In this study, tensile strength and modulus were evaluated for a filament wound ring specimen by split disk test and compared with the theoretical values obtained by the rule of mixtures. The circumferentially wound ring specimens were prepared from 4 types of material systems. The results showed that the measured strengths of the composite systems were considerably lower than the theoretical values due to the local bending stresses around the split disk edges. for the measurement of elastic moduli of the filament wound ring specimens, the effect of friction on the strain of the ring must be taken into account. But the effect of friction between the split disk fixture and the ring specimen can be eliminated by averaging the moduli for loading and unloading state with maintaining the same crosshead rates. The measured elastic moduli of ring specimens showed very good agreement with the theoretical values.
This paper treated the design and characteristics of high speed motor/generator with ring wound stator for the flywheel energy storage system. The most important advantages of the ring-wound motor is the slotless stator, i.e. no cogging torque, no space harmonic of air-gap flux density, etc. Because of these advantages, ring wound type motor is suitable to operate at the high speed.

Filament winding process is a comparatively simple operation in which continuous reinforcements in the form of roving are wound over a rotating mandrel. And now it is well established as a versatile method for storage tanks and pipe for the chemical and other industries. In this study, tensile strength of a filament wound ring specimens were evaluated by split disk test fixture and dress disk test fixture. The results obtained from experiments were compared with the theoretical values obtained by the rule of mixture. And the purpose of this paper is to suggest an appropriate test method for the evaluation of tensile properties of filament wound structures. The tensile strength of a ring specimens tested by the dress disk test showed better agreement with the theoretical values than of a ring specimen tested by the split disk test because the stress concentration in edges of s split disk test fixture is more severe than the that of dress disk test fixture. The results showed that the tensile strength of a ring specimen was influenced by the geometry of test fixture, the continuity of fibers, fiber-tension, fiber-end and stress concentration in specimen.

Electro-mechanical battery (EMB) consists of a high-speed fly wheel with an integral motor/ generator suspended on magnetic bearings and in an evacuated housing. Permanent magnet (PM) machines as the EMB motor/ generator are a popular choice, since there are no excitation losses which means substantial increase in the efficiency. In this paper we present the comparison of conventional slotted and slotless ring-wound types, aimed at EMB and other high-speed drives. We firstly discuss the topology of each machine for this particular application. these machines are primarily designed as 1kW two-pole PM generator with the rated speed of 40000 rpm. the motoring torque of 0.51 Nm has to be enough to accelerate the flywheel to the rated speed. We then present the comparison of the open-circuit field, the armature reaction field and winding inductance. next we analyze the induced voltage and the developed torque per unit stack length and unit weight of different machines. Finally, we estimate and compare the losses and the efficiency at motoring and generating modes.
ABA-type block copolymers composed of poly(L-leucine)(PLL) as the A component and poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) as the B component were synthesized by ring-opening polymerization of L-leucine N-carboxyanhydride initiated by primary amino group located at both ends of PEG chain. A silver sulfadiazine(AgSD)-impregnated wound dressing of sponge-type was prepared by the lyophilization method. Morphological structure of this wound dressing obtained by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) was composed of a dense skin layer and a macroporous inner sponge layer. Equilibrium water content(EWC) of wound dressing was above 10%. It increased with an increased of PEO content in the block copolymer due to the hydrophilicity of PEO. AgSD release from AgSD- impregnated wound dressing in PBS buffer(pH=7.4) was dependent on PEG composition in the block copolymer. Therefore, EWC and release of AgSD can be control by PEG composition. Antibacterial capacity of AgSD-impregnated wound dressing was examined in agar plate against Pseudmonas aeruginosa and Stapplococus aruous. Cytotoxicity of the wound dressing was evaluated by studing mouse skin fibroblast(L929). From the behavior of antimicrobial releasing and the investigation of the suppression of bacterial proliferation, it was supposed that the wound dressing containing antibiotics could protect the wound surfaces from bacterial invasion to suppress the bacterial proliferation effectively. In cytotoxicity observation, cellular damage was reduced by the control led released of AgSD from the LEL sponge matrix of AgSD-medicated wound dressing. In vivo test, granulous tissue formation and wound contraction or the AgSD and DHEA impregnated wound dressing were aster than any other groups.
