  • For agricultural water management, it is essential to establish the digital infrastructure data such as agricultural watershed, irrigated area and canal network in rural areas. Approximately 70,000 irrigation facilities in agricultural watershed, including reservoirs, pumping and draining stations, weirs, and tube wells have been installed in South Korea to enable the efficient management of agricultural water. The total length of irrigation and drainage canal network, important components of agricultural water supply, is 184,000 km. Major problem faced by irrigation facilities management is that these facilities are spread over an irrigated area at a low density and are difficult to access. In addition, the management of irrigation facilities suffers from missing or errors of spatial information and acquisition of limited range of data through direct survey. Therefore, it is necessary to establish and redefine accurate identification of irrigated areas and canal network using up-to-date high resolution images. In this study, previous existing data such as RIMS (Rural Infrastructure Management System), smart farm map, and land cover map were used to redefine irrigated area and canal network based on appropriate image data using satellite imagery, aerial imagery, and drone imagery. The results of the building the digital infrastructure in rural areas are expected to be utilized for efficient water allocation and planning, such as identifying areas of water shortage and monitoring spatiotemporal distribution of water supply by irrigated areas and irrigation canal network.

  • There are several big data-driven advanced research activities such as meteorological climate information, high energy physics, astronomy research, satellite information data, and genomic research data on KREONET. Since the performance degradation occurs in the environment with the existing network security equipment, methods for preventing the performance degradation on the high-performance research-only network and for high-speed research collaboration are being studied. In addition, the recent issue of quantum computers has been a threat to security using the existing encryption system. In this paper, we construct quantum cryptography-based communication network through environment construction and high-performance transmission test that build physical security through quantum cryptography-based communication network in end-to-end high-speed research network. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect on network performance when performing physical encryption and to use it as basic data for constructing high-performance research collaboration network.

  • The TX/RX broadband L-type circular polarization antenna using LTCC(Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) for satellite communication at K, Ka band(20~21 GHz/30~31 GHz) has been presented. This antenna has been analyzed in compensation for LTCC with relative permittivity 5.2 and could have been integrated with RF component. Also antennas on LTCC enable :o reduce loss of RF system due to integrate with RF circuits and to light weight, and thus, generally one can reduce size of the RF system. As the geometry of this antenna presented is made simple by L type of monopole antenna, it is easily manufactured by LTCC progress and enables to reduce loss.

  • In this paper, we propose an installation approach for Naval Combat Management System(CMS) software that identifies potential data anomalies during installation. With the popularization of wireless communication methods, such as Low Earth Orbit(LEO) satellite communications, various utilization methods using wireless networks are being discussed in CMS. One of these methods includes the use of wireless network communications for installation, which is expected to enhance the real-time performance of the CMS. However, wireless networks are relatively more vulnerable to security threats compared to wired networks, necessitating additional security measures. This paper presents a method where files are transmitted to multiple nodes using encryption, and after the installation of the files, a validity check is performed to determine if there has been any tampering or alteration during transmission, ensuring proper installation. The feasibility of applying the proposed method to Naval Combat Systems is demonstrated by evaluating transmission performance, security, and stability, and based on these evaluations, results sufficient for application to CMS have been derived.

  • In this study, we analyzed the effect of corn growth on the radar backscattering coefficient. At first, we measured the backscattering coefficients of various corn fields using a polarimetric scatterometer system. The backscattering coefficients of the corn fields were also computed using the 1st-order VRT(Vector Radiative Transfer) model with field-measured input parameters. Then, we analyzed the experimental and numerical backscattering coefficients of corn fields. As a result, we found that the backscatter from an underlying soil layer is dominant for early growing stage. On the other hand, for vegetative stage with a higher LAI(Leaf-Area-Index), the backscatter from vegetation canopy becomes dominant, and its backscattering coefficients increase as incidence angle increases because of the effect of leaf angle distribution. It was also found that the estimated backscattering coefficients agree quite well with the field-measured radar backscattering coefficients with an RMSE(Root Mean Square Error) of 1.32 dB for VV-polarization and 0.99 dB for HH-polarization. Finally, we compared the backscattering characteristics of vegetation and soil layers with various LAI values.

  • To enable the efficient operation of ITS, it is necessary to collect location data for vehicles on the road. In the case of futuristic transportation systems like ubiquitous transportation and smart highway, a method of data collection that is advanced enough to incorporate road lane recognition is required. To meet this requirement, technology based on radio frequency identification (RFID) has been researched. However, RFID may fail to yield accurate location information during high-speed driving because of the time required for communication between the tag and the reader. Moreover, installing tags across all roads necessarily incurs an enormous cost. One cost-saving alternative currently being researched is to utilize GNSS (global navigation satellite system) carrierbased location information where available. For lane recognition using GNSS, a precise digital map for determining vehicle position by lane is needed in addition to the carrier-based GNSS location data. A "precise digital map" is a map containing the location information of each road lane to enable lane recognition. At present, precise digital maps are being created for lane recognition experiments by measuring the lanes in the test area. However, such work is being carried out through comparison with vehicle driving information, without definitions being established for detailed performance specifications. Therefore, this study analyzes the performance requirements of a precise digital map capable of lane recognition based on the accuracy of GNSS location information and the accuracy of the precise digital map. To analyze the performance of the precise digital map, simulations are carried out. The results show that to have high performance of this system, we need under 0.5m accuracy of the precise digital map.

  • Synthetic Aperture Radars(SAR) are used mainly for high-resolution imaging of the terrain. This paper describes the $16{\times}16$ array antenna designed for an X-band, automobile-based SAR(AutoSAR) system. This antenna has the structure of several layers such as radome, radiators, slots, feed network, and honeycomb cores. Each layer is adhesively bonded to meet different combination of structural and electrical design requirements. Using the Strip-Slot-Foam-Inverted-Patch(SSFIP) structure and honeycomb cores, a wide bandwidth and a structural hardness were achieved. Measurement results were compared with simulation results. It was observed that this antenna had a bandwidth of 1.7 GHz, side-lobe levels of less than -20 dB, half-power beamwidth of $5^{\circ}$ and $5^{\circ}$, and gains of 25.0 dBi. The observed results show that the designed array antenna will be applicable to the wideband SAR system.

  • Gregorian offset dual-shaped reflector antennas have been widely used in the satellite communication systems for their high gain and low sidelobe characteristics. However, in this paper, it is designed as the CATR(Compact Antenna Test Range) reflector system, and its near-field characteristics are investigated. The CATR facility needs to provide an uniform plane wave with the minimum amplitude and phase ripple and the low cross polarization to the test region. Therefore, the reflector near-field patterns are calculated and presented with the variations of the aperture power distribution, the feed horn pattern, and the distance from the aperture to the test zone. Also, the offset dual-shaped reflector is fabricated at 30 GHz, and its near-field patterns are measured. The measured results are in good agreement with the calculated results. From theses results, we confirm that the designed offset dual-shaped reflector can be used as the reflector system for the compact antenna test range.

  • It is well known that GPS cannot provide positioning results if sufficient number of visible satellites are not available. To overcome this weak point, attentions have been recently moved to hybrid positioning methods that augments GPS with other sensors. As an extension of hybrid positiong methods, this paper proposes a new method that combines GPS and vision sensor to improve availability and accuracy of land vehicle positioning. The proposed method does not require any external map information and can provide position solutions if more than 2 navigation satellites are visible. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, an experiment result with real measurements is provided and a result shows that accumulated error of n-axis is almost 2.5meters and that of e-axis is almost 3meters in test section.
