A power line coupler that can apply high-frequency power to a railway overhead line structure was analyzed. It is difficult to supply auxiliary power to an overhead line in a high-voltage environment, and doing so requires a long-distance transfer. A method is proposed that utilizes the resonance on the Rogowski coil, which does not use a magnetic core. A simple overhead line structure was fabricated that consisted of a contact wire, messenger wire, and dropper. Couplers of various sizes were fabricated and deployed on the messenger wire, and the transfer characteristics of the two couplers were compared at a distance. As a result of applying the matching circuit to the coupler, the transmission efficiency was 53% at a distance of 2.5 m. The proposed method shows that it is possible to apply the auxiliary power by using the existing conductor in a special structure, such as the overhead line.

This paper presents how to decide on tuning factor(${\delta}$) and quality factor(Q) values in design of single-tuned passive harmonic filters. Tuning factor(${\delta}$) and quality factor(Q) values have to consider before decision on circuit parameters of passive filters. A Study on these two value has not been scarcely performed and only experienced values has been used in passive harmonic filter design by far. As a experienced value, in cases of 5th and 7th filter, tuning factor(${\delta}$) is about 0.94 and 0.96 respectively and quality factor(Q) is, in all cases of, 50. If Single-tuned passive harmonic filter will be off-tuned, performance of filter will be decreased steeply and occur to parallel resonance between system reactance and filter capacitance. Therefore During the operation, In order not to off-tuning, Filter must be tuned at former order than actual tuning order. This is the same that total impedance of filter must have a reactive impedance. In this paper, Tuning factor(${\delta}$) is decided via example of real system and using the bode-plot and then performance of filters confirmed by filter current absorbtion rate. And Quality factor(Q) decided using the bode plot in example system and then performance of filters confirmed by filter current absorbtion rate also, which makes a calculated filter parameters to satisfy IEEE-519 distortion limits. Finally, Performance of the designed passive harmonic filter using the tuning factor(${\delta}$) and quality factor(Q) values, decided in this paper is verified by experiment and shows that 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th current harmonic distortions are decreased within IEEE-519 distortion limits, respectively.

In this paper we present an implantable pressure sensor to measure real-time blood pressure by monitoring mechanical movement of artery. Sensor is composed of inductors (L) and capacitors (C) which are formed by microfabrication and direct bonding on two biocompatible substrates (quartz). When electrical potential is applied to the sensor, the inductors and capacitors generates a LC resonance circuit and produce characteristic resonant frequencies. Real-time variation of the resonant frequency is monitored by an external measurement system using inductive coupling. Structural and electrical simulation was performed by Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) programs, ANSYS and HFSS, to optimize geometry of sensor. Ultrafast laser (femto-second) cutting and MEMS process were executed as sensor fabrication methods with consideration of brittleness of the substrate and small radial artery size. After whole fabrication processes, we got sensors of $3mm{\times}15mm{\times}0.5mm$. Resonant frequency of the sensor was around 90 MHz at atmosphere (760 mmHg), and the sensor has good linearity without any hysteresis. Longterm (5 years) stability of the sensor was verified by thermal acceleration testing with Arrhenius model. Moreover, in-vitro cytotoxicity test was done to show biocompatiblity of the sensor and validation of real-time blood pressure measurement was verified with animal test by implant of the sensor. By integration with development of external interrogation system, the proposed sensor system will be a promising method to measure real-time blood pressure.
The battery system of an electric vehicle suffers from the problem the battery output and the service life decrease at low temperature. A Positive Temperature Coefficient(PTC) heater is used for maintaining room temperature but is heavy due to a complicated insulation structure. The larger the weight is, the lower the fuel economy of the electric vehicle is. On the other hand a induction heater have a simple insulation structure, which is effective in weight reduction and has a rapid temperature rise. The induction heater consists of an LC resonance circuit. The larger the capacitance is, the higher the price and weight is. Therefore, the inductance should be increased to reduce the capacitance. Also, the main heat source of the induction heater is coreloss. So, it is important to optimize inductance and coreloss in terms of electromagnetic field design. In this paper, the inductance and the coreloss according to the change of the induction heater structure were optimized through the Taguchi method and Finite Element Method(FEM) simulation.

High-performance Si integrated passive process was developed using thick oxidation process and Cu-BCB process. This passive process leads to low-cost and high-quality RF module with a small form factor. The fabricated spiral inductor with 225 um inner diameter and 2.5 turns showed the inductance of 2.7 nH and the quality factor more than 30 in the frequency region of 1 ㎓ and above. Also WLCSP-type integrated passive devices were fabricated using the high-performance spiral inductors. The fabricated low pass filter had a parallel-resonance circuit inside the spiral inductor to suppress 2nd harmonics and showed about 0.5 ㏈ insertion loss at 2.45 ㎓. And also the high/low-pass balun had the insertion loss less than 0.5 ㏈ and the phase difference of 182 degrees at 2.45 ㎓.

In this paper, a composite right-/left-handed(CRLH) rectangular waveguide satisfying a balanced condition above the cut-off frequency is presented. The proposed structure consists of one shorted stub and two twisted H-plane irises which produce an effectively negative permeability and permittivity, respectively. The CRLH structure can independently control the series and shunt resonance frequencies of a CRLH transmission line which determine the left-handed(LH) and right-handed(RH) bands due to a minimized coupling between a shorted stub and twisted H-plane irises. Thus, the design of the CRLH waveguide satisfying a balanced condition is possible. To analyze the CRLH structure, a crossly connected equivalent circuit is derived. The simulated and measured results confirm that the proposed CRLH waveguide has a transmission property without a band gap among the LH and RH bands.

In this paper, a Ka-band 10 W power amplifier module with seven power MMIC bare dies is designed and fabricated using MIC technology which combines multiple MMIC chips on a thin film substrate. Modified Wilkinson power dividers/combiners and CBFGCPW-Microstrip transitions for suppressing resonance and reducing connection loss are utilized for high-gain and high-power millimeter wave modules. A new TTL pulse timing control scheme is proposed to improve output power degradation due to large bypass capacitors in the gate bias circuit. Pulse-mode operation time is extended more than 200 nsec and output power increase of 0.62 W is achieved by applying the proposed scheme to the Ka-band 10 W power amplifier module operating in the pulsed condition of 10 kHz and $5\;{\mu}sec$. The implemented power amplifier module shows a power gain of 59.5 dB and an output power of 11.89 W.

In this paper, a compact and wideband CLAS(Conformal Load bearing Antenna Structure) was studied using smart skin technique. In order to satisfy the electrical performance of the CLAS antenna, the proposed CLAS antenna is composed of conductive mesh, face-sheet, radiator, honeycomb, housing. Especially, radiator is composed of composite magneto-dielectric material and radiating element etched on the PCB (Printed Circuit Board). The radiating element is inserted into the composite magneto-dielectric material and has sloted Folded LP(Log Periodic) structure. By fabricated composite magneto-dielectric, the resonance frequency is decreased and the impedance matching characteristics is improved. We verified that the antenna has wideband characteristics and compact size using the antenna test results.
This paper presents a novel application of LCC resonant converter for 60kW EV fast charger and describes development of the high efficiency 60kW EV fast charger. The proposed converter has the advantage of improving the system efficiency especially at the rated load condition because it can reduce the conduction loss by improving the resonance current shape as well as the switching loss by increasing lossless snubber capacitance. Additionally, the simple gate driver circuit suitable for proposed topology is designed. Distinctive features of the proposed converter were analyzed depending on the operation modes and detail design procedure of the 10kW EV fast charger converter module using proposed converter topology were described. The proposed converter and the gate driver were identified through PSpice simulation. The 60kW EV fast charger which generates output voltage ranges from 50V to 500V and maximum 150A of output currents using six parallel operated 10kW converter modules were designed and implemented. Using 60kW fast charger, the charging experiments for three types of high-capacity batteries were performed which have a different charging voltage and current. From the simulation and experimental results, it is verified that the proposed converter topology can be effectively used as main converter topology for EV fast charger.

This paper suggests the PIFA structure modified antenna in which short-circuit plate is located between planar element and ground plane, in order to solve the problem of narrow band of existing internal antenna, PIFA. It is also suggested that internal antenna has the perturbation in the patch to broaden the frequency bandwidth. It is possible that the antenna is installed into the mobile telephone with a low profile condition(h=0.015 λ) to use internally, and acquired desired bandwidth(5.2 %) through double resonance structure, remodeling the PIFA that is already well-known as an internal antenna. This paper investigated how characteristic is affected by the feeding point(Yf, Zf), short strip plate(Zs), short strip width(Ws), perturbation width(w), length(d), short plate height(h), dielectric($\varepsilon$$\_$r/) to be slim type antenna. It is compared with existing PIFA bandwidth, and is suggested pattern as the H.E plane. It is simulated using the Microwave Studio of the CST Inc. based on FIM(Finite Integration Method) method and analyzed antenna characteristic following the variation each parameters. The result proved the practical use of PIFA antenna by comparing the measured and simulated data of the antenna.
