  • Objectives: We conducted research on 100 cases of Korean medical health promotion programs to determine how they work. The objective was to report trends in such programs and, by extension, to suggest a development plan for the Korean medical public health program. Methods: To research 100 Korean medical health promotion programs, we analyzed source data published by the Korea Health Promotion Institute in 2014-2018 using 10 criteria. Results & conclusions: Based on effective trends, the development of a Korean medical public health program requires the following options. First, we should complement the systems with related legislation and deal with Korean medical doctors who mainly participate in public health programs. Second, we should improve the infrastructure of the program with internal support from the Korean medical association and clarifying the legal basis of the national budget. Third, we should seek substantiality of public health programs. Korean medical doctors should actively participate in the program, and related agencies should support the public health care center for the development of Korean medical public health programs in which many people can participate.

  • Safflower is a world-wide plant for multiple uses. flower of safflower is honghwa(紅花) which has been used for heart disease in oriental medicine. but its seed was not used in oriental medicine. after the publication of "Shinyak(神藥)" - the late 1980s, its seed(紅花子, hongwhassi) was known as good for bone fracture, osteoporosis and menopausal disorders. so many researchers studied hongwhassi and delivered lots of papers. the concern of each paper is different. this paper is a review paper. this paper studied documentary records about hongwhassi, and analyzed hongwhassi research trend. the trend consists of cultivation, ingredient analysis, osteoporosis, atherosclerosis, periodontal ligament and phytoestrogen. many papers lack of information about plant origin. so this paper supplements the standard form of plant origin(when sowing, where grow up, which direction, what kind etc).

Methods : We investigated the studies on traditional korean medicine treatments for frozen shoulder via searching 6 Korean web databases. As a result, 32 research papers were found to be analyzed according to their published year, the titles of journals, published institution, the types of study, the number of cases, the types of treatments, the instruments for assessment and ethical approvals. Results : 32 papers were published since 1989. The studies on traditional korean medicine treatments about frozen shoulder were mainly published in The journal of korean acupuncture & moxibustion medicine. 10 case series, 7 reviews, 6 non-randomized controlled trials, 5 randomized controlled trials and 4 case reports had been under research. In most of the research, the number of the cases were not enough. In 15 cases of the studies, various traditional korean medicine treatments were used to treat the symptoms. In 8 cases of the studies, one method was used to treat the symptoms. Range of motion(ROM) and visual analogue scale(VAS) were used as primary assessments. Among the 25 clinical studies, 5 of them were accepted by institutional review board(IRB). Conclusion : In this study, we analyzed the trends of traditional korean medicine treatments on frozen shoulder. Reviewing the domestic trends of studies on traditional korean medicine treatments for frozen shoulder and examining the strong and weak points of those treatments are essential for the future studies.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to review the clinical research trends of ovarian cysts and to recognize the efficacy of Korean medicine intervention. Methods: Based on four domestic databases, including Korean studies Information Service System (KISS), Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS), Korean Medical Database (KMbase) and Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), we analyzed the case reports using Korean medicine intervention, which include acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal medicine. Data retrieval was carried out from May 12th, to 18th, 2022, and a total of 9 papers were included. Results: All papers were published in Korea and they contain seventeen case reports in total. The most frequently used intervention was herbal medicine, especially Gyejibokryeong-hwan-gami (桂枝茯苓丸加味), Guichulpajing-tang-gagam (歸朮破癥湯加減), Guibiondam-tang-gami (歸脾溫膽湯加味). Most cases reported statistically significant results on using Korean-medicine intervention. Also, there was no serious side effect of Korean medicine. Conclusions: In this study, we investigated the efficacy of Korean medicine intervention as an adjuvant therapy for ovarian cyst patients and research trends on ovarian cysts. Further studies are needed to supplement the safety and the evaluation of Korean medicine. However, the results should be taken cautiously as more clinical studies are needed.
