From the result of precise field investigation and stability examination for the rock slope, following results were acquired. 1. The weathering rock itself, existing fault zone and underground water complexly effect cut slope so that plane destruction may appear by fault zone. 2. The reinforcement force was decided by the result of limit equilibrium. 3. For rock cut slope, the Rock Bolt was judged as the most proper method to the cut slope as comparing/analyzing Rock Anchor, Rock Bolt and method after relaxing the slope.
Usually, cut-slope is the term that call rock slope. Therefore, the cause of instability of cut-slope is influenced generally in lithological and structure geological qualities including weathering disintegration. Through the several case studies, we could confirm that stabilization countermeasure also should be based in geological properties.

From the result of precise field investigation and stability examination for the cut slope, following results were acquired. 1. The cause of the cut slope collapse seems that it came from complex actions such as the weathering rock itself, existing fault zone and crack from excessive blasting. 2. As a result of analysis, it is appeared that the cut slope can be in danger of plane destruction. 3. The reinforcement force is decided by the result of limit equilibrium analysis. 4. For reinforcement the method after relaxing the slope was judged as the most proper method to the cut slope as comparing/analyzing Rock Anchor, Rock Bolt and method after relaxing the slope.

Stability of cut-slope is considered to have a deep relationship with rock types since rock has its own engineering and geological characteristic such as shear strength, durability, weathering profile, geological structures. Therefore, analysis of geological and engineering characterisics of rock mass is essential for the evaluation of rock slope stability This paper introduces the statistical data of slope failure cases which was collected from highway slopes constructed in sedimentary rock mainly of shale in Ky ng-sang Basin. Primary failure feature in this area is planar failure along the bedding regardless of slope geometry. Even a disasterous slope failure case due to the thick clay layer between the beddings was reported. Failures and rock fall were reported to ocurred frequently after the completion of cutting due to the weathering, so long-term slope stability should be considered as a important factors in design.

From the result of precise field investigation and stability analysis for the cut slope, following results were acquired. 1. The cause of the collapse of cut slope came from circle sliding collapse by fault zone which remained inner weathering zone. 2. The existing destructed soil and rock can be removed by reinforcement. And to prevent the additional destruction, it is judged that applying the method after relaxing the slope would be reasonable. 3. To make cut slope stable, soft rock layer should be done cutting 1:1.5 and 1:2.0 ~ 1:2.5 for weathered rock and soil layer. 4. Heavy water leakage section should be applied horizontal drain method so that water pressure should not act to the cut slope.
A behavior of ridge-cut rock slope had been monitored by installing inclinometers and regional slope movement toward rear side of cut face was detected. To delineate the governing factors of slope behavior, especially backward slip of ridge-cut slope, petrographic characteristics of rock cores obtained from four drilled boreholes had been examined. BIPS images inside boreholes had been acquired and structural characteristics of slope rock had been studied. Mechanical properties of discontinuity planes distributed in the drilled core had been measured and the shear strength of coal seam imbedded-discontinuity planes also had been obtained by performing the direct shear test. Monitoring results of slope behavior had been analyzed by comprehensibly considering both the mechanical and structural characteristics of slope rock and coal seam-imbedded discontinuity planes, and the potential governance of coal seam and clay minerals embedded in the joint plane on the regional slope behavior has been also identified.

Profiles of discontinuities through scanline method were investigated for the analysis of rock slope stability. Lower hemispheric projection method was used to evaluate the geometric stability and failure potential of these discontinuities. Also, safety factor was evaluated for the discontinuities of failure potential using by limit equilibrium analysis. Then, displacements of rock block due to the discontinuities were displayed by using the program UDEC(Universal Distinct Element Code) which applied the Distinct Element Method. When we determine the cut-slope in design, the characteristics of discontinuities is not represented only by strength parameters of intact rock. Therefore it is more reasonable method in assuring stability that first, construction would be preceded by the cut-slope of preliminary design, and then, cut-slope would be redetermined by elaborate site investigation in processing construction.

The purpose of this case study is cut-slope stability in pyroclastic-rock area. Pyroclastic-rock is very vulerable by Chemical and physical weathering. And risk increase of Pyroclastic-rock proportional to exposure time. This case of cut-slope located in Jeollabuk-do Jinan-gun and reserch order is topography character research, geological character research, field survey, measure method presentation.

This paper describes the effect of acid rock drainage(ARD) produced from the cut slope on the slope structures. Acid rock drainage is originated from a rock quarry located in coal mine zone and mineralization belt of Chosen Supergroup and Ogcheon group, andesite with the pyrite, and acid sulfate soils of Tertiary in Korea. The cut slope, where acid rock drainage comes out, almost has been constructed by shotcrete and planting works. According to the field observation results, in most cases, the acid rock drainage has an adverse effect on slope structures. The shotcrete, anchors and rock bolts produced corrosive action, and bad germination and growth diseases of covering plants of the slope planting construction due to ARD.
Many failures in cut slopes occur during and following road construction. Failures are caused, in part, by a lack of understanding of the characteristics of rock mass including its geologic structure. The stability of rock slopes is closely related to factors that include the type of rock, development of geological structures, weathering, characteristics of rock, and the shape of the geologic features. Therefore, it is very important to consider these characteristics of rock mass in the evaluation of rock slope stability. In spite of investigation from many slope failures, these information data were not systematically stored and not efficiently utilized. In this study, a Database system named DB/SLOPE was developed using Oracle for systematic management of cut slopes. The developed database system can be used to estimate of slope stability and to predict of slope failure.
