Joint Reasoning of Real-time Visual Risk Zone Identification and Numeric Checking for Construction Safety Management

  • The recognition of the risk hazards is a vital step to effectively prevent accidents on a construction site. The advanced development in computer vision systems and the availability of the large visual database related to construction site made it possible to take quick action in the event of human error and disaster situations that may occur during management supervision. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the risk factors that need to be managed at the construction site and review appropriate and effective technical methods for each risk factor. This research focuses on analyzing Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) related to risk zone identification rules that can be adopted by the image recognition technology and classify their risk factors depending on the effective technical method. Therefore, this research developed a pattern-oriented classification of OSHA rules that can employ a large scale of safety hazard recognition. This research uses joint reasoning of risk zone Identification and numeric input by utilizing a stereo camera integrated with an image detection algorithm such as (YOLOv3) and Pyramid Stereo Matching Network (PSMNet). The research result identifies risk zones and raises alarm if a target object enters this zone. It also determines numerical information of a target, which recognizes the length, spacing, and angle of the target. Applying image detection joint logic algorithms might leverage the speed and accuracy of hazard detection due to merging more than one factor to prevent accidents in the job site.

  • Access-control of hazard zone in a steel manufacturing industry is studied in terms of safety management. Based on the results of risk evaluation for hazard zone, three risk zones with low, middle and high level are categorized. These zones have different color door and locking shape depending on their risk levels. At the high level, red door and key-based locking system are employed to accessed-controled path. Furthermore, tagout, lockout, interlock system for emergency stop, warning and flashing are also introduced. New standardized procedure of access-control for various hazard zones, which could help to greatly contribute to the prevention of accidents in advance, is proposed considering the risk level and the condition of given hazard zones. The standardized procedure of access-management suggested in this study will take an effective role as one of safety guide lines for hazardous workshop of manufacturing industries.

티타늄 용접부의 용접결함평가를 위한 초음파거리진폭특성곡선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Ultrnsonic Distance Amplitude Characteristics Curve for Weld Defects Evaluation of Titanium Weld Zone)

  • This study proposes integrity evaluation method of weld zone in titanium using titanium distance amplitude characteristics curve(TDACC) and ultrasonic signals. For these purposes, the ultrasonic signals for porosity defects of weld zone in titanium are acquired in the type of time series data and echo strength. 4 lines in the DACC indicated damage evaluation standard of weld zone in titanium. The acquired ultrasonic signals agree fairly well with the measured results of reference block and sensitivity block(defect location, bean1 propagation distance, echo strength, etc). The proposed TDACC in this study agree fairy well with the measured results of weld zone in titanium(weld defects as porosity). The proposed TDACC in this study can be used for integrity evaluation of weld zone in titanium.

  • 어린이의 경우 신체적, 정신적 능력이 떨어지거나 완성되지 못한 이유 등으로 교통사고의 가능성이 높은 것이 현실이고, 특히 피해자로서 차대사람 사고(보행 중 사고)의 비중이 다른 연령층이나 비장애인에 비해 높게 나타나고 있다. 이로 인해 정부에서는 1995년부터 어린이 보호구역을 지정하여 보행안전을 확보하고자 일련의 정책들을 시행하여 왔다. 그러나 기존의 보호구역에 대한 효과검증 작업에 대한 기초 연구가 미흡한 것도 사실이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존의 어린이 보호구역 등에 대한 효과분석을 통해 이러한 시설들의 설치 타당성을 입증하였다. 평가지표(MOE)로는 어린이 보호구역에서의 구간통행속도 지표를 활용하였다. 차량의 속도와 교통사고와는 상관관계가 있는 것으로 입증되어 평가지표로 선정하였다. 통계분석 결과, 과속방지턱, 고원식 횡단보도 등의 시설물은 차량속도를 감속시키는데 유의한 것으로 분석되었다.

초등학교 통학환경개선에 관한 연구 (A study on improvement of walking safety in newtown schoolzone way)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a scheme to provide children safer and more comfortable walking circumstances by survey current walking circumstances of schoolzone ways. A scheme suggested in this study was based on the analysis of survey to elementary school in 3 Newtowns(Dongtan, Dongbaek and Gumdan Districts) and actually surveyed data on school zone, the scheme can be summed up as follows; First, to avoid pedestrian roads being interrupted and to expend waiting space near schoolzone ways, several measures are needed including fixing roads and building additional gateway. Second, to secure pedestrians' safety in school zone ways should be planned and established more security concepts und facilities Third, to improve the walking safety in schoolzone way should be established specially "schoolzone B-plan".

어린이의 안전한 보행을 위한 iZone 시스템 (The iZone System for Safety Walking of Children)

  • In this paper, we propose iZone system for safe walking of children. The proposed system recognizes the state that a child is down a roadway as a dangerous situation. And then it informs the surrounding adults and guardians of the child in the event of a dangerous situation. The iZone system consists of the iZone device that attaches to a child's bag or clothing, the iZone app for children, the iZone server, and external beacons. The proposed system uses the ultrasonic sensor of the iZone device and the GPS coordinates and external beacons information by the children's smartphone to determine the dangerous situation. The proposed system uses external beacons to calibrate the GPS coordinates. Moreover, it determines whether the child is down the roadway in sidewalk by measuring the height difference between the roadway and the sidewalk using ultrasonic sensor.

  • Efforts are being made to prevent traffic accidents within the child protection zone. Efforts are being made to prevent accidents by enacting safety facilities and laws to prevent traffic accidents in the school zone. However, traffic accidents in school zones continue to occur. If the driver can know the situation in the child protection zone in advance, accidents can be reduced. In this paper, we design a camera that eliminates blind spots in school zones and a number recognition camera system that can collect pre-traffic information. Design a LIDAR system that recognizes vehicle speed and pedestrians. Design an LED guidance system that delivers information to drivers without smart devices. We study time series analysis and artificial intelligence algorithms that collect and process pedestrian and vehicle information recognized by cameras and LIDAR. In the artificial intelligence traffic accident prevention system learned by deep learning, before entering the school zone, the school zone information is sent to the driver through the Force Push Service and the school zone information is delivered to the driver on the LED sign. try to reduce accidents.

  • 본 연구에서는 영상센서를 이용한 상황인식 기반의 컴퓨팅 기술이 혼합된, 스쿨존 안전 관리 시스템을 제안한다. 영상센서를 통한 객체 추출과 상황 인식 기술의 조합을 통하여, 초등학교 주위에서 발생할 수 있는 여러 상황 중 초등학생의 유괴나 사고 등을 인식할 경우 모니터링 장치로 전송하여 응급상황을 관리할 수 있다. 또한 제안된 시스템은 인간의 시각을 필요로 하는 철도 건널목이나, 교통량 통계조사, 공장 자동화 시스템 등 다양한 응용분야에 활용할 수 있는 최적의 선택이라 할 수 있다.
