This paper describes the magnetic flux leakage(MFL) type non-destructive testing(NDT) system to detect the 3D defects in underground gas pipe. Magnetic systems with permanent magnets and yokes are analyzed by 3D non-lineal finite element method(FEM) with optimum design. In case of under-saturation of gas pipe, sensing signals are too weak to detect. In case of over-saturation, the changes of the sensing signals are too low to detect the defects sensitively. So, the operating points of the magnetic system are optimized to increase the changes of the MFL signals. The effects of the depth and size of the defects on the sensing signals are analyzed to define the range and resolution of the MFL sensors. To increase the sensor's sensitivity, the back-yoke sensors are introduced and tested.
Much evidence now exists from both in vivo and in vitro studies to support the claim that small caries lesions can 'heal'. But, there are still different views on the mechanism of remineralization. So in order to find the best condition for the remineralization of incipient dental caries in maximum efficient way, the author conducted the experiment which reveals the effect of pH on remineralization. 40 specimens of sound permanent teeth without demineralization or crack, $100{\mu}m$ in thickness, were immersed in lactic acid buffered demineralization solution for 4 days. Dental caries with surface zone and subsurface lesion were artificially produced. All specimens were immersed in lactic acid buffered remineralization solution of pH 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5 containg fluoride ion for 10 days. The results were obtaind by observing the specimens for every 10 days under polarized microscopy at x25. 1. Remineralization did not occur in entire depth of body of lesion at given degree of saturation and concentration of fluoride ion. 2. The pattern of remineralization has increased according to increase of pH. So it can be concluded that supersaturated solution with fluoride ion can be affected by pH in remineralization of enamel, and pH 5.5 seems to be very effective in remineralization of deep and surface zone of dental caries. However, more complex factors exist in achieving complete remineralization and further continuous researches are needed to clarify the factors.

Background: The aim of this study was to examine the difference of $SpO_2$, PR, $EtCO_2$, RR with submucosal injection of midazolam to oral chloral hydrate and hydroxyzine for pediatric patients Methods: Thirty two sedation cases were performed in this study. Patients were randomly classified into one group taking oral CH (60 mg/kg). hydroxyzine (1 mg/kg) and submucosal injection of midazolam (0.1 mg/kg) and the other group recieving oral CH (50 mg/kg), hydroxyzine (1 mg/kg) and submucosal injection of midazolam (0.2 mg/kg). For evaluating the depth of sedation. data including saturation percentage of oxygen ($SpO_2$), pulse rate (PR), end-tidal carbon dioxide ($EtCO_2$), respiratory rate (RR) and the behavior scale were checked every 2 minutes and were collected for only 40 minutes from the beginning of treatment and were analyzed using Two independent sample T-test. Results: Analysis showed no significant difference in the mean $SpO_2$, PR, $EtCO_2$, RR during sedation between two groups (P > 0.05). The values of $SpO_2$, PR, $EtCO_2$ and RR for both groups remained within the normal values. Conclusions: The results of this present study indicate that combination of oral CH, hydroxyzine, nitrous oxide gas inhalation and submucosal injection of midazolam improved the sedation quality without compromising safety.
YIG $(Y_3Fe_5O_{12})$ films with 4~80 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness were epitaxially grown on GGG $(Gd_3Ga_5O_{12})$ substrates by LPE (liquid phase epitaxy) techniques. Using various melts having different chemical composition the growth temperature was varied as a parameter. Growth rate, surface morphology, chemical composition, lattice constant, saturation magnetization, and magnetic resonance of the films were investigated. Lattice mismatch between the substrate and film Δa, saturation magnetization, and magnetic resonance line width ΔH increased, decreased, and increased, respectively, as undercooling temperature ΔT increased. The films grown by using the melt with larger R$_1$and smaller R$_3$had smaller ΔH. The major origin of the increase of ΔH was the increase of Δa. It is considered that the magnetic field in the film became locally inhomogeneous with the increase of Δa due to the increase of inhomogenity in stress distribution to the film depth direction. Therefore, in order to grow YIG films with small microwave loss it is necessary to grow films at small ΔT using the melt with large R$_1$and small R$_3$resulting in a small Δa.
This study aims to present the practical Nitrogen monoxide (NO) removal capacity of cement mortar with Titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) which is one of the paving materials by considering the environment of pavement in urban areas. NO removal capacity test under designated conditions of humidity of inflow gas and the test with variation of the degree of saturation of specimen were conducted. In the test for humidity, dry specimen is subject to the test and NO removal ratio was observed. Humidity-NO removal ratio curve is a log normal distribution in shape, and the maximum NO removal ratio appears at specific humidity. NO removal capacity test relying on the degree of saturation was carried out with wet specimen to reflect the unsaturated pavement by rainfall and domestic sewage. Wet specimen presents less NO removal capacity than dry specimen and the recovering evolution of NO removal capacity follows evaporation. Moreover, $TiO_2$ under the specific depth of specimen hardly contributes to NO removal capacity.

Some of basic aspects of soil potassium with special reference to soil physical properties were discussed. Data in the Official Soil Series Description(Korea) was analyzed according to soil type, land form, and soil texture to find soil potassium status which may explain different response to potassium application. Exchangeable potassium contents decreased with soil depth irrespective of soil type, land form and soil texture. Change in degree of potassium saturation within soil profile was not so clear as exchangeable potassium but the degree of potassium saturation of A horizon was highest among soil horizon. Soils of terrace and mountain foot slope showed high values both in exchangeable potassium and degree of potassium sauration and only these two soils were classified as soils having exchangeable potassium higher than 0.3 meq per 100g of soil and degree of potassium saturation higher than 5.0%. Exchangeable potassium of fine loamy and fine clayey soils is higher than 0.3 meq per 100g of soil but degree of potassium saturation is lower than 4.0%. Degree of potassium saturation of sandy soils exceeds 5.0% but exchangeable potassium is very low. Soils of rolling, hilly, unmatured and alpine land soils have lower exchangeable potassium and show lower degree of potassium saturation. The highest distribution of exchangeable potassium content irrespective of soil horizons was shown in the range of 0.1-0.2 meq per 100g of soil. The highest distribution of degree of potassium saturation was in the range of 2.0-3.0% in A horizon and 1.0-2.0% in B and C horizons. Of the soil series concerned in this analysis, 27.3% in A horizon, 11.1% in B horizon and 4.0% in C horizon had exchangeable potassium higher than 0.3 meq per 100g of soil and 18.0% in A horizon, 6.3% in B horizon, and 4.1% in C horizon showed degree of potassium saturation higher than 5.0%. The low response of potassium application only to soils in terrace and mountain foot slope may be resulted from the high exchangeable potassium content and high degree of potassium saturation. It is concluded that a great response of potassium application to soils is expected especially in dry season.
Biogeochemical characteristics involving redox processes in groundwater from a riverine alluvial aquifer was investigated using multi-level monitoring wells (up to 30m in depth). Anaerobic conditions were predominant and high Fe ($14{\sim}37mg/L$) and Mn ($1{\sim}4mg/L$) concentrations were observed at 10 to 20 m in depth. Below 20 m depth, dissolved sulfide was detected. Presumably, these high Fe and Mn concentrations were derived from the reduction of Fe- and Mn-oxides because dissolved oxygen and nitrate were nearly absent and Fe and Mn contents were considerable in the sediments. The depth range of high Mn concentration is wider than that of high Fe concentration. Dissolved organics may be derived from the upper layers. Sulfate reduction is more active than Fe and Mn reduction below 20 m in depth. Disparity of calculated redox potential from the various redox couples indicates that redox states are in disequilibrium condition in groundwater. Carbonate minerals such as siderite and rhodochrosite may control the dissolved concentrations of Fe(II) and Mn(II), and iron sulfide minerals control for Fe(II) where sulfide is detected because these minerals are near saturation from the calculation of solubility equilibria.

Concrete is a construction material with porous media and corroded steel inside affects negatively to durability and structural safety. This study aims a derivation of quantitative relationship between measured HCP (Half Cell Potential) and corrosion amount considering cover depth and W/C (water to cement) ratio. For the work, cement mortar specimens with 3 different W/C ratios and 4 different cover depths are prepared, HCPs are measured with 3 different corrosion level. HCP measurement significantly increases in the saturated condition and linear relationship is observed between corrosion level and acceleration period. With increasing corrosion level and W/C ratio, and decreasing cover depth, HCP measurement increases. Considering total corrosion level and HCP measurements, relatively low COV(Coefficient of Variation) of 0.67 is evaluated through multi-linear regression analysis, however higher COVs over 0.90 can be obtained considering level of HCP measurement. In the room condition, corrosion level can be evaluated through measured HCP in the given conditions of cover depth, W/C ratio. diameter of steel inside.
Wave-induced response, liquefaction and stability of unsaturated seabed are studied. The unsaturated seabed is modeled as a fluid-filled polo-elastic medium. The coupled process of fluid flow and the deformation of soil skeleton is formulated in the framework of Biot's theory. The resulting governing equations are solved using a semi-analytical method to evaluate the stresses and pore water pressure of unsaturated and multi-layered seabed. The semi-analytical method can be applied to calculate a pore pressure and the stresses of in anisotropic inhomogeneous seabed. The results indicate that the degree of saturation influences mostly on the magnitudes of a pore pressure and the stresses of unsaturated and multi-layed seabed. Based on the pore pressure and stresses in seabed, the analysis on the possibilities of liquefaction and shear failure was performed. The results show that the maximum depth of shear failure occurrence is deeper than the maximum liquefaction depth.
