지역임상시험센터 임상연구간호사의 역할 구명 (The Role of Clinical Research Nurses at Regional Clinical Trials Centers)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the performance of Clinical Research Nurses (CRNs) and the importance of their roles at the Regional Clinical Trial Centers (RCTCs). Method: A questionnaire focused on the role of CRNs was crafted by a researcher and the content validity was verified by a panel of experts on clinical research. The subjects of this study were 91 CRNs and Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs), who were Korean registered nurses working at nine RCTCs. 77 subjects yielded valid data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, the Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman's rank order correlation coefficient, and Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The performance of CRNs and the recognition in the importance of their roles were statistically significant different in age, education, CRN careers, positions, employment status and the phase of clinical trial. The role of direct caregiver was performed most often by CRNs. The role of coordinator of care and research (pre-study) was considered the most important role but performed the least frequent. Conclusions: The role of CRNs can easily be differentiated from CRCs who are not registered nurses. The domains of CRNs should be clearly identified and established. Moreover, research should be carried out on CRN training programs to cultivate competence in CRNs.

사춘기 정신지체여아의 초경에 대한 어머니의 경험 연구(Parse의 방법론 적용) (The Lived Experience of Mothers Mentally Handicapped Daughters Having Menarche at Puberty)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the structure of mothers of mentally handicapped daughters' lived experience, to apprehend the connectedness of the structure of the experience with concept of Parse's human becoming theory, and to provide a foundation for nursing research and education. Data collection was conducted from October 1995 to April 1996. Research participants were eight mothers of mentally handicapped daughters whose ages ranged from 12 to 18 attending special schools located in either Inchon or Seoul. The researcher had interviews with them over their lived experience conducted tape recorded, and made an analysis according to Parse's “human becoming research methodoloy.” The data were collected using the dialogical engagement process “I and You,” the participant researcher and the participant subject. The data were analyzed using the extraction-synthesis and heuristic interpretation. The structural integration is illustrated in the following : 1) Realizing the mother's role of mentally handicapped daughters and admitting situation. 2) Concealing a part of their relationship with others is interpreted as revealing-concealing. 3) Living a life kept moving between separating and connecting. 4) Their flight back voluntarily to improve the situation is interpreted as powering. The conceptual integration which emerged was the lived experience of mothers is powering through the revealing-concealing and connecting-separating of valuing.

수학화에 의한 도형지도에서 학생의 학습과정 연구 (The Processes of Students' Learning Geometry through Mathematization)

  • As the 7th mathematics curriculum reform in Korea was implemented with its goal based on Freudenthal's perspectives on mathematization theory, the research on the effect of mathematization has been become more significant. The purpose of this thesis is not only to find whether this foreign theory would be also applied effectively into our educational practice in Korea, but also to investigate how much important role teachers should play in their teaching students, in order that students accomplish the process of mathematization more effectively. Two case studies were carried out with two groups of middle-school students using qualitative-research method with the research instrument designed by the researcher. It was found that we could get the possibility of being able to apply effectively this theory even to our educational practice since the students engaged in their mathematization using the horizontal mathematization and the vertical mathematization in geometry. Also, it was mentioned that teachers' role was so important in guiding students' processes of mathematization, although mathematization is the teaching-learning theory, stimulating students' activities. Since the Freudenthal's mathematization applied in the thesis is so meaningful in our educational practice, we need more various research about this theory that helps students develope their mathematical thinking.

  • 이 논문은 최근 전 세계적으로 확산되어 다양한 분야에서 폭넓게 사용되고 있는 Social Network Service(SNS)가 오히려 사이버 범죄나 산업스파이 등과 같은 각종 불법적 행위에 악용되고 있는 상황에 즈음하여, 특히 SNS가 가지는 보안상 취약성으로 인한 위험뿐만 아니라 기업의 기밀정보 핵심기술이나 개인정보 유출, 프라이버시 침해, 신원 절도(ID Theft), 타인 정보의 오 남용, 지적재산권 침해 및 관련 법적 문제, 범죄 증거 및 수사자료 활용, 아동 포르노 등 성범죄에의 악용, 온라인상에서의 집단 따돌림(On-line Bullying) 등 각종 사회 경제적 우려가 중대하고 심지어는 테러나 사회적 파장이 큰 범죄의 목표 또는 수단이 되기도 하는 등 그 잠재적 위험성이 매우 크다는 점에 주목하였다. 사실상 국내 뿐 아니라 해외에서도 SNS의 위험성이나 Policing(경찰활동)에 미칠 영향 등과 관련한 연구가 거의 전무한 형국인지라 이에 SNS에 대한 위험성의 인식과 Policing 측면에서의 적극적인 검토와 대응이 시급히 요청되고 있는 실정임을 반영하여 이 논문을 통해 SNS의 잠재적 위험성에 대한 이론적 분석과 같은 학술적인 측면뿐만 아니라 경찰활동에 미칠 수 있는 영향에 대한 실무 실용적 관점에서 접근의 필요성을 인지하여 탐색적 연구를 시도하였다.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the neighboring environment in the location of university campuses. For this purpose, researcher survey to 567 university students in Daegu. Kyungbuk area. According to the changes of location pattern of campuses, the neighboring facilities are playing role to support the function of campus facilities and to accommodate the daily life of students. Therefore this study Plans to find out the university student's satisfaction and need of the neighboring facilities.

  • The nature of work which is changing has increased the importance of HRD within organization. Also, these changes are making HRD shift its paradigm : from the segregated, closed, operational & administrative, dependent, utilitarian view to the integrative, open, strategic & facilitative, interdependent, generative view. The shifts of the perspective on HRD cause HRD professionals rethink the purpose and definition of HRD, and the role & competency needed to HRD in 21st century. The findings which are drawn through literature review and researcher’s intuition based on a long field experience are as follows. First, The function of HRD has recently been much more important then that of the past. Second, There is no consensus over the conceptual identity of HRD. Nonetheless, it is apparent that the preferred activities of the HRD function is performance improvement. Third, It is too difficult that we should define clearly the role & competency of HRD because of diverse perspectives on them. But we find much evidence converging to support the fact that the role & competency of HRD should be extended from the sole focus on training & development to adding the additional role & competency of change agent, who includes planning, implementing, and managing change.

초등학생들의 먹이 피라미드 예측 모형 구성에서 과학적 추론의 역할 (Role of Scientific Reasoning in Elementary School Students' Construction of Food Pyramid Prediction Models)

  • This study explores how elementary school students construct food pyramid prediction models using scientific reasoning. Thirty small groups of sixth-grade students in the Kyoungki province (n=138) participated in this study; each small group constructed a food pyramid prediction model based on scientific reasoning, utilizing prior knowledge on topics such as biotic and abiotic factors, food chains, food webs, and food pyramid concepts. To understand the scientific reasoning applied by the students during the modeling process, three forms of qualitative data were collected and analyzed: each small group's discourse, their representation, and the researcher's field notes. Based on this data, the researcher categorized the students' model patterns into three categories and identified how the students used scientific reasoning in their model patterns. The study found that the model patterns consisted of the population number variation model, the biological and abiotic factors change model, and the equilibrium model. In the population number variation model, students used phenomenon-based reasoning and relation-based reasoning to predict variations in the number of producers and consumers. In the biotic and abiotic factors change model, students used relation-based reasoning to predict the effects on producers and consumers as well as on decomposers and abiotic factors. In the equilibrium model, students predicted that "the food pyramid would reach equilibrium," using relation-based reasoning and model-based reasoning. This study demonstrates that elementary school students can systematically elaborate on complicated ecology concepts using scientific reasoning and modeling processes.

Motivational Interviewing Training Using Role Play in Dental Hygiene Students

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a motivational interviewing (MI) training program to improve competency in communication and to effect the evaluated changes that would occur in dental students' counseling techniques as result of the training in the program. The study proceeded through the program via role-play practice, which was explained effectively during the MI program training process. A convenience sample of 43 fourth-year dental hygiene students was recruited. Twenty-two students were randomly assigned to the intervention group and 21 to the control group in the order of recruitment. The theoretical lecture was delivered over 3 hours and the practice was done in parallel by applying cases occurring in clinic settings. The practice was technical training, partner practice, and small group practice. The intervention group received three hour MI lecture while the control group received no lecture. Evaluation through role-play practice was separated according to "researcher's viewpoint," "counselor's role viewpoint," and "patient's role viewpoint." The results of the analysis showed that the intervention group had higher MI skills and ability than the control group. Furthermore, program participants showed positive impressions to the MI training program. The use of coaching sessions improved the MI techniques and counseling skills of dental hygiene students learning MI. The effect of the application of the MI training program was that the MI training improved counseling skills and interviewing abilities. Moreover, continuous training and feedback enhanced MI techniques and core skills. Training using lectures in parallel with practice rather than education through theory alone improved students' techniques. Application of role play through the combined method of the MI program was confirmed by an effective training method.

중환자실 입원환자 가족의 경험 (The Lived Experiences of Inpatients' Families in the Intensive Care Units)

  • The study was done by applying a phenomenological study, which is qualitative research methods, in order to understand the meaning of the lived experiences, to confirm and describe the meaning structure, and to prepare nursing interventive strategies centering around the meanings of the inpatients' families in the intensive care units. In the study, the family members were the main important nursing providers for in the inpatients' who were admitted in the neurosurgical intensive care unit in K-university hospital and who agreed to participate in the study after being given on explanation about the purpose of the study. The data were collected from the seven participants who had feelings of trust and intimacy favorable toward the researcher as they were families of patients who had been cared for by the researcher in the ICU where the researcher has been assigned. The data were collected from April to October, 1999. The participants described their experiences as candidly as possible. The researcher described closely the lived experiences with their own words and the observations of the researcher. A tape recorder was used with the consent of the participants to prevent nursing information and communication. The analysis of the data was made through the phenomenological analytic method suggested by Giorgi; as an unit of description, which include the participants' expressions and the researcher's observations, the analysis was used based on the data described from the expressions of the participants and the details of observations of the researcher. The conclusions of the study were as follows : The meanings of the lived experience of the inpatients' families in the ICU was confirmed by indepth interviews and observations including these of the participatants : (1) Psychological impact: confusion, impatience, surprise, insensibility; (2) Physical suffering: fatigue, discomfort, indigestion; (3) Psychological suffering: heartbreaking emotion, anxiety, annoyance, fear, compassion, grief; (4) Economical suffering: economical difficulties; (5) Psychological disagreement: escape from reality, personnel avoidance, grudge, powerlessness, carefulness, transposition of life-tract, abandonment, role-crisis, hope, lack of understanding, regret, feeling of ambivalence(progressive process, medical personnel interest); (6) Psychological dependency; self-reliance group support, family support, religious support; (7) Psychological acceptance; acquaintance, gratitude, reassurance; The study will offer better understanding of experiences therefore, based on the experiences confirmed by the study, it may facilitate more appropriate nursing interventive strategies for health maintenance and to prevent occurrence of possible problems with the inpatients' families in the ICUs.

A Structural Compendium on Perceptual Displays of Rural India towards the Role and Impact of ICT

  • The core purpose of the paper is to explore perceptual displays of rural India towards the role and impact of ICT in transforming the lives through education and telecommunications. After meticulous review of pertinent literature on ICT, and its policy framework, the researcher administers both quantitative and qualitative field data collected from the villages of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu with a sample of 250 from each state. More than 90 percent of respondents from the four southern states in India clearly thought that the role and impact of ICT is very momentous. Predominantly, cent percent respondents from Kerala evinced that ICT is the major reason for achieving the tag of "100% Literacy State". And also in the remaining three states viz., Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, the literacy rate has crossed mind-boggling figures only because of ICT's reinforcement. Even in the arena of telecommunications, these four states average telecom density is more than the country's average. The paper concentrated only on how ICT function empirically to build human capacity in rural south-India through the sectors of only education and telecom. This study is first of its kind and precious to all stakeholders of the ICT sector like educational institutional, telecom firms, customers, employees, and governments, etc.
