Alexithymia represents deficits in the cognitive processing and regulation of emotions. It is observed in many cases of psychosomatic disease, anorexia nervosa, panic disorder, depression etc. Many studies have shown that alexithymia is associated with maladaptive styles of emotion regulation, low emotional intelligence, interhemispheric transfer deficit, and reduced rapid eye movement density. Psychotherapies that enhance emotional awareness may be effective in alleviating the difficulties of alexithymic individuals. Aexithymia is useful for constructing the role of personality and emotions in the pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders. It may serve as a bridge between neurobiology and psychology. We review recent alexithymia theory and research and their implications for treatment of psychosomatic disorders.

All living beings on earth have an important mechanism of 24-h periodicity, which controls their physiology, metabolism, and behavior. In humans, 24-h periodicity is regulated by the superchiasmatic nucleus (SCN) through external and environmental cues. Peripheral organs demonstrate circadian rhythms and circadian clock functions, and these are also observed in cultured cell lines. Every cell contains a CLOCK: BMAL1 loop for the generation of circadian rhythms. In this review, we focused on cell autonomous circadian rhythms in immune cells, the inflammatory diseases caused by disruption of circadian rhythms in hormones, and the role of clock genes in inflammatory diseases.

In this study of the influence of marital conflict and of children's temperament and emotion regulation on problem behavior, 194 mothers of 3- to 5-year-old children responded to the O'Leary- Poter Scale(1980), the Emotionality, Activity and Shyness scale(Buss & Plomin, 1984) and the Emotion Regulation Checklist(Shields & Cicchetti, 1997); teachers rated children's behavior on the Problem Behavior Questionnaire(Behar & Stringfield, 1974). Data were analyzed by independent t-tests, correlations, and multiple regressions. Results demonstrated that shyness, activity, and emotion regulation had direct effects on hostile-aggressive behaviors. Shy temperament had a direct effect on fearful-anxious behavior. Both marital conflict and temperament influenced hostile-aggressive behaviors indirectly through emotion regulation, implying a crucial role of emotion regulation in preschoolers' social development.

This study examined whether game usage would alleviate players' aggressive tendencies. Other game-related variables, psychological care factors (adaptive game use tendency, game self-efficacy, and life self-efficacy), and psychological problem factors (loneliness and depression) were controlled for determination of the effect. We drew on the catharsis theory from therapeutic psychology literature to explain how game usage contributes to the alleviation of aggressive tendencies. Over two weeks data were collected from 918 participants online. The results indicated that gaming activity had a significant effect on aggression. Higher levels of game and life self-efficacy, as well as adaptive game use tendencies, decreased the degree of aggression. Likewise, higher levels of loneliness and depression reduced the degree of aggression. Results and implications are discussed.

Many picture books are published every year. Book reviews can play an important role in building knowledge about newly published book. This study analyzed data the coverage and content of reviews in journals with a view to helping librarians and parents become more aware of content and coverage of reviews for picture books. Variations of bibliographic and ordering information appeared among all journals. Most reviews typically included a plot summary and a general statement about the illustrations. Overall, journals provided more comments on literary elements than artistic elements. However, reviews provided insufficient information about the background of reviewers. Physical description of the books appeared in 8.81 % of the sample.

It is widely recommended that teachers should actively mediate students' engagement with tools such as manipulative materials. This paper is to help to parse classroom life so that both social and psychological aspects are accounted for and coordinated. Building on the theory of affordances from ecological psychology and the activity theory from sociocultural perspectives, the main strategy of this paper is to view manipulative materials as simultaneously participating in social and psychological activity systems. Within these activity systems it is charted how both mathematical affordances related to the structure of mathematical concepts and ecological affordances related to socially situated classroom practices need to be considered by teachers in effective mediation of mathematical manipulatives. This paper has three major sections. The first section develops a theoretical extension of Gibson's theory of affordances from natural to social environments. The second section introduces mathematical and ecological affordances using empirical data from a grade two elementary school classroom. The third section illustrates the need of coordinating the two affordances as embedded in different activity systems.

Synectics is one of several techniques used to enhance brainstorming by taking a more active role and introducing metaphor and structure into the process. It is unclear at what level of specificity this should be formulated as a pattern. This thesis reviews recent computational as well as experimental work on analogical reasoning based on synectics. New results regarding information processing of analogical reasoning stages, major computational models and recent attempts to compare these models are reviewed. Computational models are also discussed in the computational as well as cognitive psychology perspectives. Future directions in analogical reasoning research are proposed. The following import is the need to accommodate the typology and normal assessment in the concrete circumstances where actual reasoning and problem solving take place. In order to get to this end, we used computational models by Thagard who take the stand of ‘Computational Philosophy of Science’, which assumes ‘Weak AI’ to explicate what constitute the very pecularity of Analogical Reasoning.

The purpose of this study was to examine the path model of child's sex, temperament, maternal parenting behavior, and child's emotion regulation on child social behaviors. The subjects were 286 elementary school children. Data were gathered through questionnaires reported by mothers and teachers. Path analysis revealed that (1) mother's overprotective or coercive parenting behaviors effected neither child's emotion regulation nor social behaviors (2) child's sex and activity level effected child's aggression both directly and indirectly through child's emotion regulation (3) child's 'activity level' and 'avoidance' temperament effected child's social withdrawal both directly and indirectly through child' emotion regulation. Findings underscore the role of emotion regulation as a mediator in predicting child aggression and social withdrawal.

영화음악은 영화 속 등장인물의 심리상태를 나타내거나 암시하는 역할을 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 스티븐 달드리(Stephen Daldry)감독의 영화 "디 아워스"에 나오는 등장인물의 심리변화에 따라 음악이 변화하는 과정을 제시한다. 이것에 입각하여 심리상태에 따른 음악적 요소는 각각의 인물에게 나타나는 우울증상이 음악적 요소의 상징적 방법으로 구성 가능하다는 것을 입증한다.

Consumers exposed to aesthetic brands can not only experience sensory pleasure but also lead to strong customer loyalty. Furthermore, aesthetic brands can expect to lead to the overall experience of the brand. They include the brand's sensory, emotional, behavioral and intellectual experience. Since aesthetic brands related to the sensory representation of customers, consumers exposed to aesthetic brands can expect to have a meaningful impact on the overall experience of the brand. The study will select aesthetic brands that distributed in Korea and then compare the aesthetic characteristics of each brand. It also seeks to verify the brand attractiveness, consistency, prominence and influence of brand motifs on the brand's sensual, emotional, behavioral and intellectual experience. To verify the influence between variables proposed in this study, we would like to conduct a multiple regression analysis. SAS 9.4 used to verify the hypotheses proposed in this study. Cronbach's α measure to verify reliability of each measurement item. In particular, brand attractiveness and brand motif can verify empirically to confirm that they play an important role in inducing brand experience.
