This paper designs a software signal generator for the new GPS L2 civil signal. The CM/CL code and the message structure of L2CS described in GPS ICD PPIRN-200C-007 are used in designing the signal generator. The output of the GPS signal generator is designed as the sampled IF data with the sampling frequency 5.7MHz and stored in the binary data format. By analyzing both the spectrum characteristics of the output signal and the correlation properties of the CM/CL code, the validation of the designed GPS signal generator is shown. It should be mentioned that the modeling of the GPS satellite constellation and the error sources remains for implementing the software space segment of GPS.

The major reason that reduces the performance of satellite communication channels is known as the nonlinearities of high power amplifiers(HPA's) which are usually modeled by memoryless nonlinear systems, in the channels. This paper proposes a nonlinear adaptive predistorter, which predistorts the input symbols such that the symbol passing through the nonlinear HPA preserves the desired constellation, and derives the region of convergence for the predistorter. The predistorter has capability of coping adaptively with any time-varying environment such as changes of operating points if HPA since the coefficients of the predistorter which has a form of truncated Tayler series are obtained by recursive optimization procedure utilizing QAM data sequence directely. Simulation results show that the proposed one with 16 QAM input has better performance than the conventional fixed predistorter with the same input.

A number of navigation improvements are envisaged : Differential GPS - WAAS, LAAS, and Performance Based Navigation. The GPS receiver verifies the integrity(usability) of the signals received from the GPS constellation through a process called receiver autonomous integrity monitoring(RAIM) to determine if a satellite is providing corrupted information. This paper describe the RAIM function and Performance-Based Navigation implementation of Mission Equipment Package(MEP) for Korean Utility Helicopter.

GPS is the global Navigation Satellite System which is developed by the United States Department of Defense as an abbreviation of the Global Positioning System. The GPS uses a constellation of 24 Medium Earth Orbit satellites that transmit precise microwave signals, that enable GPS receivers to determine their location, speed, direction, and time. Following, the shooting down of Korean Air Lines Flight 007 in 1983. President Ronald Reagan issued a directive making the system available free for civilian use as a common good. Since then, GPS has become a widely used aid to navigation worldwide, and a useful tool for map-making, land surveying, commerce, scientific uses, and hobbies such as geocaching. GPS also provides a precise time reference used in many applications including scientific study of earthquakes, and synchronization of telecommunications networks.
Radio occultation (RO) technique has been used in planetary science since 1960s. When signal goes through atmosphere, it is refracted due to the gradient of atmospheric refractivity. In 1995, the first low earth orbit (LEO) satellite, MicroLab-1, was launched to conduct RO mission. It receives the signal from global positioning system (GPS) satellites. After MicroLab-1, other RO missions, such as CHAMP, SAC-C, and GRACE, are executed in several years later. In 2006, Taiwan launched six LEO satellites for RO mission. The mission name is Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere and Climate (COSMIC). Under some abnormal situations, multipath and strong fluctuation in phase and amplitude of the signal appear in moist troposphere. Therefore, open loop (OL) technique has been applied to replace traditional phase lock loop (PLL) technique. In this paper, we will summarize the retrieval processing procedure and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of OL technique.
KAFASAT is a CubeSat which has a high level mission of testing the possibility of establishing the LEO satellite constellation providing the role of communication nodes and quasi-realtime image recognition of battlefield in accordance with the aspect of future-war-environment. The high level mission is developed using the Pugh selection method, which is one of system engineering tools. In order to accomplish the high level mission objectives and deduce engineering level requirements, system engineering tools such as Analytic Hierarchy Process and Quality Function Deployment are used. The subsystem synthesis in the context of system engineering process is done using a developed integrated design environment. The paper also includes the conceptual design results of the KAFASAT, which can be used as a baseline for upcoming preliminary design.
For the monitoring of structures, it is desirable for the measurement system to deliver equal precision in all components. When using GPS the accuracy, availability, reliability and integrity of the position solutions is very dependent on the number and geometric distribution of the available satellites. Therefore the positioning precision is not the same in all there component, and large variations (in positioning) precision can be expected during a 24-hour period. This situation becomes worse when the line-of-sight to GPS satellites becomes obstructed, such as in urban environments. Pseudolites can be sed to augment GPS and improve a geometrically weak satellite constellation. The use of pseudolites as supplement(s) of GPS for the movement measurement of bridges is demonstrated in this paper. It is shown that pseudollites can improve the vertical position components.
Since SBAS provides users with GNSS orbit, clock, and ionospheric corrections and integrity, the more precise positioning is possible. As the SBAS service area is expanded due to the development of the SBAS and the installation of the additional ground stations, there is a region where two or more SBAS messages can be received. However, the research on multi-constellation SBAS selection method has not carried out. In this study, we compared the result of positioning accuracy after applying the SBAS correction selected by using WAAS priority, EGNOS priority, or error covariance comparison method to LEO satellites in the regions where WAAS and EGNOS signals are transmitted simultaneously. When using WAAS priority method, 3D orbit error is smallest at 2.57 m. The covariance comparison method is outperform at the center of the overlap region far from each WAAS and EGNOS stations. In the eastern region near the EGNOS stations, the 3D orbit errors using EGNOS priority method is 8% smaller than the errors using the WAAS priority method.

GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Position Accuracy depends on pseudo-range measurement and DOP (Dilution Of Precision) which indicates about navigation satellite geometry. Pseudo-Range has many error sources such as satellite clock, orbit, ionosphere, troposphere, multipath and so on. For the improvement of the accuracy, user can use corrected pseudo-range in DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System), which is one of the relative positioning methods. But, stationary station is needed in relative positioning. In case of DOP, Signal reception environment is important. If receiver sets in the center of city, it could be interrupted reception by buildings. This environment leads to decrease the number of visible satellites and to increase DOP. This paper proposes the concept of GNSS positioning with virtual satellites which have usable VRM (Virtual Range Measurement). Via virtual satellites and VRM, users could get an accurate position. Especially referred virtual satellites constellation has an effect on vertical error.
