO_3$ and 20% DSW gave better performance. In both the wild vegetables; Deoduck and Jandae, priming in deep sea water had improved the germination percentage and germination rate as compare to plain water, $KNO_3$, and without priming treatment. Hence the best seed priming treatment on Deoduck and Jandae are 24 hours with 5% DSW and 12 hours with 10% DSW respectively.

해수를 이용한 펄프공장 폐액의 화학적 처리에 관한 연구 (The study of chemical treatment of pulp mill bleaching waste liquor using sea water)

  • The study was conducted to know the possibility that the removal efficiency of organic and suspended solids(SS) could be increased by suppling of sea water and the optimum amount of sea water to be supplied treat bleaching waste water by lime coagulation settlement at pulp mill process. When the lime dosage was increased, the removal efficiency of COD and SS in the waste water was increased based on the removal efficiency of COD and SS. The lime dosage and removal efficiency was increased proportionally with the lime concentration of 4,000 mg/l, but the increase of removal efficiency was presented slightly above the 4,000mg/l. It was evaluated that the removal efficiencies of COD and SS could be increased and the requirement of lime dosage could be decreased by the sea water supplement. The removal efficiency of SS was most increased when the sea water supplement was 10% or more in the waste water. The removal efficiencies of COD was the best at 4% sea water excepting the dilution efficiency by sea water supplement.

다변량 해석기법을 이용한 인천연안해역의 수질평가 (The Evaluation of Water Quality in Coastal Sea of Incheon Using a Multivariate Analysis)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate characteristic of water duality in coastal sea of Incheon using a multivariate analysis. The analysis data in coastal sea of Incheon was aquired by the NFRDI data which was surveyed from March 1997 to November 2003. Eleven water quality parameters were determined on each survey The results were summarized as follow : Water quality in Incheon coastal sea could be explained up to 64.62% by three factors which were included in loading of fresh water and nutrients by the land(36.98%), seasonal variation(16.19%), and internal metabolism (11.24%). The results of time series analysis by factor score, in case of factor 1, station 1 influenced by Han river was shown to high factor score and station 3 located by outer sea was shown to low factor score. In case of factor 2, station 1 was appeared to high variation and station 3 was appeared to low variation. The result of cluster analysis by station was classified into three group that has different water quality characteristics. Especially, station 1 which affected by Han river and station 4 which affected by sewage treatment plant was appeared to considerable water quality characteristics against other station. In yearly cluster analysis, three group was classified and water quality in 2003 years due to high precipitation was different to another year. It could be suggested from these results that it is important to control discharge of fresh water by Han rivet and sewage treatment plant for water quality management of coastal sea of Incheon.

미역 및 다시마로부터 마이크로파 전처리와 열수로 추출된 알긴산의 물리적 특성 (Preparation of Water Soluble Alginic Acid Prepared from Sea mustard and Sea tangle by Microwave and Hot Water)

  • 마이크로파 전처리와 열수 추출방법으로 알긴산을 추출하여 용해성, 점성 및 분자량을 비교$\cdot$검토하였다. 마이크로파 전처리 온도에 따른 수율은 미역이 다시마 보다 높았고, 온도가 높을수록 더욱 높아지는 경향을 보였다. 미역의 경우 처리 시간 90분 이상에서는 영향을 받지 않았고, 다시마의 경우는 처리 시간 120분까지 서서히 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 수율의 측면에서 미역 및 다시마의 마이크로파 전처리 조건은 $100^{\circ}C$에서 90분과 $100^{\circ}C$에서 120분이 각각 적절하였다. 마이크로파 처리에 있어서 추출 온도는 용해도와 점도에 영향은 주었는데, $80^{\circ}C$에서는 미역과 다시마의 각각 용해도가 $69\%,\;77\%$였고, $100^{\circ}C$에서는 $86\%,\;94\%$였다. $100^{\circ}C$마이크로파 전처리 시료의 경우, 원료와 처리 시간에 관계없이 탄산나트륨으로 추출한 알긴산에 비해 $5\%$ 이하의 점도를 보였다 한편, 열수 추출 온도가 알긴산의 추출에 미치는 영향은 다시마보다 미역에서 컸으며, 추출 시간 경과로 수율이 증가하였다. 다시마도 유사한 경향을 보였으나 미역에 비해 그 폭은 작았다. 용해도는 추출 온도 $60^{\circ}C$를 제외하고는 추출 온도가 높아져도 큰 변화가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 분자량은 기존의 탄산나트륨을 이용한 추출법으로 제조된 알긴산의 분자량은 80만이 넘는 것으로 확인되었고, 마이크로파 전처리 및 열수 추출한 알긴산의 경우는 분자량이 12,000$\~$45,000 정도로 매우 작았다.
