Suspended Solids Export by the Outflowing Water from Irrigation Paddy Field during Rice Growing Season of Korea

  • This experiment was conducted in Suwon and Iksan city from 2012 to 2014 to evaluate soil erosion and nutrient loss from irrigated paddy fields during cropping period. Rainfall amount and rainfall erosivity of $EI_{30}$ were, on average, 1,026 mm and $3,922mm\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}hr^{-1}$ for the cropping period, respectively, and the rainfall event with maximum $EI_{30}$ occurred in July. Annual average of runoff was $2,508MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ in Suwon and $3,375MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ in Iksan, accounting for 36% of rainfall of the cropping period. Nutrient loss by runoff, on average, was $7.0kg\;N\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$, $1.3kg\;P\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$, and $16.6kg\;K\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$; N, P, and K loss were 5.0, 0.6, and $8.3kg\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$, respectively, in Suwon and 8.9, 1.9, and $16.7kg\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ in Iksan. Soil loss in Korean paddy rice was evaluated as $0.33MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ ranging from $0.05MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ to $0.88MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$. Amount of soil loss, however, depended on areas and year influenced by variation of rainfall amount and intensity. Interestingly, soil erosion in Iksan in 2012 was remarkably greater than those in other periods due to heavy rainfall between late May and June with soil flake dispersion right after the rice-planting season.

수도용 농약후치왕, 오트란의 작물 및 토양에서의 잔류와 분해 (Degradation and Residue of Fujione and Ortran in Korean Rice Paddy System)

  • 농약의 사용량이 급격히 증가함에 따른 농약의 자연 환경에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 농약의 안전성 평가에 관한 연구방법을 정립하기 위하여 우리나라에서 많이 쓰이고 있는 수도용농약중 살균제인 후치왕(Fujione, Isoprothiolane)과 살충제인 오트란(Ortran, Acephate)의 토양에서의 잔류성과 수도작물에의 잔류성에 대해 포장실험 및 실험실적 방법으로 조사하였다. 벼, 볏짚, 현미 및 백미에서의 농약의 잔류 또는 농약의 처리된 횟수에 따라 다르게 나타났는데 후치왕의 경우 백미중 농약 함양은 $0.07{\sim}0.09ppm$ 이었고 오트란은 $0.01{\sim}0.53ppm$이었다. 또한 후치왕의 반감기는 실험실적인 방법으로 호기조건하에서 30일, 담수조건하에서 150일인데 반해 포장에서는 약 100일로 나타났다. 오트란의 경우는 호기, 담수조건하에서 각각 $3{\sim}4$일, $13{\sim}14$일이었다.

녹비 시용이 초기 논 토양 미생물군집에 미치는 영향 (Response of Soil Microbial Communities to Applications of Green Manures in Paddy at an Early Rice-Growing Stage)

  • 논 토양에서 청보리, 자운영과 트리티케일을 시용하고 벼생육초기에 토양 미생물 생태계의 변화에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 녹비를 시용한 처리구는 관행에 비해 토양 유기물 함량은 유의적으로 증가하였으나 토양의 나트륨 함량은 유의적인 감소를 나타냈다. 내생균근균의 함량과 구성비율은 녹비 시용으로 관행 보다 유의적으로 높아졌으며 특히 청보리 처리구가 가장 높았다. 또한 토양의 그람음성 세균과 그람양성 세균의 비율과 불포화지방산과 포화지방산 함량의 비율은 청보리 처리구가 다른 처리구에 비해 유의적인 증가를 보였다. 그리고 주성분 분석에서 PC 1에 가장 큰 영향을 미친 미생물 군집은 그람음성 세균인 것으로 나타났으며 청보리 처리구는 관행과 가장 큰 차이를 나타냈다. 이러한 결과를 종합한 결과 청보리는 논 토양의 초기 미생물 다양성을 증대시킬 수 있는 최적의 녹비작물로 판단된다.

벼 재배지 논물의 수질특성과 Chl-a 변동 요인의 통계적 분석 (Statistical Analysis of Paddy Water Properties and Variational Factors on Chl-a in Rice Paddy Field)

  • Statistical analysis was carried out to identify the influence on environmental factors between paddy water chemical properties and Chl-a concentration (algae biomass index) using water samples collected in June for 3 years at rice paddy field. As a result of correlation analysis, there was a significantly negative relationships in DO(-0.366) and pH(-0.141). In contrast, significantly positive relationships were founded in COD(+0.431) and TOC(+0.422). According to the result of factor analysis, 3 factors were obtained and indicated that PC1 were Ca, K, Mg cation, PC2 were TOC, T-P, $PO{_4}^{3-}-P$ and DO, and PC3 were T-N and $NH_4{^+}-N$. As a result of linear regression analysis to develop a prediction model for chl-a concentration, the total amount of explanation was 20.6%, PC2 had the greatest influence on the increase of chl-a concentration and PC1 also showed a positive correlation but the PC3 has a negative correlation. In conclusion, carbon and phosporous content are the main factors for the increase algae blooms of rice paddy.

Effects of Short-Term Tillage on Rhizosphere Soil Nitrogen Mineralization and Microbial Community Composition in Double-Cropping Rice Field

  • Soil extracellular enzyme plays a vital role in changing soil nitrogen (N) mineralization of rice field. However, the effects of soil extracellular enzyme activities (EEA) and microbial community composition response to N mineralization of rice field under short-term tillage treatment needed to be further explored. In this study, we investigated the impact of short-term (8-year) tillage practices on rhizosphere soil N transformation rate, soil enzyme activities, soil microbial community structure, and the N mineralization function gene abundances in double-cropping rice field in southern China. The experiment consisted of four tillage treatments: rotary tillage with crop straw input (RT), conventional tillage with crop straw input (CT), no-tillage with crop straw retention (NT), and rotary tillage with all crop straw removed as a control (RTO). The results indicated that the rhizosphere soil N transformation rate in paddy field under the NT and RTO treatments was significantly decreased compared to RT and CT treatments. In comparison to the NT and RTO treatments, soil protease, urease, β-glucosaminidase, and arginase activities were significantly improved by the CT treatment, as were abundances of soil sub, npr, and chiA with CT and RT treatments. Moreover, the overall diversity of soil bacterial communities in NT and RTO treatments was significantly lower than that in RT and CT treatments. Soil chitinolytic and bacterial ureolytic communities were also obviously changed under a combination of tillage and crop straw input practices.

벼 무경운재배시 둑새풀 우점 정도가 벼 생육 및 잡초 발생에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Water Foxtail on Growth of Rice and Weed in No-Tillage Transplanted Rice)

  • 전년도 생산된 생고를 전량 환원하여 무경운 상태로 둑새룰을 피복도 8 정도로 우점시키고 그라목손으로 엽신만 고사시켜 피복도를 6으로 조절한 후 표준시비량의 20%를 감비한 상태로 중묘기계이앙하여 잡초방제, 질소 감비 효과및 벼 생육에 미치는 영향을 검토한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 이앙후 모의 넘어진 주율은 둑새풀 피복도 8인 경우에 37.4%, 피복도 6에서는 12.3%로 높았으나 이앙 2주일 후에는 피?도 6정도에서 대부분 정상으로 활착되었다. 2. 이앙후 둑새풀은 이앙기 진행 방향으로 넘어졌다가 1주일후에는 이삭만 다시 일어나 6월 말경 까지 서서히 노화되어 고사되었으며 그라목손 처리로 엽신만 고사된 둑새풀은 5월 상순에 고위분얼 이삭이 발생하여 일시적으로 녹화되다가 7월 상순까지 노화되면서 서서히 고사되었다. 3. 이앙후 벼 분얼성기의 잡초 발생은 피 > 방동사니> 가막사리 순으로 일부 발생되었으나 둑새풀의 우점으로 77∼78%의 잡초방제가를 보였다. 4. 둑새풀의 고사로 토양은 심하게 환원되면서 벼분얼성기에 벼와 잡초의 뿌리 일부가 부패되어 활력이 떨어졌다. 5. 둑새풀 우점구에서는 관행구보다 출수후 20일경 지엽, 차엽 및 3엽장이 길었고 엽색도 짙었으며 좌절중도 컸으나 포장도복이 약간 일어났으며 수량은 둑새풀 피복도 6에서 현미 628.5kg /10a로서 관행과 유의차가 없었다. 6. 결과적으로 둑새풀의 피복도를 6 정도 유지하여 무경운 이앙하면 수량 감수없이 시비량을 20%줄일 수 있었고 제초제를 안써도 되는 저투입 환경보전형농법이 가능하였다.

Effect of By-Product Gypsum Fertilizer on Methane Gas Emissions and Rice Productivity in Paddy Field

  • Rice cultivation in paddy field affects the global balance of methane ($CH_4$) as a key greenhouse gas. To evaluate a potential use of by-product gypsum fertilizer (BGF) in reducing $CH_4$ emission from paddy soil, $CH_4$ fluxes from a paddy soil applied with BGF different levels (0, 2, 4 and $8Mg\;ha^{-1}$) were investigated by closed-chamber method during rice cultivation period. $CH_4$ flux significantly decreased (p<0.05) with increasing level of BGF application. $8Mg\;ha^{-1}$ of BGF addition in soil reduced $CH_4$ flux by 60.6% compared to control. Decreased soil redox potential (Eh) resulted in increasing $CH_4$ emission through a $CO_2$ reduction reaction. The concentrations of dissolved calcium (Ca) and sulfate ion (${SO_4}^{2-}$) in soil pore water were significantly increased as the application rate of BGF increased and showed negatively correlations with $CH_4$ flux. Decreased $CH_4$ flux with BGF application implied that ${SO_4}^{2-}$ ion led to decreases in electron availability for methanogen and precipitation reaction of Ca ion with inorganic carbon including carbonate and bicarbonate as a source of $CH_4$ formation under anoxic condition. BGF application also increased rice grain yield by 16% at $8Mg\;ha^{-1}$ of BGF addition. Therefore, our results suggest that BGF application can be a good soil management practice to reduce $CH_4$ emission from paddy soil and to increase rice yield.

2종의 엽록소 측정기를 이용한 포장내 벼의 엽록소 함량 분포 측정 (Measurement of Variability of Chlorophyll Contents in Paddy Fields Using Two Kinds of Chlorophyll Meter)

  • This study was investigated the possibility of measuring chlorophyll in paddy crops using two kinds of chlorophyll meters(SPAD-502, Field Scout). The results of correlation analysis showed the 0.7758(r$^2$) relationship between the chlorophyll contents of paddy leaves measured by SPAD and spectrophotometer. It indicates that chlorophyll content in paddy crops could be measured using the SPAD. Considering the data of the SPAD and Field Scout there was significant difference between their chlorophyll contents measured by the SPAD and Field Scout. Likewise, such results were consistent with the corrected data using light intensity. According to the results, it can be concluded that it is difficult to describe the rice chlorophyll measured by the Field Scout more accurately than the SPAD when using one standard spectrum and another spectrum for reflectance measuring. The chlorophyll variance measured at a research institute and a farmer's field revealed that the output of SPAD was more reliable than that of the Field Scout.

서남부 간척지에서 벼 담수표면산파재배시 토양 염농도별 적정 파종량 (Optimum Seeding Rate in Different to Soil Salinity for Broadcasting on the Rice Flooded Paddy Surface at South-western Reclaimed Saline Land of Korea)

  • 서남부 간척지에서 벼 담수표면산파재배시 토양 염분농도별 적정 파종량을 구명하고자 $2003{\sim}2004$년에 걸쳐 호남 농업 연구소 계화도출장소 시험포장인 문포통(세사양토)의 저영답(토양 염농도 0.1%)과 중염답(토양 염농도 0.3%)에서 서간벼를 공시하여 파종량별 입모수, 생육, 수량 및 백미 외관 품위 등을 검토한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 입모수는 중염답보다 저염답에서 파종량이 증가할수록 많았다. 2. 간장과 수장은 중염답이 저염답보다 파종량이 증가할 수록 짧았으며, 도복은 토양염농도에 상관없이 파종량이 증가할수록 심했다. 3. 완전미 수량은 저염답에서는 파종량 5 kg/10a까지, 중염답에서는 파종량 7 kg/10a까지는 증가되었으나 그 이상의 파종량에 서는 수량이 증가하지 않았다. 4. 백미의 외관상 품위는 파종량이 증가할수록 저염답보다 중염답에서 완전미율이 낮았다. 5. 따라서 서남부 간척지에서 벼 담수표면산파재배시 입모, 벼 생육, 완전미 수량 및 백미의 외관상 품위 등을 고려할 때 적정 파종량은 저염답은 $5{\sim}7kg/10a$, 중염답은 $7{\sim}9kg/10a$이 적당할 것으로 생각된다.

A Control Method of Driving a Paddy Vehicle Straight Ahead for Automatic Operation

  • A method for automatically driving paddy vehicles, such as rice transplanters, etc., straight ahead in a paddy field was investigated . The direction of such vehicles must be precisely controlled to do the operations as straight. However, the alignment of the from wheels becomes distorted due to the unevenness of the ground, preventing the vehicle form going straight. If the proper alignment of the front wheels is maintained , the vehicle can be driven straight ahead greater precision. To investigate the influence of the ground uneveness, the behavior of a paddy vehicle running over an obstacle was quantified. The left wheel ran over an obstacle on a flat concrete road surfaced. When the steering wheel was free, the front wheels were forced toward the left when vehicle went up the obstacle and toward the right when the vehicle went down it. The torsion of the wheel when the vehicle went down the obstacle was larger than that when it went up ,so it turned right 5 degrees. Sinc hydraulic control steering decreased the steering angle , it turned right 3 degrees. These results suggest that a vehicle can be driven straight ahead with high precision when the steering angle is changed in response to the direction and inclination of the vehicle . Such results were obtained in a paddy field tests.
