자동차용 파워스티어링 호스의 스웨이징 공정 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis of Swaging Process for Power Steering Hose)

  • The nonlinear finite element analysis for deformation characteristics of a power steering hose during the swaging process is performed in order to investigate the stress and the strain levels of the hose components. Power steering hose consists of components such as rubber hose, nylon, nipple and sleeve. Moreover, the numerical analysis requires the consideration of material, geometry and boundary nonlinearities. To evaluate the rubber hose strength, the measured stresses and strains are compared with tension and compression test data. Contact force is also a principal factor to examine whether rubber hose is break away from sleeve and nipple or not.

  • 자동차용 유압브레이크 고무호스 어셈블리 제품은 자동차에 장착되어 실제로 사용 중에 가압, 굽힘, 비틀림, 열하중 등의 복합적인 스트레스를 받는다. 고무호스의 재질은 EPDM(ethylene-propylene diene monomer)고무와 PVA(polyvinyl acetate)섬유 보강층 그리고 중간고무로 NR(natural rubber)고무가 사용되고 있다. 고무호스 어셈블리 제품의 내구성과 파괴 메커니즘을 조사하기 위해 굽힘과 비틀림의 반복하중 사이클 수가 10만, 20만, 30만, 40만, 최종파열 사이클 수까지 되도록 시험하였다. 유압브레이크 고무호스의 초기크랙 발생을 알아보기 위해 제품 시험편을 다이아몬드 휠커터를 이용하여 수직 절단하여 폴리싱한 후 광학현미경과 주사형 전자현미경(SEM)으로 단면을 관찰하였다. 40만 사이클의 피로하중을 받은 시험편을 보면 외면고무와 PVA섬유 사이의 계면을 따라 길이 1mm의 층간분리가 일어났으며, 이러한 손상은 외면고무의 표피층으로 균열을 진전시켜 고무호스를 최종적으로 찢어지게 하는 것이다.

  • Rubber hoses for automobile radiators are apt to be degraded and thus failed due to the influence of contacting stresses of air and coolant liquid under thermal and mechanical loadings. The aging behaviors of the skin part of the hoses due to thermo-oxidative and electro-chemical stresses were experimentally analyzed. Through the thermo-oxidative aging test, it was shown that the surface hardness IRHD(International Rubber Hardness Degrees) of the rubber increased with a considerable reduction of failure strain as the aging time and temperature increased. On account of the penetration of coolant liquid into the skin part influenced by the electro-chemical degradation(ECD) test the weight of the rubber hose increased, whereas their failure strain and IRHD hardness decreased. The hardness of the hose in the side of the negative pole was the most deteriorated at the test site of the hose skin just below the coolant surface.

  • The automotive air conditioning hose is used for connecting the components of air conditioner in a vehicle. The hose is usually manufactured by the swaging process to connect the rubber hose with the metal fitting at the end of the hose. The swaging process leads to various stress and strain configurations in the hose, which give a critical effect on the hose performance. In this paper, the deformation characteristics of an air-conditioning hose during the swaging process were analyzed using the nonlinear finite element method. Especially the rubber layers, which are contacted with the metal fittings, were divided with finer mesh density than the reinforcement braids to increase the solution accuracy. The material properties were obtained from experimental data, and the contact conditions were used in consideration of the real manufacturing process.

  • The power steering hose is a kind of high-pressure hose with reinforced braids in rubber material. It is usually manufactured through the swaging process. In this paper, the deformation characteristics of a power steering hose during the swaging process were analyzed using the nonlinear finite element method. The material properties were obtained on experiments, and the contact conditions were used in consideration of real manufacturing process. Investigations were focused on the stress and strain values of the hose and meta] components at the maximum jaw stroke and at the completion of the process. Especially, the results of inner rubber component were interpreted in detail, because of its important role in the hose efficiency.

FKM 고무를 내층재료로 한 연료호스의 가스 투과성 연구 (Gas Permeation Study of Fuel Hose Composed as Inner Material of FKM Rubber)

  • 국제 환경규제에 적합한 자동차용 연료 호스를 개발하기 위하여, 배합조건을 달리한 FKM 고무재료를 내층재료로 하였을 경우, 기본물성을 비롯한 내열성, 내유성, 내연료성 및 투과성을 측정하고 연료 호스재료로서의 적합성을 조사하였다. 불소 함량이 증가함에 따라 불소 고무재료는 기본물성, 내열성, 내유성 및 내연료성의 증가를 보였으며, 66%, 69%, 71% FKM 혼합물에서 카본의 양을 20 phr로 하였을 때 연료 호스의 규격을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 이소옥탄과 톨루엔 그리고 가솔린과 메탄올을 혼합한 연료유로써 측정한 NBR 고무와 FKM 고무의 투과성에서 FKM 고무의 경우, 불소의 함량에 따라서 미세한 투과량의 차가 나타났으나 NBR 고무보다는 투과성이 매우 우수하였다. 또한 연료유의 성분비를 달리했을 때도 FKM 고무의 투과성에는 거의 영향이 없었으며, 투과성 실험을 거친 69% FKM 고무재료의 열적 특성에도 변화가 없었다.

  • We considered an approach in terms of materials for improvement of insulation performance of vehicle rubber hoses. Ethylene propylene rubber(EPDM) for heater hoses in cooling system and acrylic rubber(AR) for intercooler hose in intake system were chosen for mixing for the vibration and noise performance. We modified EPDM and AR through changing compound of base polymer, reinforcement fillers and additives. Dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA) was used to measure viscoelastic properties such as shear modulus and loss factor($tan{\delta}$). Vehicle acceleration test was also conducted to observe indoor changes in insulation performance of hoses.

  • A concrete docking hose of pump car's boom pipe line have been used in many construction sites. They are long structures with continuous cornering, similar to a trunk of the elephant, characterized by a very high pressure resistance of 20MPa. They need flexible materials and structure in order to move the hose smoothy. But commercial concrete hose is hard to handle and heavy owing to adaption of steel reinforcement. In this study, it is tried an experimental approach to the characteristic of inner rubber layer and abrasion resistance. Also, we are investigated the bursting pressure according to the reinforcement of the hose and propose the usefulness of the hose reinforced with high strengthened aramid fiber.

  • 다양한 기계적 거동을 관찰할 때 예상되는 역효과의 측정 방법을 연구하는 것이 필수적이고, 고무 호스, 알루미늄 sleeve와 pipe에 의해 만들어진 Automotive Air-Conditioner-Hose의 응력과 변형 특성을 측정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 자동차에 있어 에어컨 냉매 순환에 중요한 역할을 하는 Automotive Air-Conditioner-Hose의 응력과 변형 특성을 유한요소법을 이용하여 분석하였다.

가속 열 노화시험을 이용한 침매터널용 고무 씰 소재의 사용수명 예측 (Service life prediction of rubber seal materials for immersion tunnel by accelerated thermal degradation tests)

  • This paper considers accelerated thermal degradation tests which are performed for rubber seal materials used for undersea tunnels constructed by immersion method. Three types of rubber seals are tested; rubber expansion seal, omega seal, and shock absorber hose. Main ingredient of rubber expansion seal is EPDM(Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) and that of both omega seal and shock absorber hose is SBR(Styrene Butadiene Rubber). The accelerated stress is temperature and an Arrhenius model is introduced to describe the relationship between the lifetime and the stress. From the accelerated degradation tests, dominant failure mode of the rubber seals is found to be the loss of elongation. The lifetime distribution and the service life of the rubber seals at use condition are estimated from the test results. The acceleration factor for three types of rubber seals are also investigated.
