잉여 전기 저항 측정을 이용한 탄소 섬유 강화 복합재의 파손 측정 (Self-Diagnosis of Damage in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composites Using Electrical Residual Resistance Measurement)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 전기 저항 측정을 통한 탄소 섬유 강화 복합재의 파손 감지를 위한 효과적인 방법을 개발하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 복합재 적층판에 특정 파손을 인위적으로 모사하고 전기 저항의 변화와 모사된 파손과의 관계를 정립하려 하였다. 많은 량의 측정치를 효과적으로 처리하기 위하여 자동화된 측정 시스템을 개발하였다. 전기 저항 측정을 위하여 시편 표면에 전극을 제작하는 방법을 개발하였다. 쿠폰과 평판형태의 탄소 섬유 강화 복합재 적층 시편에 인위적인 파손을 부과하고 전기 저항을 측정하고 그 결과를 후처리하는 과정으로 파손을 검출하였다. 쿠폰 형태의 시편은 제작시에 다양한 크기의 테플론 필름을 삽입하여 층간 분리를 모사하였다. 전기 저항 측정 결과 층간 분리 크기가 증가함에 따라 전기 저항도 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 이를 통해 층간 분리의 존재와 그 크기를 검출할 수 있음을 보였다. 평판 시편은 초기에는 인위적인 파손 없이 제작하여 전기저항을 측정하고, 이후 특정 위치에 원공을 뚫고 원공의 직경을 증가시켜 가며 전기저항의 변화를 관찰하였다. 실험에 사용한 평판은 각 변에 6개의 전극을 설치하여 총 24개의 전극을 갖도록 하였으며 수직, 수평, 대각선 방향의 전극간의 전기 저항을 측정하였다. 측정 결과는 탄소 섬유 강화 복합재 구조물의 파손 검출을 위하여 전기 저항 측정법의 가능성을 보였다.

형성층 전기저항을 이용한 조경용 수목 활력도 분석 (Assessment of Landscape Tree Vigor Using Cambial Electrical Resistance)

  • 수목의 활력도는 다양한 방법으로 측정한다. 수목의 형성층 전기저항은 전기생리학적 진단 방법을 이용하여 수목의 활력도를 간접적으로 나타낸다. 본 연구는 Shigometer를 이용하여 몇 가지 수목의 활력도를 측정하고 수종 간 차이를 비교하고자 하였다. 그리고 개엽 시기, 방위, 수피 온도 등 전기저항 값에 영향을 주는 요인들을 파악하고자 하였다. 측정용 탐침의 길이를 일정하게 유지하여 측정오차를 최소화하였다. 대상 수종은 성균관대학교 자연과학캠퍼스에 있는 30-40년생 느티나무, 은행나무, 메타세쿼이아, 잣나무 및 튜울립나무로 하였고 각 종당 3개체를 선정하였다. 측정 시기는 2011년 3월부터 5월까지, 지면으로부터 60 cm와 흉고높이인 1.2 m에서 동서남북 4개 방위 별로 전기저항 값을 측정하였다. 수목 부근의 토양환경과 식물의 스트레스 반응을 함께 측정하였다. 측정 결과를 바탕으로 전기저항과 영향 요인과의 상관관계를 살펴보았다. 개엽 시기 이전인 3월 중순까지는 대체적으로 전기저항 값이 높았으나 4월부터 점차 낮아지기 시작하여 5월 11일에는 가장 낮은 값을 보였다. 전기저항 값의 시기별 변화는 토양수분, 토양전도도, 토양온도, 수목의 스트레스 반응과 비슷한 경향을 보였다. 잣나무의 경우 겨울에도 잎이 떨어지지 않아 측정 기간 동안 전기저항 값의 변화는 크기 않았다. 느티나무, 은행나무 및 메타세쿼이아는 남쪽 방향의 수피 온도가 다른 방위에 비하여 높았으며 전기저항 값은 가장 낮았다. Shigometer는 수목의 활력도를 현장에서 간단하게 측정함으로써 수목 관리에 유용하게 이용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

한국 비만성인의 대사증후군 유병에 따른 내장지방지수와 인슐린저항성, 췌장 베타세포기능과의 관련성 (Relationship between Visceral Adiposity Index, Insulin Resistance and Pancreatic Beta Cell Function According to the Prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome in Korean Obese Adults)

  • 본 연구는 비만성인을 대상으로 대사증후군 유병에 따라 VAI와 인슐린저항성, 췌장 베타세포기능과의 관련성을 알아보고자 하였다. 2017년 1월부터 2019년 12월까지 분당지역 일개 종합병원에서 건강검진을 받은 만 19세 이상 비만성인 1,797명을 대상으로 분석하였다. 대사증후군은 NCEP-ATP III의 기준에 근거하였다. 인슐린저항성 및 췌장 베타세포기능은 HOMA 지수를 이용하였다. 대조군보다 대사증후군 진단군에서 VAI가 높았으며, 대사증후군 위험요인 개수가 증가할수록 높은 VAI값을 보였다(각각 p<.001). 또한 VAI 사분위수가 증가함에 따라 대사증후군 유병률이 증가하였다(p<.001). VAI는 대조군에서 HOMA-IR 및 HOMA-β와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났으나, 대사증후군 진단군에서는 HOMA-IR 및 HOMA-β간에 관련이 없었다.

Theoretical Study of Effective Resistance Exercise for Sarcopenia

  • Sarcopenia is a phenomenon in which muscle function, including muscle strength, deteriorates as muscle mass decreases in the process of increasing age. The diagnosis of sarcopenia utilizes total muscle mass and limb muscle mass, and limb muscle mass is expressed as height squared, body weight, and BMI. Each divided value is used as an index, mainly less than 7.23 kg/m2 for men and less than 5.67 kg/m2 for women. Grip strength, standing up from a chair, and walking speed were mainly used as physical function factors, and grip strength less than 27 kg for men and less than 16 kg for women were used as indicators. The limb muscle mass showed a decreasing trend after peaking in the mid-20s in men, and maintaining a gradual peak in women from the mid-20s to the mid-40s, showing a more rapid decline in men. The rate of decrease in muscle mass and strength continues to increase after the age of 20, and muscle strength rapidly decreases after the age of 80. In Korean men, total muscle mass and limb muscle mass show a decreasing trend from the mid-30s, and a more markedly rapid decrease from the age of 60. For women, it remains constant from the age of 30 to the age of 50, then gradually decreases after the mid-50s, and shows a rather rapid decrease after the mid-70s, showing a more gradual decrease than that of men. Men show a sharp decrease from the mid-40s when limb muscle mass is divided by height squared, and women show a marked decrease after 70 years old when limb muscle mass is divided by height squared. Exercise for the prevention and treatment of sarcopenia results in an increase in protein assimilation hormone, an increase in antioxidant activity, a decrease in inflammation, an increase in muscle insulin sensitivity, and an increase in protein synthesis. Resistance exercise is basically used, and aerobic exercise and equilibrium A combination of exercises is effective. In addition, for a more efficient effect of sarcopenia through resistance exercise, it is necessary to supplement nutrition including protein.

Regulation of glucose and glutamine metabolism to overcome cisplatin resistance in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

  • Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a bile duct cancer and a rare malignant tumor with a poor prognosis owing to the lack of an early diagnosis and resistance to conventional chemotherapy. A combination of gemcitabine and cisplatin is the typically attempted first-line treatment approach. However, the underlying mechanism of resistance to chemotherapy is poorly understood. We addressed this by studying dynamics in the human ICC SCK cell line. Here, we report that the regulation of glucose and glutamine metabolism was a key factor in overcoming cisplatin resistance in SCK cells. RNA sequencing analysis revealed a high enrichment cell cycle-related gene set score in cisplatin-resistant SCK (SCK-R) cells compared to parental SCK (SCK WT) cells. Cell cycle progression correlates with increased nutrient requirement and cancer proliferation or metastasis. Commonly, cancer cells are dependent upon glucose and glutamine availability for survival and proliferation. Indeed, we observed the increased expression of GLUT (glucose transporter), ASCT2 (glutamine transporter), and cancer progression markers in SCK-R cells. Thus, we inhibited enhanced metabolic reprogramming in SCK-R cells through nutrient starvation. SCK-R cells were sensitized to cisplatin, especially under glucose starvation. Glutaminase-1 (GLS1), which is a mitochondrial enzyme involved in tumorigenesis and progression in cancer cells, was upregulated in SCK-R cells. Targeting GLS1 with the GLS1 inhibitor CB-839 (telaglenastat) effectively reduced the expression of cancer progression markers. Taken together, our study results suggest that a combination of GLUT inhibition, which mimics glucose starvation, and GLS1 inhibition could be a therapeutic strategy to increase the chemosensitivity of ICC.

  • 농형유도전동기에서 회전자 도체의 고장은 전동기 성능에 나쁜 영향을 미친다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 고장유무를 수치해석적 방법으로 분석하는 방법을 제안하였다. 정상이 아닌 회전자 도체가 있는 농형유도전동기의 회전자에서 고장에 따라 나타나는 특징적인 파형을 수치 해석적 방법으로 분석하였다. 이와 같은 방법으로 정상적인 도체와 고장 도체가 있는 경우의 특징을 분석함으로써 고장의 유무, 상태를 파악할 수 있다. 회전자 고장진단 실험 장치를 제작하고 실험을 통하여 제안한 방법의 타당성과 유용성을 확인하였다.

Roles of PTEN (Phosphatase and Tensin Homolog) in Gastric Cancer Development and Progression

  • Gastric cancer is highly invasive, aggressively malignant, and amongst the most prevalent of all forms of cancer. Despite improved management strategies, early stage diagnosis of gastric cancer and accurate prognostic assessment is still lacking. Several recent reports have indicated that the pathogenesis of gastric cancer involves complex molecular mechanisms and multiple genetic and epigenetic alterations in oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. Functional inactivation of the tumor suppressor protein PTEN (Phosphatase and Tensin Homolog) has been detected in multiple cases of gastric cancer, and already shown to be closely linked to the development, progression and prognosis of the disease. Inactivation of PTEN can be attributed to gene mutation, loss of heterozygosity, promoter hypermethylation, microRNA- mediated regulation of gene expression, and post-translational phosphorylation. PTEN is also involved in mechanisms regulating tumor resistance to chemotherapy. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of PTEN and its roles in gastric cancer, and emphasizes its potential benefits in early diagnosis and gene therapy-based treatment strategies.

소아청소년 기생충 감염의 최신 경향 및 치료 (Recent Trend and Treatment of Parasitic Infections in Children)

  • Enterobiasis and head lice infestations, contact-borne parasitic diseases, are the most prevalent parasitic infections of children in Korea, and they are transmitted by close contact with infected persons. They are not of major concern in public health, therefore their importance in children's health care are overlooked in Korea. Egg positive rates of Enterobius vermicularis have been reported to be 10~20% among children in kindergartens and primary schools. Enterobiasis is diagnosed by scotch tape anal swab, but repeated examination is necessary for accurate diagnosis. Albendazole or mebendazole are extremely effective for treatment, however, reinfections usually occur if treatment is not repeated at least three times at a 3-week-interval, targeting the whole family members including the patients. Environmental sanitation and health education are also necessary to guarantee the successful treatment of enterobiasis. Head lice infestation is still an indication of public health status. Children of 3 to 12 years old and their families have infestations more frequently, and girls have more than boys. Diagnosis can be made by identification of live lice or nits on the head. Pediculicides are effective treatment of infestations, however they do not kill nits completely, requiring second treatment. Recently wet combing is preferred as an alternative by parents in England because of possible toxicity of drugs and resistance of lice. It is impossible to completely prevent enterobiasis and/or head lice infestations. Therefore, mass screening and prevention are required, and, in local clinics, a thorough evaluation of the symptoms and past history, and appropriate laboratory tests are necessary.

  • The author collected some acid containing beverages to observe the influence which acid containing beverages affect the tooth surface tissue and the resistance of tooth which was treated with fluoride and counterpart tooth in the acid containing beverages and comparatively observing the erosion of enamel surface, the author came to the following conclusion. 1. Acid containing beverages on the market eroded the tooth surface tissue and the erosion degree was determined by the pH concentration of beverages. 2. the erosion aspect of the tooth surface in terms of acid containing beverages indicated some on the surface and surrounding enamel rod in the beverages which the pH was comparatively high, and the erosion was observed greatly in all enamel including the enamel rod in the beverages which pH was high. 4. When one drinks beverages, if beverges' pH is high, there are no serious harmful, but the author recommended not drinking the beverages which pH is low under the situation lack of the proper preventive dentistry technique.

발목재활을 위한 가상환경 및 햅틱스 (Virtual Environments and Haptics for Ankle Rehabilitation)

  • Traditional ankle rehabilitation procedures are tedious, repetitive, and require therapist's help. Therefore, they do not provide patients with good motivation to actively participate in the rehabilitation exercises. In addition, objective diagnosis and evaluation of the treatment progress have been difficult because records of exercise history are made by passive instruments from time to time. The virtual reality technology can make these procedures more fun so that patients can perform everyday rehabilitation exercises more actively. Moreover, haptics technology can give active resistance to the patients ankle motion to improve strength of muscles as well as can record ankle's motion and force histories for objective diagnosis and evaluation. This paper summarizes development of a virtual environment fur reforming the conventional ankle rehabilitation procedures. First of all, conventional rehabilitation procedures have been summarized. Secondly, haptic design and control, user interface design, virtual environment contents design are described. Lastly, mutual cooperation among many developers including medical doctors and therapists and future works are commented.
