Atrophic alveolar ridge of maxillary anterior area is commonly observed after the extraction of teeth in patients with severely compromised periodontal disease, causing difficulties with implant placement. Successful esthetics and functional implant rehabilitation rely on sufficient bone volume, adequate bone contours, and ideal implant positioning and angulation. The present case report categorized the ridge augmentation techniques using guided bone regeneration (GBR) on the maxillary anterior site by Seibert classification. Case I patient presented for implant placement in the position of tooth #11. The alveolar ridge was considered a Seibert classification I ridge defect. Simultaneous implant placement and GBR were performed. Eight months after implantation, clinical and radiological examinations were performed. Case III patient presented with discomfort due to mobility of the upper maxillary anterior site. Due to severe destruction of alveolar bone, teeth #11 and #12 were extracted. After three months, the alveolar ridge was considered a Seibert classification III ridge defect. A GBR procedure was performed; implantation was performed 6 months later. Approximately 1-year after implantation, clinical and radiological examinations were performed. During the whole treatment period, healing was uneventful without membrane exposure, severe swelling, or infection in all cases. Radiographic and clinical examinations revealed that atrophic hard tissues and buccal bone contour were restored to the acceptable levels for implant placement and esthetic restoration. In conclusion, severely resorbed alveolar ridge of the maxillary anterior area can be reconstructed with ridge augmentation using the GBR procedure so that dental implants could be successfully placed.

Background: Transcutaneous lower eyelid approaches are associated with a risk of postoperative scarring depending on the distance between the incision line and the lower eyelid margin. The lower eyelid crease of Caucasians corresponds to a ridge-shaped fold in young Asians. However, this relationship has not been sufficiently evaluated in the latter. The authors, therefore, investigated the location of the scar and the lower eyelid crease or ridge to find the optimal location for the incision line. Methods: This study included 60 out of 139 patients who underwent inferior orbital wall reconstruction through a lower eyelid skin incision between July 2019 and June 2020. According to the location of the scar, the patients were classified into three groups: group A (≥ 2 mm above the lower eyelid crease or ridge), group B (within the lower eyelid crease or ridge to 2 mm above the lower eyelid crease or ridge), and group C (within the lower eyelid crease or ridge to 2 mm below the lower eyelid crease or ridge). At 6 or 12 months after surgery, the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) score was obtained, the distance between the lower eyelid margin and the scar (DMS) and the distance between the margins of the peripheral pupil and the lower eyelid (DMPE) were measured, and the occurrence of ectropion was evaluated. Results: Group B had the lowest POSAS score (A: 22.7 ± 8.0, B: 20.9 ± 2.4, C: 32.5 ± 4.1, p< 0.001). Linear regression analysis showed that the DMS was positively correlated with the POSAS score (p< 0.001) and that the risk of DMPE widening increased as the DMS decreased (p= 0.029). None of the patients had ectropion. Conclusion: When using the transcutaneous approach for inferior orbital wall reconstruction, the optimal incision site is within the lower eyelid crease or ridge to 2 mm above the lower eyelid crease or ridge.

In this paper, in order to realize lower cut-off frequency of the waveguide, the folded Ridge waveguide (FRWG) is suggested by alternating T-shape structure in the conventional folded waveguide with Y-shape structure. Suggested FRWG can be equivalent by the reverse Ridge waveguide. As the height of side of the FRWG is lower, the width of side is increased. Therefore, the cut-off frequency of the FRWG can be decreased more than half compared with conventional waveguide. The FRWG is designed with the length, height, and width of Y-shape structure of 40mm, 20mm, and 2mm, respectively. Designed FRWG has the cut-off frequency of the 1.996GHz. Also, the transition between the FRWG and SMA connector is designed. The transition is optimized by the capacitance of the signal line of the connector. Its result shows the VSWR under 2:1 in the band of 2.064 ~ 3.050 GHz. Suggested FRWG can be applied with miniaturization of various waveguide devices.
The Latite Ridge Latite in the East Tintic volcanic field, Utah in USA occurs as a welded ash-flow tuff, has 63.7-66 wt% $SiO_2$ on an anhydrous basis, and shows calc-alkaline affinities. The rocks fall in the trachyte field of IUGS classification. It is characterized by unusally high $K_2O$ content (5.9-7.6 wt%), relatively high equilibration temperature (950-973$^{\circ}C$), and biotites with high $TiO_2$ content (7.4-8.2wt%). Various differentiation processes were tested using the XLFRAC program to infer the origin of the Latite Ridge Latite. The results suggests that crystal fractionation from shoshonite is one possible process to generate the Latite Ridge Latite. Shoshonite of the East Tintic volcanic field was possibly formed by crystal fractionation from a subduction-related K-, Mg-rich mafic magma.

Ridge regression (RR), principal component regression (PCR) and partial least squares regression (PLS) are among popular regression methods for collinear data. While RR adds a small quantity called ridge constant to the diagonal of X'X to stabilize the matrix inversion and regression coefficients, PCR and PLS use latent variables derived from original variables to circumvent the collinearity problem. One problem of PCR and PLS is that they are very sensitive to overfitting. A new regression method is presented by combining RR and PCR and PLS, respectively, in a unified manner. It is intended to provide better predictive ability and improved stability for regression models. A real-world data from NIR spectroscopy is used to investigate the performance of the newly developed regression method.
Chemoautotrophic symbiotic bacteria of organisms inhabiting the hydrothermal vent and cold seep communities in the deep-sea were histologically examined using a transmission electron microscopy on symbionts of Calyptogena sp. A from the site east off Miyako (water depth at 1,700m), Calyptogena sp. B from the Calyptogena Site, vestimentiferan tube worm Lamellibrachia sp. A from Sagami Bay Lamellibrachia sp. B from Calyptogena Site of the Iheya Ridge, pogonophoran tube worms from Sagami Bay and Calyptogena Site of the Iheya Ridge, Bathymodiolus spp. from Sagami Bay, the Iheya Ridge and the North Fiji Basin. Based on the morphological microscopic observations, two species of Calyptogena from Miyako and the Iheya Ridge, two species of vestimentiferan tube worms from Sagami Bay and the Iheya Ridge, and pogonophoran tube worms from Sagami Bay and the Iheya Ridge observed to host sulfur-oxidizing symbiotic bacteria. The occurrence of chemosynthetic symbionts in these organisms was expected beforehand based on the ecological observations of their habitats. Other members of these groups from the world oceans, and the recent advances in the symbiosis at vents and seeps were reviewed.

In order to select the seeding machine for mechanizing cultivation of rapeseed in southern areas of Korea, three different seeding machines, ridge rotary, power tiller ridge rotary, tractor ridge rotary were used for sowing one of the high yielding rapeseed cv. Hybrid with five different seeding methods. Seeding of ridge rotary was reduced the seeding effort with 45% and yield components such as plant height, ear length, number of branches and pods, pod length and seed setting rate were higher. The seeding of ridge rotary also was showed highest seed yield. On the basis of time requirement for seeding, vegetative and yield parameters ridge rotary seeding machine was a suitable seeding machine for rapeseed cultivation at the southern area of Korea.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of $HTR^{TM}$ (hard tissue replacement, Bioplant Inc, U.S.A) polymer on short-term healing as a grafting material for alveolar ridge augmentation. A 48-year-old female presented insufficient bone height and width for the placement of implants. $HTR^{TM}$ polymer was used for ridge augmentation. Bone biopsy was harvested 8 months after the ridge augmentation procedure. $HTR^{TM}$ polymer displayed rapid bone regeneration and mature lamellar and trabecular bone redevelopment. Clinical and histologic observation from the treatment of the patient presented suggest that $HTR^{TM}$ polymer seems to be a appropriate material for alveolar ridge augmentation.

In this paper, a method for classifying fingerprint ridge lines using runlength codes is proposed. To detect feature points(minutiae) in automatic fingerprint identification system(AFIS), classification of fingerprint ridge lines are essential process. The fingerprint ridge lines are classified by run-length coding, and also the end and bifurcation regions in ridge lines are separated. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, detected feature regions including minutiae points and classified fingerprint ridge lines are shown.
Ridge regression is compared with multiple linear regression (MLR) for determination of Research Octane Number (RON) when the baseline and signal-to-noise ratio are varied. MLR analysis of near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopic data usually encounters a collinearity problem, which adversely affects long-term prediction performance. The collinearity problem can be eliminated or greatly improved by using ridge regression, which is a biased estimation method. To evaluate the robustness of each calibration, the calibration models developed by both calibration methods were used to predict RONs of gasoline spectra in which the baseline and signal-to-noise ratio were varied. The prediction results of a ridge calibration model showed more stable prediction performance as compared to that of MLR, especially when the spectral baselines were varied. . In conclusion, ridge regression is shown to be a viable method for calibration of RON with the NIR data when only a few wavelengths are available such as hand-carry device using a few diodes.
