  • A boundary protection method for power distribution line based on equivalent boundary effect is presented in this paper. In the proposed scheme, the equivalent resonance component with a certain central frequency is sleeve-mounted at the beginning of protected zone. The 'Line Boundary' is built by using boundary effect, which is created by introducing impedance in the primary-side of line. The 'Line Boundary' is significantly different from line wave impedance. Therefore, the boundary protection principle can be applied to power distribution line without line traps. To analyze the frequency characteristic corresponding to traveling-waves of introducing impedance in the primary-side of line, distributed parameters model of equivalent resonance component is established. The results of PSCAD/EMTDC simulation prove the obvious difference of voltage high frequency component between internal faults and external faults due to equivalent resonance component, and validate the scheme.

  • Non-destructive methods such as rebound hardness method and ultrasonic method are widely studied for evaluating the physical properties, condition and damage of concrete, but are not suitable for detecting delamination and cracks near the surface due to various constraints of the site as well as the accuracy. Therefore, in this study, the impact resonance method was applied to detect the separation cracks occurring near the surface of the concrete slab and bridge deck. As a next step, the principal component analysis were performed by extracting various features using the FFT data. As a result of principal component analysis, it was analyzed that the reliability was high in distinguishing defects in concrete. This feature extraction and application of principal component analysis can be used as basic data for future use of machine learning technique for the better accuracy.

  • Harmonic resonance exists in grid-connected inverter systems. In order to determine the network components that contribute to harmonic resonance and the composition of the resonant circuit, sensitivity theory is applied to the resonance characteristic analysis. Based on the modal analysis, the theory of sensitivity is applied to derive a formula for determining the sensitivities of each network component parameter under a resonance circumstance that reflects the participation of the network component. The solving formula is derived for both parallel harmonic resonance and series harmonic resonance. This formula is adopted to a 4-node grid-connected test system. The analysis results reveal that for a certain frequency, the participation of parallel resonance and series resonance are not the same. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that the solving formula for sensitivity is feasible for grid-connected systems.

  • Primary mesenteric liposarcoma is rare. It is difficult to make an accurate preoperative diagnosis of the myxoid type of liposarcoma by using imaging such as ultrasound or computed tomography (CT) due to the very small amount of fat that is located in the tumor. We report a case of primary myxoid liposarcoma of the mesentery which was difficult to differentiate from other solid mesenteric tumors with a myxoid component such as low grade fibromyxoid sarcoma, myxoid leiomyosarcoma or myxoma. Use of chemical shift magnetic resonance (MR) imaging to detect small fat components and its cystic appearance with solid components on the MR images can be useful to differentiate myxoid liposarcoma from the other mesenteric tumors with a myxoid component.

  • Power capacitors is widely used for power factor correction and component of passive filter in the user power systems. Recently, application of non-linear load is gradually increased. Non-linear load produces harmonic components of current. There are series resonance and parallel resonance when capacitors are applied in the user electrical application. If this harmonic component matches resonance, voltage and current is magnified and has severely an influences on capacitor. This paper purposes a new method for the magnitude of voltage and current by the frequency scan analysis without equivalent circuit for the actual circuit at the resonance condition.

  • Three different derivatives were obtained in the synthesis of cobalt-binding BLM-A2 and characterized by NMR and Mass spectrometry. It was found that Component 1 is Co(II)($2H_2O$)(BLM-A2), component 2 is Co(III)($OOH^-$)(BLM-A2) and component 3 is Co(III)($H_2O$)($OH^-$)(BLM-A2), respectively. Component 2 and 3 were interestingly dominated when CoBLM-A2 complex was synthesized under basic condition. In this experiment, it was revealed newly that the brown form (component 1) was 6-coordinated structure composed with not 5 ligands but 4 ligands from BLM-A2 and with $2H_2O$ as the axial ligands. The component 3 exhibiting a novel ligand configuration is found, and the structure of component 3 was observed to be very similar to that of component 1 in the kind of their ligands but one of the axial ligand is $OH^-$ instead of $H_2O$. These ligand configurations are different from the green form (component 2) exhibiting 6-coordinate structure composed of 5 ligands from BLM-A2 and one ligand of $OOH^-$, being consistent with former studies.

  • Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an insidious and degenerative neurological disease. It is a new topic for AD patients to use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer technology and is gradually explored at present. Preprocessing and correlation analysis on MRI data are firstly made in this paper. Then kernel principal component analysis (KPCA) is used to extract features of brain gray matter images. Finally supervised classification schemes such as AdaBoost algorithm and support vector machine algorithm are used to classify the above features. Experimental results by means of AD program Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database which contains brain structural MRI (sMRI) of 116 AD patients, 116 patients with mild cognitive impairment, and 117 normal controls show that the proposed method can effectively assist the diagnosis and analysis of AD. Compared with principal component analysis (PCA) method, all classification results on KPCA are improved by 2%-6% among which the best result can reach 84%. It indicates that KPCA algorithm for feature extraction is more abundant and complete than PCA.

  • In this study, vibration analysis of a refrigerator was carried out to reduce vibration induced noise. When the components of a machine are assembled together, the natural frequencies of each component are changed since they have influences on one another. To avoid the problem of resonance, the vibration characteristics of each component must be checked systematically after they are designed. For this purpose, vibration analysis of a refrigerator was done using a component synthesis method. The experimental and analytical results showed good agreement and are presented here.

  • An ultrasonic resonance scattering spectroscopy technique is developed and applied for reconstructing elastic constants of a transversely isotropic cylindrical component. Immersion ultrasonic measurements are performed on tube samples made from a boron/aluminum composite material to obtain resonance frequencies and dispersion curves of different guided wave modes propagating in the tube. Theoretical analysis on the acoustic resonance scattering from a transversely isotropic cylindrical tube is also performed, from which complete backscattering and resonance scattering spectra and theoretical dispersion curves are calculated. A sensitive change of the dispersion curves to the elastic properties of the composite tube is observed for both normal and oblique incidences; this is exploited for a systematic evaluation of damage and elastic constants of the composite tube samples. The elastic constants of two boron/aluminum composite tube samples manufactured under different conditions are reconstructed through an optimization procedure in which the residual between the experimental and theoretical phase velocities (dispersion curves) is minimized.
