Separate Reconstruction of Speed of Sound, Density, and Absorption Parameters in Ultrasound Inverse Scattering Tomography

  • This paper proposes a method of separately determining three intrinsic mechanical parameters of an unknown object in the framework of ultrasound inverse scattering tomography. Those parameters are the speed of sound, density, and absorption whose values are given as the solution of an inhomogeneous Helmholtz wave equation. The separate reconstruction method is mathematically formulated, the integral equations are discretized using the sinc basis functions, and the Newton-Raphson method is adopted as a numerical solver in a measurement configuration where the object is insonified by an incident plane wave over 360˚ and the scattered field is measured by detectors arranged in a rectangular fashion around it. Two distinct frequencies are used to separate each parameter of three Gaussian objects that are either located at the same position or separately from each other. Computer simulation results show that the separate reconstruction method is able to separately reconstruct the three mechanical parameters. The absorption parameter turns out to be a little difficult to reconstruct as compared with the other two parameters.

  • In this Paper, we propose an accurate and stable solution of the transient electromagnetic response from three-dimensional arbitrarily shaped conducting objects by using a time domain magnetic field integral equation. This method does not utilize the conventional marching-on in time (MOT) solution. Instead we solve the time domain integral equation by expressing the transient behavior of the induced current in terms of temporal expansion functions with decaying exponential functions and Laguerre·polynomials. Since these temporal expansion functions converge to zero as time progresses, the transient response of the induced current does not have a late time oscillation and converges to zero unconditionally. To show the validity of the proposed method, we solve a time domain magnetic field integral equation for three closed conducting objects and compare the results of Mie solution and the inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) of the solution obtained in the frequency domain.

  • We discuss the effect of stray light on a high-precision camera in an LEO(Low Earth Orbit) satellite. The critical objects and illumination objects were sorted to discover the stray light sources in the optical system. Scatter modeling was applied to determine a noise effect on the surface of a detector, and the relative flux of a signal and noise were also calculated. The stable range of reflectivity of the beam splitter was estimated for various scattering models.

  • Induced electromagnetic fields of printed circuit board are computed using method of moment. In this calculation PEC and dielectric boards are considered when exposed to the external fields. The volume and surface integral equations are presented for the electromagnetic wave scattering from plate structures composed of dielectric and conducting objects. To reduce the computing time a fast multipole technique is applied.

  • 본 논문에서는 3차원 임의 형태 도체 구조의 과도 산란 해석을 위한 결합 적분방정식(CFIE)의 안정된 MOT(Marching-On in Time) 방법을 제안한다. 결합 적분방정 식은 전장 및 자장 적분방정식의 선형적인 결합으로 구성된다. 공식의 전개 과정에서 전방 및 후방, 그리고 중앙 유한 차분을 포함시켜 일반화된 식을 구성하며, 파라미터에 의하여 유한 차분의 종류를 선택할 수 있다. 적분방정식에서 시간에 대한 미분 항을 중앙 유한 차분법으로 근사시키고, 그 외의 시간 의존 항을 평균치로 표현하였을 때, 도체로부터의 과도 산란해는 가장 안정되고 정확하였다. 중앙 유한 차분법을 적용한 MOT 기법에 의한 해를 기존의 방법과 주파수 영역 결합 적분방정식(FD-CFIE)으로부터 얻은 결과의 역 푸리에 변환과 비교한다.

  • Authors made an experiment to know the relation of surface doses and multiple factors of exposure by using grids, fields, tube voltages objects and distances and obtained the results as follows: 1. Surface doses were increased in proportion to the thickness of objects. 2. Surface doses were more influenced when irradiated fields were small and tube voltages were low. 3. Surface doses were a logarthmic proportion to the focus-object distance. 4. Multiple factors of exposure by using grid were under the control of the thickness of objects, irradiated fields and tube voltages but the relation of them were not fixed.

금속에 부착 가능한 UHF 대역 RFID 태그 안테나 (UHF Band RFID Tag Antenna Mountable on metallic Object)

  • 본 논문에서는 금속 물질에 부착 가능한 UHF 대역 RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) 수동형 태그 안테나를 제안하였다. 제안된 태그 안테나는 일반적인 PIFA(Planar Inverted-F Antenna), IFA(Inverted-F Antenna)형태의 안테나를 갖는 태그보다 부착 되는 금속 물질 크기에 상당히 둔감한 특성을 나타내었다. 안테나의 구조는 멀티 층(multi layer)을 구성하였고, "L"자 슬릿을 추가 하여 방사 패치의 크기를 줄였다. 제안된 태그 안테나의 분석을 위해 HFSS 시뮬레이션 툴(tool)을 사용 하였으며, 후방산란(back-scattering)방법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 시뮬레이션과 측정은 금속 물질 크기를 변화시키면서 태그 안테나의 성능을 확인하였다.

유전체의 전자기 과도산란 해석을 위한 시간영역 결합 적분방정식 (Time Domain Combined Field Integral Equation for Transient Electromagnetic Scattering from Dielectric Body)

  • In this paper, we present a time domain combined field integral equation (TD-CFIE) formulation to analyze the transient electromagnetic response from three-dimensional dielectric objects. The solution method in this paper is based on the method of moments (MoM) that involves separate spatial and temporal testing procedures. A set of the RWG (Rao, Wilton, Glisson) functions Is used for spatial expansion of the equivalent electric and magnetic current densities and a combination of RWG and its orthogonal component is used as spatial testing. We also investigate spatial testing procedures for the TD-CFIE to select the proper testing functions that are derived from the Laguerre polynomials. These basis functions are also used for temporal testing. Use of this temporal expansion function characterizing the time variable enables one to handle the time derivative terms in the integral equation and decouples the space-time continuum in an analytic fashion. Numerical results computed by the proposed formulation are presented and compared with the solutions of the frequency domain combined field integral equation (FD-CFIE).

  • In robotics and other fields of engineering, techniques for artificial reality or virtual reality are focused on and studied extensively, e.g., virtual existence for tele-operator systems in robotics, and virtual reality of designed objects in architecture. In order to realize the system we should create physical stimulations according to internal models created by experiences in a human brain. The internal model does not have to have direct connections to the real world, however, the stimulation must be signals such that the internal model are retrieved in a human brain. In this paper we propose a technique for tele-virtual reality of dynamic mechanical models, which means that one dynamic mechanical model can be shared by peoples in distant places. Since a stability issue due to time delays arises in the system, we employed a scattering technique developed for a tele-operator system and a kind of passive adaptive controllers. Furthermore, restrictions due to a simple digital implementation of the scattering transformation are discussed and some conditions for stability are shown. The proposed method is applied to a remote tug of war system and the effectiveness is verified.

  • 본 논문에서는 3차원 유전체로부터의 전자기 과도 응답을 해석하기 위하여 시간 영역 전장 적분방정식을 이용한 새로운 해법을 제안한다. 이를 위하여 공간 및 시간 시험 과정으로 분리한 갤러킨 방법을 적용한다. 3차원임의 형태의 유전체 표면을 삼각형으로 분할한 다음, 공간에 대한 등가 전류의 전개 및 시험 함수로서 삼각형 벡터 함수를 사용한다. 시간 영역의 미지 계수를 라게르 함수로부터 유도된 기저함수로 근사하며, 이 함수를 시간 영역의 시험 함수로도 사용한다 제안된 방법에 의하여 계산된 등가 전류 및 원거리장의 수치 결과들을 제시한다.
