This paper describes the technique of satellite direction finding and main beam steering of the adaptive array antenna system which is used for mobile TT&C(Tracking Telemetry&Command) system. To be able to control the satellite on mobile vehicle while moving, the relative directional information of the satellite to the mobile vehicle is necessary to make main beam to the direction of satellite. To do this MUSIC, which is one of the super-resolution algorithm of wave direction finding, is used and then the performance analysis and quantization problem of phase shifter are addressed. This paper is valuable in the respect of showing feasibility of designing the moble TT&C using adative array antenna system.
This paper analyzes the orbit determination results using azimuth and elevation angle from ground tracking data, which has the standard data interface format, GEOS-C. The ground tracking data is very useful for initial orbit determination after a satellite launch. In this paper, the quality of the measurement data has been investigated using a variety of real tracking passes, compared with the high precision orbit data of KOMPSAT-2. The accumulated tracking data from consecutive satellite-ground passes is processed for orbit determination using least square method. The accuracy of orbit determination result is also presented.
Northeastward drifts of massive Sargassum patches were observed in the East China Sea (ECS) and Yellow Sea (YS) by the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) in May 2017. Coverage of the brown macroalgae patches was the largest ever recorded in the ECS and YS. Three-dimensional circulation modeling and Lagrangian particle tracking simulations were conducted to reproduce drifting trajectories of the macroalgae patches. The trajectories of the macroalgae patches were controlled by winds as well as surface currents. A windage (leeway) factor of 1% was chosen based on sensitivity simulations. Southerly winds in May 2017 contributed to farther northward intrusion of the brown macroalgae into the YS. Although satellite observation and numerical modeling have their own limitations and associated uncertainties, the two methods can be combined to find the best estimate of Sargassum patch trajectories. When satellites were unable to capture all patches because of clouds and sea fog in the ECS and YS, the Lagrangian particle tracking model helped to track and restore the missing patches in satellite images. This study suggests that satellite monitoring and numerical modeling are complementary to ensure accurate tracking of macroalgae patches in the ECS and YS.

This paper describes the algorithm for more fast tracking by compensation of the staring angle of antenna to receive the satellite signal changed by the mobile vehicle direction. The staring angle is compensated by signal processing from the electronic compass which is called VECTOR2X, and a left-right tracking method. Especially, when mobile vehicle is turning with high speed, it is observed a result which has more fast tracking time by using angle tracking technique compensated by electronic compass than one by only left right tracking method.
Satellite formation flying is currently an active area of research in the aerospace engineering. So it has been researched by various authors. In this study, a tracking controller using sliding mode techniques was designed to control a satellite for the satellite formation flying. In general, Hill's equations are used to describe the relative motion of the follower satellite with respect to the leader satellite. However the modified Hill's equations considering the $J_2$ perturbation were used for the design of sliding mode controller. The extended Kalman filter was applied to estimate the state vector based on the measurements of relative distance and velocity between two satellites. The simulation results show that the follower satellite tracks the desired trajectory well by thruster operations based on the sliding mode control law.

Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) is quickly being adopted by aviation safety authorities around the world as the standard for aircraft tracking. The technology provides the opportunity for live tracking of aircraft positions within range of an ADS-B receiver stations. Currently these receiver stations are bound by land and local infrastructural constraints. As such there is little to no coverage over oceans and poles, over which many commercial flights routinely travel. A low cost space based ADS-B receiving system is proposed as a constellation of small satellites. The possibility for a link between aircraft and satellite is dependent primarily on proximity. Calculating the likelihood of a link between two moving targets when considering with the non-periodic and non-uniform nature of actual aircraft flight-paths is non-trivial. This analysis of the link likelihood and the performance of the tracking ability of the satellite constellation has been carried out by a direct simulation of satellites and aircraft. Parameters defining the constellation (satellite numbers, orbit size and shape, orbit configuration) were varied between reasonable limits. The recent MH370 disappearance was simulated and potential tracking and coverage was analysed using an example constellation. The trend of more satellites at a higher altitude inclined at 60 degrees was found to be the optimal solution.

In this paper, we proposed an algorithm to solve the problem that can't maintain hop synchronization using only early-late gate tracking loop due to the drift of geo-stationary satellite in frequency hopping satellite communication system. When the signal is transferred to downlink through DRT(Dehop-Rebop Transponder), the problem with synchronization loss is occurred periodically when using only early-late gate tracking loop, because of energy loss in each side portion of hop due to orbital variation of the satellite. To solve this problem, we have developed Anti-Shrink synchronization tracking algorithm which uses the prediction value of transmission timing and the structure of inner-outer gate instead of early-late gate with the ranging information. Through simulations, we showed that the performance of the Anti-Shrink algorithm is better than that of simple inner-outer energy ratio algorithm and similar to that of conventional early-late tracking loop algorithm with ranging information. No synchronization failure in the proposed algorithm was occurred because of less energy loss and robustness without the ranging information.
The movement of a ship is important for DBS(Direct Broadcasting Satellite) Receiving Antenna control algorithm design on shipboard. Especially, turning of ship is essential factor to affect the angle change of azimuth and elevation. Therefore, to track the satellite stably, we need the tracking method considering turning rate of ship. In this paper, we propose an effective satellite tracking algorithm for DBS receiving antenna on shipboard. In the proposed method, when a ship is turned, it selects one of the Multi tracking modes - Normal mode, Low speed mode, Middle speed mode and High speed mode - according as turning rate to be calculated by using Gyro sensor.
This paper proposes a tracking algorithm for receiving satellite signal. Tracking algorithm uses the angular velocity of vehicle and the slope of received satellite signal for searching the maximum level of signal. The tracking algorithm is composed of two parts. One is the routine to maintain the acceptable signal in spite of the variation of angular velocity. The other is the fine tuning routine to search the maximum signal level by giving the weight factors to the slope of signal. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient and stable.

The 2nd KOrea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT -2) has been developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) since 2000. Multi Spectral Camera (MSC) is the payload for KOMPSAT -2, which will provide the observation imagery around Korean peninsula with high resolution. KOMPSAT-2 has adopted X-band Tracking System (XTS) for transmitting earth observation data to ground station. For this, data which describes and controls the pre-defined motion of each on-board X-Band antenna in XTS, must be transmitted to the spacecraft as S-Band command and it is called as Tracking Parameter Files (TPF). In this paper, the result of the development of TPF Generation S/W for KOMPSAT-2 X-Band Antenna Motion Control.
