Recently, the rapid evolution of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has enabled its key role in industries and predictive sciences. From diverse research disciplines, however, are there strong needs for integrated analytical tools for multi-phenomena beyond simple flow simulation. Based on the concurrent simulation of multi-dynamics, multi-phenomena beyond simple flow simulation. Based on the concurrent simulation of multi-dynamics, multi-physics and multi-scale phenomena, the multi-phenomena CFD technology enables us to perform the flow simulation for integrated and complex systems. From the multi-phenomena CFD analysis, the high-precision analytical and predictive capacity can enhance the fast development of industrial technologies. It is also expected to further enhance the applicability of the simulation technique to medical and bio technology, new and renewable energy, nanotechnology, and scientific computing, among others.
This paper explores multi-technology capabilities between Korea and Taiwan by analyzing the pattern of inventive activities concerning technology fusion by using patent bibliometrics. Although two countries exhibit a similar level of invention activities and high degree of specialization in emerging technologies measured by the number and technological fields of their US patents, innovation systems in two countries differ. MTCs (multi-technology corporations) are stronger in Korea national innovation system while small innovative firms play important roles in Taiwan national innovation system. Technology fusion has been an important source of technological innovation and it suggests possible advantage for the Korean innovation system because it is a common belief that global size firms - most of them are multi-technology corporations - can perform better in multi-technology fusion and scientific research. The result of patent bibliometrics suggests rather complex answers to the belief Even though Korea shows slight advantage, it may not be ascribed to the large MTCs.
Space launch vehicle development needs many kinds of technologies synthetically. Nowadays, KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) has developed a space launch vehicle, KSLV-I (Korea Space Launch Vehicle-I), that is able to load with an 100kg payload. After that it plans to develop Korean Space Launch Vehicle. As space launch vehicle becomes more complicate and larger, it needs a scientific and analytic development cost estimation. In this paper a cost estimation for KSLV-II using TRANSCOST 7.1 was studied.
The technology transfer agreements, which transfer technology from industrialized countries to developing countries, are subjected to control and restrictions in many developing countries in order to protect national interests. The licensors endeavour, therefore, to ensure that their activities fit satisfactorily into the technological policies and plans of the host countries, and contribute to the development of national scientific and technological potential, including the establishment and improvement in host countries of their capacity to innovate. Secondly, the licensors adopt in the course of their business activities practices which permit the rapid diffusion of technologies with due regard to the protection of industrial and intellectual property rights. Thirdly, the licensors endeavour to grant licenses for the use of industrial property rights or to otherwise transfer technology on reasonable terms and conditions.

The simulation of the air flow over models in atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel is a research region based on advanced scientific technologies imposed by the necessity of studying the turbulent fluid dynamics in the proximity of the Earth's surface. In this study, the atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel of UCD is used, the mean velocities are measured by augmentation devices such as roughness blocks and spires. The experimental results of mean velocity profile are well fitted with the value of power law.

I have briefly described some of the important advances in hydrosystems and to remark on the important scientific research priorities in hydrological sciences. We have concentrated on data collection systems, real-time control of hydrosystems, global climate change and decision support systems and GIS. In summary, I would like to stress the following points: - the advances in data collection systems, advanced methodologies for interfacion hydrologic, hydraulic, and optimization models through optimal control approaches; and the advances in decision support systems and GIS will allow the interfacing of all these technologies into some sophisticated and much needed tools for operating hydrosystems; - the ability to better understand the hydrologic processes and their relationships to other earth processes is important to understanding and modelling of the hydrologic cycle and its interactions with the ocean-atmosphere system; - and the solution to a better understanding of hydrologic sciences needs to be an international effort such as the GEWEX program briefly discussed above. I would like to thamk each of you for listening to my lecture and to once again thank those responsible for me being here today. Thank you.

The fact that cloud computing services have been proposed in recent years, organizations and individuals face with various challenges and problems such as how to migrate applications and software platforms into cloud or how to ensure security of migrated applications. This study reviews the current challenges and open issues in cloud computing, with the focus on autonomic resource management especially in federated clouds. In addition, this study provides recommendations and research roadmaps for scientific activities, as well as potential improvements in federated cloud computing. This survey study covers results achieved through 190 literatures including books, journal and conference papers, industrial reports, forums, and project reports. A solution is proposed for autonomic resource management in the federated clouds, using machine learning and statistical analysis in order to provide better and efficient resource management.

Insights from the recent wealth of popular books on neuroscience are offered to suggest a strengthening of theory in information science. Information theory has traditionally neglected the human dimension in favour of 'scientific' theory often derived from the Shannon-Weaver model. Neuroscientists argue in excitingly fresh ways from the evidence of case studies, non-intrusive experimentation and the measurements that can be obtained from technologies that include electroencephalography, positron emission tomography (PET), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and magnetoencephalography (MEG). The way in which the findings of neuroscience intersect with ideas such as those of Kahneman on fast and slow thinking and Csikszentmihalyi on flow, is tentatively explored as lines of connection with information science. It is argued that the beginnings of a theoretical underpinning for current web-based information searching in relation to established information retrieval methods can be drawn from this.
A variety of Generation III/III+ water-cooled reactor designs featuring enhanced safety and improved economics are being proposed by nuclear power industries around the world in efforts to solve the future energy supply shortfall. Thermal-hydraulics is recognized as a key scientific subject in the development of innovative reactor systems. Phase change by boiling and condensation in the reverse process is a highly efficient heat transport mechanism that accommodates large heat fluxes with relatively small driving temperature differences. This mode of heat transfer is encountered in a wide spectrum of nuclear systems, and thus it is necessary to determine the thermal limit of water-cooled nuclear energy conversion in terms of economic and safety. Such applications are being advanced with the introduction of new technologies such as nanotechnology. Here, we investigated newly-introduced nanotechnologies relevant to boiling and condensation in general engineering applications. We also evaluated the potential linkage between such new advancements and nuclear applications in terms of advanced nuclear thermal-hydraulics.
This paper attempts to find the sources of materials technology innovation and to analyze the relationships between the sources and materials technology innovation. Starting from the traditional hypothesis on the innovation sources (e.g. technology-push, demand-pull and user-supplier), materials scientific knowledges, materials processing technologies and users' needs are found as three main sources of innovation in materials technology. There are not only close interactions between the sources and materials innovation, but also the interactions among the sources of innovations play important roles for materials technology innovation. This paper discusses the characteristics of interactions between sources of innovation in materials technology. This study on the sources and interactions among sources may provide important information for policymaking in materials technology
