The purpose of this paper is to analyze the interrelation among research areas based on domestic journal papers, achievements of korea researchers. Generally, the content of papers is appeared through abstracts, subjects, full-text and so on. This paper is focused on subject terms of Domestic journal papers. The experimental data are 80 domestic journals, 7,616 papers and 58,143 subject terms and papers published in 2009. As the result, it was different to use subject terms on each research area: Engineering, Agriculture & Oceanography, Interdisciplinary Science, Social Science, Arts & Physical Education, Medicine & Pharmacology, Humanities and Natural Science. Subject terms of Engineering have used the most in the other research areas in aspect of term co-occurrence. The 8 research areas were grouped in 3 clusters: C1(Engineering, Natural Science, Social Science, Interdisciplinary Science, Humanities), C2(Medicine & Pharmacology, Arts & Physical Education), and C3(Agriculture & Oceanography).

This study aims to find the direction of subject-divisional plan and the change of composition factors in university Library. To confront new information environment, change of service providing environment, academic characteristics of universities. and users' information needs, the collection and service of university libraries are needed to be restructured based on subject-divisional plan. To adopt subject divisional plan effectively. it is necessary to recognize necessity and reasonability of subject - divisional plan by analyzing a change of physical, intellectual, human, and user factors in the libraries from the aspect of subject-divisional plan. That is, the collection and service of university libraries should be reorganized according to the subjects along with such changes as below. First, people came to consider convenience of space and path of building inside more than past. Second, collection becomes constructed and materials are located based on effectiveness rather than logicality. Third, subject oriented service of library became active through developing the subject abilities of librarians. Fourth, users have tendency to visit libraries lot a special subject matter.

Recently, subject specialized service has been suggested as a solution to overcome a difficulty of library management and to meet the quickly changing needs of library users. Introduction of subject specialized service is raised to be introduced to special libraries and efficient management system is required. However, systematic study on the subject specialized service is very rare. This study investigates and analyzes how subject specialized service is operated in korean special libraries and how subject specialist librarians recognize them. In order to analyzes and investigate, 8 special libraries was selected to survey general management of subject specialized service, recruitment and training issues of subject specialist librarian, their duties and overall evaluation and problem of subject specialized service. Finally the study attempts to suggest development strategies in order to improve subject specialized service in special libraries.

This study intends to make a comprehensive inquiry into the quality of subject data in library catalogs. On the basis of National Library Subject Headings (NLSH) developed in 2002, National Library of Korea (NLK) has input the subject data into cataloging records since 2003. However a serious question could arise regarding whether the data are appropriate and desirable as a subject of the work. Under these circumstances, this study examined as follows: First, the meanings and attributes of the 'subject' were examined with a comprehensive literature survey. Second, a experimental analysis was carried out to measure the quality of the subject data. Sample records were selected from NLK, LC and A university library in Korea, and absolute and relative quality were compared. Finally, the substantial and realistic strategies for improving the quality of subject data were discussed.

The Academic library services are based on specialized subject resources in academic fields in order to maximize the desirable direction of its services. Accordingly, there are some academic libraries introduced and applied subject specialist librarians. However, they can not objectively analyze the strengths and weaknesses as well as future directions to subject specialized service. The purpose of this study examined three library cases which the structure of organized subject specialist librarian. It tried to give a set of effective guidelines for academic libraries to introduce subject specialist librarian. Analysis showed that the initial problems of subject specialist librarians in its early stages are appeared: carrying out the role, appraisal-results in human resource decision making such as rewards and promotion. In order to successful introduction of subject specialist librarian in academic library, there are solutions that solving the problems which happen in early stage, active guidance and public relations strategy for faculty, approaching to activate integration within its library and cooperating among academic libraries should be back up for improving effectiveness in the long term.

We would generally use subject terms such as subject indexing for searching and accessing documents. So then, there must be any relationship between document's full-text and its subject terms. This study is started in this question. Master's theses in field of science and technology are worked with because full-text is relatively formatted. This study is to study locations of subject term on Thesis, distribution patterns of subject terms on content of full-text; 'Contents', 'Introduction', 'Theory', 'Main subject', 'Conclusion' and 'References'. Thesis were averagely composed of 1226.3 terms. And Subject terms were averagely compose of $12{\sim}13$ terms. As a result, 'Contents' and 'Introduction' have had the most frequency of subject.

Subject specialized services are introduced in library environment in order to meet users' needs, which become more specialized, characterized, and personalized. This concept dates back to the 1960 in Korean scholarly research, and previous studies revealed that many libraries in Korea have provided this kind of subject specialized services to library users. This study aimed to consider appropriate directions of subject specialization in Korea. This study examined seven library cases the structure of which is organized by subject specialization. It tried to give a good grasp of background of building up the subject specialization system, current state of the service and its effects, problems and challenges of operating the system, recruitment and training issues of subject specialist librarians, their duties and tasks, and so on. Also Announcements of academic subject specialist positions in Korea are compared to in other countries such as United States, UK, and Canada in order to analyze the demand for subject specialist librarians.

This study aims to suggest the scheme of upbringing Subject Specialists based on the cooperative effort of the main bodies related to Libraries for bringing up and revitalizing plans. Only when all subjects in every sector cooperate hard, upbringing Subject Specialists can come true. To raise subject librarians, First, library-related organizations, groups, and associations have to play an important role in policies and financial support about Subject Specialists. Second, The academic world needs to plan and operate the various education programs for Subject Specialists. Finally, the libraries on the field Have to provide their members with motivation for being Subject Specialists, opportunities for education, and prepare the personage system including employment and compensation for Subject Specialists.

As the number of University libraries which adopt subject divisional Plan in Korea is increasing, lots of problems are coming out, which results from a lack of close examination and analysis before adopting, and the lack of continuous checking and evaluation after adopting. Therefore, this article will do the following. First, study the example of the U.S. university libraries which have a longer history of subject division adoption than Korea. It covers going through the situation at the moment of adopting, the phase of development and decline Second analyse the differences between the libraries in U.S. and Korea on the basis of first study. Finally, study the resonable adoption method considering the changing circumstances aound Libraries and forecast the future movement in adopting the Subject division plan in the university libraries in Korea.

This study developed the subject guide by policy areas for advancement of policy information service, designed the system for constructing the policy-related resources, and tried to construct policy information resources on a trial basis. For the development and construction of policy areas subject guide, first, we divided the aggregated materials into top 9 types, and subdivided into 19 types. Second, we constructed the policy contents for subject guide service, based on BRM classification system which is functional classification of government. Third, a total of 6,305 were build in accordance with 133 BRM subject guide. As a result, it is said that the effectiveness of the policy subject guide developed by this study, were verified by constructing the experimental data.
