We propose and experimentally demonstrate a service-aware optical transport system. The proposed service-aware optical transport system makes a flow based on service type and priority of traffic. The generated flow is mapped to a corresponding sub-${\lambda}$ for transport over an optical network. Using sub-${\lambda}$ provided by the centralized control plane, we could effectively provide quality-of-service guaranteed Ethernet service and best-effort service simultaneously in a single link. The committed information rate (CIR) traffic and best-effort traffic are assigned to different sub-${\lambda}s$. The bandwidth of the CIR traffic is guaranteed without being affected by violation traffic because the bandwidth is managed per each sub-${\lambda}$. The failure detection time and restoration time from a link failure is measured to be about 60 ${\mu}s$ and 22 ms, respectively, in the ring network. The measured restoration time is much smaller than the 50 ms industry requirement for real-time services. The fast restoration time allows the proposed service-aware optical transport system to offer high availability and reliability which is a requirement for transport networks.

Today, SIP standard (The signalling protocol for the Internet phone service) raises to be the standard technique because the expandability is high and complexity is low. It is widely investigated and actively advocated to use Si81a1 ring protocol for SIP in VoIP service. SIP service can be applied even outside the Internet phone service; instance messaging and various multimedia technology are just an example. This paper proposed an embodiment proxy server for rambling support to use JAIN SIP API. It provides standard interface for testing the Proxy server for SIP and embodiment of user agent that transfer instant massaging and voice communication.

WDM technology has been an emerging issue for the efficient use of optical links. WDM uses a number of different wavelengths that are assigned to each channel. The minimal number of optical transcievers and receivers should be used in a node to build an economic WDM transmission system without degrading system performance. Hence, the analysis of performance parameters such as throughput and delay is important to guarantee the WDM system performance. In this paper, the performance of a MAC protocol on a slotted WDM system that has a tunable transmitter(TTX), a tunable receiver(TRX), and a fixed receiver(FRX), respectively, on each node, was statistically analyzed. The computer simulation validates the performance analysis.

We demonstrate rotationally invariant space-time (ST) trellis codes with a 4-D rectangular signal constellation for data transmission over fading channels using two transmit antennas. The rotational invariance is a good property to have that may alleviate the task of the carrier phase tracking circuit in the receiver. The transmitted data stream is segmented into eight bit blocks and quadrature amplitude modulated using a 256 point 4-D signal constellation whose 2-D constituent constellation is a 16 point square constellation doubly partitioned. The 4-D signal constellation is simply the Cartesian product of the 2-D signal constellation with it-self and has 32 subsets. The partition is performed on one side into four subsets A, B, C, and D with increased minimum-squared Euclidian distance, and on the other side into four rings, where each ring includes four points of equal energy. We propose both linear and nonlinear ST trellis codes and perform simulations using an appropriate multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel model. The 4-D ST codes constructed here demonstrate about the same frame error rate (FER) performance as their 2-D counterparts, having however the added value of rotational invariance.

This poper proposes the method of the balanced-mixer realization in the X-Band frequency range by the MIC coplanar magic-tee. This magic-tee is composed with microstrip and slot, as suggested by Ronde. The characteristics of balancing and isolation in this magic-tee is more preferable to those of the rat-race or hybrid ring in the wide frequency range. So, experimentally in this paper the characteristics of the MIC balanced-mixed are obtained with the VSWR less than 1, 2(in Local and Signal Arms) and the Conversion Loss, 6 dB in that frequency range, when the mixer is designed in the 3rd order (in E-arm) and 2nd order(in H-arm) Chebyshev matching networks, and with two symmetrical Schottkey Barrier Diodes.

The standard high-availability seamless redundancy (HSR) protocol utilizes duplicated frame copies of each sent frame for zero fail over time. This means that even in cases of a node or link failure, the destination node will receive at least one copy of the sent frame, resulting in no network downtime. However, the standard HSR is mostly based on the electrical signal connection inside the node, which leads to the production of considerable latency at each node due to frame processing. Therefore, in a large scale HSR ring network, the accumulated latencies become significant and can often restrict the mission-critical real-time application of HSR. In this paper, we present a novel design for optical HSR (OHSR) that uses beam splitting/combining techniques. The proposed OHSR passes the frames directly to adjacent nodes without frame processing at each node, thereby theoretically generating no latency in any node. Various simulations for network samples, made to validate the OHSR design and its performance, show that the OHSR outperforms the standard HSR.

Rubber o-rings are produced by conventional injection molding methods. In this case, products that are not normally molded are determined to be defective. However, if images acquired during image-based reading are read as original, there is a problem of poor accuracy. We have thus learned from convolutional neural networks using adaptive binarization and Convex Hull algorithms by extracting only rubber oring parts from the original images through pre-processing. During the test process, it was confirmed that the defect detection performance of the learning method applied pre-processing was better than the standard suggested.

A variable optical attenuator with a bending-sensitive fiber (BSF) that can be used in optical networks is developed. The proposed BSF consists of inner core, outer core, center dip and cladding. The proposed BSF is also very sensitive to mechanical perturbation, such as bending and pressure, making the light propagating in the BSF easily controlled and attenuated. The fabricated fiber-type variable optical attenuator using the proposed BSF (VOAFB) consisted of the BSF in a rectangular rubber ring with a fixed bend radius (BR) in a steady state. The variable optical attenuator using the proposed BSF (VOAFB) was able to attenuate the optical power by more than about -38㏈ with the gradient -88.4[㏈$.$$cm^{-1}$ /] at (1540∼1560nm) based m adjusting the mechanical pressure applied to the upper surface of the rectangular rubber ring with the bent BSF. According to the experimental results when using the proposed VOAFB, the optical power was easily controlled by adjusting mechanical pressure and produced an insertion loss of 0.68㏈, polarization loss of 0.5㏈, and return loss of less than -60㏈.

This paper concerns the development of a knowledge-based tunnel design system within the framework of artifical neural networks(ANNs). The system is aimed at expediting a routine tunnel design works such as computation of segment lining body forces and stability analysis of selected cross section. A number of sub-modules for computation of segment lining body forces and stability analysis were developed and implemented to the system. It is shown that the ANNs trained with the results of 3D numerical analyses can be generalized with a reasonable accuracy, and that the ANN based tunnel design concept is a robust tool for tunnel design optimization. The details of the system architecture and the ANNs development are discussed in this paper.
