The sea spider genus Cilunculus Loman, 1908 comprises 33 species having short chelifores, separate lateral processes, and a hood structure on the cephalic segment. A pycnogonid species, Cilunculus armatus(Böhm, 1879), was collected from Baekdo Island and Chujado Island, Korea. This species is characterized by having a hood structure on the cephalic segment, separate lateral processes, a low ocular tubercle without eyes, and 3-segmented chelifores. In the examined material, chela shape, arrangement of compound spines on strigilis, and number of heel spines at propodus were different from the previous literatures. Here, we examined C. armatus collected in Korean waters and provided illustrations and pictures in detail.

1996년 8월 19일부터 24일까지 전남 완도군 고금도에서 채집한 거미류를 분류 동정한 결과, 17과 44속 82종이 채집되었다. 이중에서 2미기록종; Achaearanea oculipromientis와 Sitticus avocator을 재기재한다.

Asthma and allergic rhinitis due to outdoor spider mites are major health problems worldwide. The sensitization route to spider mites has not yet been well elucidated. We examined the microstructure of faecal pellets and silk of the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae, using a field emission scanning electron microscope. Black and white pellets of the two-spotted spider mites faeces contain a large amount of plant pigment waste products. Black faecal pellets are strawberry-shaped. White faecal pellets are silken threads. These pellets are likely to be the source of allergens of relevant mites because desiccated faeces particles probably disintegrate and become incorporated into dust particles more readily than whole bodies or encased internal organs. We conclude that the importance of spider mites in respiratory allergy needs emphasis.

과거에는 주요 항로 인근의 해양안개(sea fog)를 관측하고 이를 선박들의 안전 운항을 위한 실시간 정보를 제공하는 데 있어서, 작동 원리가 유사한 기상관측용 시정계(Visibility Sensor) 또는 항로표지용 안개감지기(fog detector) 등을 설치하여, 장비가 설치된 곳 인근의 국지적인 안개를 관측하고 있었다. 하지만 먼지, 염분 및 꽃가루 등에 의한 오염이나 거미줄 같은 생물에 의한 감지 센서의 오동작이 자주 발생되어, 실시간 관측 정보의 신뢰성이 다소 낮은 상황이었기 때문에 실시간으로 해양안개 관측정보를 선박이나 이용자에게 즉각 제공하기에는 다소 무리가 있었다. 2019년부터 2022년까지 기상청과 해양수산부 항로표지과 등이 협업을 통해, 보다 신뢰성 있는 실시간 영상기반 해양안개관측 시스템을 전국 주요 항로에 있는 항로표지시설(Lighthouse) 100개 국소에 구축하여 신뢰성 있는 해양안개관측 정보를 매 10분마다 수집하고, 이를 실시간으로 대국민 서비스(웹페이지)를 수행하게 되었다.

Hitherto 44 species belonging to 19 families of spiders have been reported at Ulreung-do on the East Sea. Korea. The authors have investigated spider fauna, through out the Ulreung-do, during July 25, August 3. 1975 and July 30, August 7, 1980. The foundings were as followings. 1) In this report, 132 species of 74 genera, including 3 undetermined species, belonging to 25 families of spiders are tabulated by the aid of published data and collections of the authors. Eighty six species are added to the fauna, of which 2 species are new to Korea. as follows; Porrhomma montanum Jackson. 1918, Clubiona neglecta O.P. Cambridge, 1862. The spider fauna of Ulreung-do includes 18 nothern species $(14.0\%)$, 8 southern species $(6.2\%)$. 7 cosmopolitan species $(5.4\%)$ and 84 Palaearctic temperate species $(65.1\%)$. The predominant species are Araneids. Thridiids, especially Cyclosa japonica Boes. et Str. are found in large numbers all over this island. A major concern regarding the collection and storage of biodiversity information is the inefficiency of conventional taxonomic approaches in dealing with a large number of species. This inefficiency has increased the demand for automated, rapid, and reliable molecular identification systems and large-scale biological databases. DNA-based taxonomic approaches are now arguably a necessity in biodiversity studies. In particular, DNA barcoding using short DNA sequences provides an effective molecular tool for species identification. We constructed a large-scale database system that holds a collection of 5531 barcode sequences from 2429 Korean species. The Korea Barcode of Life database (KBOL, http://koreabarcode.org) is a web-based database system that is used for compiling a high volume of DNA barcode data and identifying unknown biological specimens. With the KBOL system, users can not only link DNA barcodes and biological information but can also undertake conservation activities, including environmental management, monitoring, and detecting significant organisms.

This study explores how folktales' motifs are used in diverse cultural contents such as literature, movies, or comics. More precisely, it is concerned with mysterious characters like Babayaga and Koshchei who appear in Russian fairytales. When the motifs of the reviewed literature are analyzed, the following three criteria are used for classification: New Writing, Rewriting, and New Version. Or course, it is New Writing that is far from the original work. Most of the collected works, including Joan Aiken's The Kingdom Under the Sea, Patricia Polacco's Babushka's Doll, Babushka Baba Yaga, and Tai?-Marc Le Thanh's BABAYAGA, belong to New Writing. The New Writing type mainly focuses on Babayaga's secluded life. In fairytales, Babayaga is depicted as the goddess of Mother Earth, the heroine of the Nature, or the ruler of the Animal Kingdom. That is why she lives in the deep and uninhabited wood. She is related to the Coming of Age ceremony. Her 'Hut on hen's legs' is an obstacle for immature protagonists to face before they come of age. Protagonists are supposed to solve the problems posed by Babayaga. If they succeed, they can get her magical help so as to complete their final mission. Babayaga is likely to appear as their antagonist. Protagonist may be subjected to a terrible ordeal created by Babayaga, and then come of age by recovering from that ordeal. Sometimes, Babayaga helps protagonists to get a grip on reality. That is why she lives in a hut in the deep and dark forest which is on the borderline between life and death. On the other hand, Marianna Mayer's Baba Yaga and Vasilisa the Brave has been classified as a controversial work between New Writing and Rewriting. It is apparently closer to New Version. However, it cannot be classified as a work of New Version because the author incorporates 'probability' into her work. Among the reviewed works, it is Korean Writer Rye, Kami's The Spider Woman's House that best reflects the essence of Babayaga. Babayaga and other characters are amusing in movies because most of the movies are animations for children. In one sense, it is positive that the scary characters in folktales are approachable to children. In other sense, however, it is regrettable that symbolic motifs are completely eliminated. In Mike Mignola's Hellboy, Japanese animations such as Index or Narutaru, on-line games such as Cabal or Vampire: The masquerade, the essence of the supernatural characters in folktales is completely eliminated, and only their 'belligerent power' stands out. It is desirable to put stories into perspective whether they are written or told. The literature property of folktales provides a special opportunity to readers. In this light, a variety of motifs have a good reason to be reborn as modern cultural contents. The bottom line is to maintain its true nature.
