Seismic response of nonstructural components considering the near-fault pulse-like ground motions

  • This paper investigates the response of nonstructural components in the presence of nonlinear behavior of the primary structure considering the near-fault pulse-like ground motions. A database of 81 near-fault pulse-like ground motions is used to examine the effect of these ground motions on the response of nonstructural components. For comparison, a database of 573 non-pulse-like ground motions selected from the PEER database is also employed. The effects of peak ground velocity (PGV), maximum incremental velocity (MIV), primary structural degrading behavior and damping of nonstructural components are evaluated and discussed statistically. Results are presented in terms of amplification factor which quantifies the effect of inelastic deformations of the primary structure on subsystem responses. The results indicate that the near-fault pulse-like ground motions can significantly increase the amplification factors of nonstructural components with primary structural period and the magnitude of increase can reach 17%. The effect of PGV and MIV on amplification factors tends to increase with the increase of primary structural ductility. The near-fault pulse-like ground motions are more dangerous to components supported by structures with strength and stiffness degrading behavior than ordinary ground motions. A new simplified formulation is proposed for the application of amplification factors for design of nonstructural components for near-fault pulse-like ground motions.

운전자 인지반응 연구를 위한 VR 시뮬레이션 시스템 개발 (Development of the VR Simulation System for the Study of Driver's Perceptive Response)

  • In this paper, the VR(Virtual Reality) simulation system is developed to analyze driver's perceptive response on the ASV(Advanced Safety Vehicle). The ASV is the vehicle of next generation equipped with various warning systems. For the purpose, the VR simulation system consists of VR database, vehicle dynamic model, graphic/sound system, and driving system. The VR database which generates 3D graphic and sound information is organized for the driving reality. Mathematical models of vehicle dynamic analysis are constructed to represent the dynamic behavior of a vehicle. The driving system and the graphic/sound system provide a driver with the operation of a vehicle and the feedback of a driving situation. Also, the real-time simulation algorithm synchronizes the vehicle dynamic model with the VR database. To check the validity of the developed system, a simple scenario is applied to investigate driver's perceptive response time and vehicle acceleration on an emergency situation. It is confirmed that the proposed system is useful and helpful to design the FVCWS(Forward Vehicle Collision Warning System).

데이터베이스 성능향상용 역정규화의 무용성 (Harmfulness of Denormalization Adopted for Database for Database Performance Enhancement)

  • 정규화(normalization)는 데이터의 불필요한 중복의 정도를 최소화찰 뿐만 아니라 데이터의 무결성을 높이는데 기여하기 때문에 데이터베이스를 효율적으로 설계하기 위해 수행하고 있다. 그러나 정규화를 깊숙이 수행한 데이터베이스인 경우 자료 검색 시 필요에 따라 테이블 간의 조인을 해야 하기 때문에 자료 처리 속도의 저하 현상이 발생될 수도 있다. 이러한 정규화의 부작용을 다소나마 해소하기 위한 수단으로 기업에서는 궁여지책으로 역정규화를 함으로써 어느 정도 완화시킬 수 있다고 보는 견해가 있다. 본 논문에서는 정규화와 역정규화와의 성능 평가를 위해 고객관련업무 시스템에 대해 두 가지 방법을 적용하여 데이터베이스 시스템을 구축하고 분석하여 비교하였다. 실험 결과 데이터베이스 크기에 따른 응답 시간은 전체적으로 역정규화 모델이 정규화 모델보다 더 길게 나왔다. 역정규화가 데이터의 중복을 발생시키기 때문에 시스템 성능 향상에 기여하는 바가 거의 없는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 데이타베이스 시스템을 효율적으로 사용하기 위해 데이타베이스 관리자는 데이타베이스 시스템의 성능 특징들을 알아야 한다 데이터베이스 시스템에서 자원 사용은 워크로드에 따라 다르게 나타난다. 본 논문의 목적은 상이할 워크로드에서 데이타베이스 튜닝에 도움이 될 수 있도록 데이타베이스 시스템의 성능 특징 분석하고 식별하는 것이다. 이를 위해, OLTP 환경을 나타내는 TPC-C 워크로드와 웹기반의 전자상거래 환경을 나타내는 TPC-W워크로드에서 14개의 성능 지표에 의해 결정되는 자원 사용 형태를 분석하고 4개(데이타 버퍼, 개인 메모리, I/O 프로세스, 공유 메모리)의 자원 할당 변경에 따른 자원 사용 형태의 변화를 분석한다. 분석에 대한 결과로서 14개 중 8개의 성능 지표는 워크로드에서 성능차이를 보이고, 데이타 버퍼 자원의 변경은 데이타베이스 시스템에 영향을 준다. 본 논문의 결과는 데이타베이스 시스템 자동 튜닝의 기초 자료로서 사용될 수 있다.

An Enhanced University Registration Model Using Distributed Database Schema

  • A big database utilizes the establishing network technology, and it became an emerging trend in the computing field. Therefore, there is a necessity for an optimal and effective data distribution approach to deal with this trend. This research presents the practical perspective of designing and implementing distributed database features. The proposed system has been establishing the satisfying, reliable, scalable, and standardized use of information. Furthermore, the proposed scheme reduces the vast and recurring efforts for designing an individual system for each university, as well as it is effectively participating in solving the course equivalence problem. The empirical finding in this study shows the superiority of the distributed system performance based on the average response time and the average waiting time than the centralized system. The system throughput also overcomes the centralized system because of data distribution and replication. Therefore, the analyzed data shows that the centralized system thrashes when the workload exceeds 60%, while the distributed system becomes thrashes after 81% workload.

Mapping을 이용한 소방방재력 및 재해취약성의 연구 (Research on Disaster and Fire Response Capability and Hazard Analysis Using Basic Mapping Method)

  • The fire department has one of the most important role as public resources of response to disasters in the aspect of supply and the adequate distribution of resources of response is essential, but the distribution of the response capability to disaster of fire department does not reflect the regional hazard vulnerability and hazard risks. Researchers performed database process with simple mapping based on the regional fire disaster response capability and the regional hazard vulnerability and hazard risks. The cities and towns are divided to four types each, total eight types and relative threat ratios are extracted from every type. The fire disaster response capability was extracted from number of firemen and fire vehicles in defined region. The distribution of the fire disaster response capability was inadequate and not matching to relative threat especially in small cities and some types of towns. The regional relative threat and resources should be analyzed by more delicate mapping and software development in the future.

  • This paper describes the automated call routing for train ticket reservation aid system based on speech recognition. We focus on the task of automatically routing telephone calls based on user's fluently spoken response instead of touch tone menus in an interactive voice response system. Vector-based call routing algorithm is investigated and mapping table for key term is suggested. Korail database collected by KT is used for call routing experiment. We evaluate call-classification experiments for transcribed text from Korail database. In case of small training data, an average call routing error reduction rate of 14% is observed when mapping table is used.

Vector based call routing algorithm is investigated and normalization method suggested. Call center database which was collected by KT is used for call routing experiment. Experimental results evaluating call-classification from transcribed speech are reported for that database. In case of small training data, an average call routing error reduction rate of 9% is observed when normalization method is used.

웹 스트레스 테스트를 통한 전자상거래 아키텍쳐 평가 (E-commerce Architecture Evaluation Through Web Stress Test)

  • Of critical importance to the success of any e-commerce site are the two factors: rapid application development and quick response time. A three-tier architecture composed of presentation layer, business layer, and data access layer emerges to allow rapid changes in user interface, business logic, and database structures. Too often, such a logical three-tier architecture is considered as requiring a three-tier physical architecture: Web server, application server, and database server running on separate computers. Contrary to the common belief, a Web stress test reveals that the three-tier logical architecture implemented on a two-tier physical platform guarantees a quicker response time due to the reduction in cross-machine communications. This would lead business firms to economize their spending on e-commerce: increasing the number of physical servers to expedite transaction is not necessarily the best solution. Before selecting a particular hardware configuration, a Web stress test needs to be conducted to compare the relative merits of alternative physical architectures. Together with capacity planning, Web stress test emerges as a powerful tool to build robust, yet economical e-commerce sites.

유체유동에 의한 외력을 고려한 회전 블레이드의 동역학적 거동해석 (Dynamic Analysis of a Rotating Blade Considering the Fluid Induced Exteral Force)

  • A dynamic modeling of a rotating pretwist blade which interacts with the fluid is proposed in this study. The hybrid deformation variable modeling method is employed to derive the equations of motion. The external force and moment induced by the fluid (with fixed configurations of the blade) are obtained by fluid flow analysis and tabulated in a database. This database is efficiently utilized to save the computational effort to calculate the dynamic response of the blade. The numerical results show that the fluid affects the transient response as well as frequency characteristics of the system.
