  • Actual conditions of current shroud are as follows. 1. The kinds of shroud in formal funeral cer-emonies were more variable than infor-mal ceremonies. 2. The cloths of the shround were all Myongchu or all Sambe inside and outside or the inside was Sambe and the outside was Myongchu. The color was light color center upon the white color and black Kongtan was used mostly in Myokmok. 3. Terms of the shroud were different in each region. 4. The kinds of recommended men's shroud were Ch ksam, Ch kori, Naeko, Ko, Torumaki, Topo, Topotae, Mal, Myokmok, Aksu, Ch'im, Ch' nkum, Chiyok, Ryomp'o, Soryomkum, Haengch n, Onang, Tae, Taennim, Pokk n, Kwatu, tec. • A numerical model was developed for simulating a three-dimensional multilayer hydrodynamic and thermodynamic model in domains with irregular bottom topography. The model was designed for examining the interactions between flow and topography. The model was based on the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and was solved using the fractional step method, which combines the finite difference method in the horizontal plane and the finite element method in the vertical plane. The numerical techniques were described and the model test and application were presented. For the model application to the northern part of Ariake Sea, the hydrodynamic and thermodynamic results were predicted. The numerically predicted amplitudes and phase angles were well consistent with the field observations.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the Mourning Culture. In this study, methods such as field work, depth interviews and open-ended descriptions were employed to interpret their mourning culture. The results are as follows. This study classifies Mourning Culture by its filial piety, shroud, mourning garments and cremation. The death in the mourning have relation to filial piety. People began preparing their shroud after their 70th birthday anniversary. To keep prepared shroud naphthalene and leaf tobacco were placed inside. And to keep prepared shroud a paulownia tree box was used. The cloths of the shroud were mostly all Sambe(大麻). The color was light color center upon the white color and 素色. Terms of the shroud were different in each region. The kind of the mourning garments were various. The Cognition of the cremation was considerably affirmative.

  • This research on the present state of production and circulation of boseong-sambae, based on the materials, has been collected and arranged through the survey for one you, 2003. Boseong-sambae, the hemp fabric produced at Boseong, hold 35% of nationwide production volume and 50% of circulation volume. The products of hemp include hemp fabrics, shroud, contemporary Korean dresses and other household articles. Dried hemp skin, hemp thread and hemp fabrics are traded at the fair held in every five days, mostly by direct transactions which is trusted between the producers and consumers. A bolt of boseong-sambae includes 20 ja(a Korean foot, 60cm in length) of hemp fabrics in breadth of 35cm. The price of a bolt is approximately 2∼3 hundred thousand won. They are endeavoring to revive hemp fabric that the image was lost due to the cheap and coarse fabrics woven with Chinese thread since the latter half of 1990's. The advanced countries have invested positively in this business because hemp is an environment friendly material. Thus, a strong national support is demanded in this field facing a crisis due to the inundating of coarse hemp products from China, and the aging problem of the initiate, the reason of the discontinuation of the inherited technique. Through this research understanding tire present station and the problem of hemp production, the future research will be followed expecting the Renaissance of the Korean traditional hemp fabrics.
